Thanks for this... I fell in love with Scrivener years ago, working on a complex NF book - using it to organize my research changed my life. But.... I know I'm only using Scrivener in a tiny part of its capabilities. And now, working on a fiction book, it's different. This was a great help - love the quirky descriptive names you give your files!
Hi Jane! Loved this video! Scrivener is my go-to for everything writing related, and, admittedly, I could stand to be more organized within my files. I subscribed to your newsletter in hopes of getting your template, and I confirmed my subscription, but I haven’t received anything yet. I’m hoping you can help me out with this. Thanks for the great content - I’m loving all your videos!
I am so sorry about this, Lisa! Will you email me at jane@fictiontechnician.com, so I have your email address? I’ll then send you the link, and check my subscriber list to make sure you’re subscribed.
Loving you channel! How do you highlight in your manuscript to copy to a flash drive or just to copy? I’m looking for the highlight button… It seems so basic but I can’t figure out how to do it. Thanks, 😊
Thanks so much, Snail Sails! To highlight in Scrivener, you can choose Highlight from the Format menu. Or, you can select text and then click COMMAND + SHFT + H. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about saving a copy to a flash drive, though.
@@janekalmes Thanks, I'll try that! I just meant that I want to copy what I have written to a flash drive so I can print it out on someones else's printer. Its easier for me to read that way.
What I love about Scrivener is how malleable it is. Everybody uses it differently. I'm always seeing people demo how they use it and find myself going "That's cool!", yet I use it in a completely different manner.
Hi Jane, awesome video. I don't know if it's been pointed out to you as yet, but your listed link for your "How I Modify..." video appears to need updating. I checked your 'Videos' page, and the link for that title is different from what you show in this video's notes. Perhaps you updated that one and the URL changed? Anyway, thought you might want to know. Love your stuff! Super helpful.
Hey... what happened to the template you shared? I entered my name and email in the newsletter list, but it's not sending yet... do I need to wait a while, in any case?
Hey, Xamusel, I’m so sorry! I’m having a little difficulty with my newsletter software. Can you please email me at jane@fictiontechnician.com? Once I have your email I’ll (1) send you the template and (2) check to make sure you’re on the newsletter list.
@@janekalmes Sure thing. I'll send you that email ASAP. :) Oh, by the way, my given name is Samuel... and I think my email might accidentally end up in the spam box somehow (just a heads up).
Hi! So I tried to import your template but it says I need permission to create a new document with it. It won't let me create it with your template. I've decided to just make my own, but I thought I'd let you know. It may be because you have a different version of scrivener than I do, but I don't know. I tried it several different times.
@@janekalmes There is no Scrivener 2 for Windows. The website for Scrivener says they are working on 3 for windows, but its not available yet. They didn't do a 2.
At the risk of offending you and your collaborator, are you guys able to be affiliates for Scrivener subscriptions? You should see if they offer a program if you haven’t already. I know that’s not your main reason for doing these videos, but you might as well benefit from it if you can. Also there is another author tuber that has set up with that vendor the ability to offer her audience a nice discount with a coupon code. I don’t know how she set this up, but you might want to look into it - especially if you will also derive a benefit along with the new subscriber. That would also make it more likely for people to seek you out (via word of mouth) and then stay for all the great content! You deserve something for the advertising you are giving them and the potential new customers you send their way. Best to you!
Hi, David, thanks for subscribing! According to my newsletter software, you were sent my intro email, which has a link the the writing resources, including the template. It's right at the bottom of the email, and there's also a password for you to use. If you haven't received it, you may want to check your spam folder. Let me know if you're still having trouble!

The template is fantastic. I told my writing groups to check you ouit. Thanks so much!
Thanks for spreading the word! Much appreciated!
Thank you so much for this! I use scrivener but I didn't think of some of this to do for my document! I just subbed to your channel! Thanks again.
I’m so excited you found it helpful! Thanks for subscribing!

Thanks for letting me know! I just emailed you with the template.
