I have a decomissioned dl580 G5. I am trying to get it to boot from the installed cdrw+dvd combo drive and a dvd that is in it, to install either CENTOS or Proxmox or some flavor of Linux OS. I have yet to try to put these OS's onto a USB drive. do you have any videos on how to set bios to boot from cd rom. I have checked the bois and it shows the 1st boot device as the cd drive...thanks for any help.
I have to at my place. I’ll open them tomorrow to tell how much RAM is in them. I’ll probably not upgrade if it’s less than 64GB, they will probably just be disassembled for scrap metal 😄
I have a question is it possible to run proxmox or windows 10/ server 2019 on such an old machine because i got 4 and they are all maxed out like 64 gb ram and 2 cpus and i want to run an minecraft server on them because they should have enough power to do that

This is upgradeable to 64GB.
Venting back when servers were strongly built with pure iron, all you needed was a quad core cpu.
Man the G5 days. I was deep in the G5s about 2 decades back.

I believe you can as long as you have the latest drivers and FW upgraded / updated. Best wishes!
