ps1 was their adjustment period for 3d. they did excellent back then but it never looked close to this.
ffX was the first game that reached this level of quality cutscenes.
Thats because the ps5 is just playing an enhanced FMV from the psp it wasnt remade for ps5

@@ButtersLStotch Rick Gomez has actually said he would love to return as Zack. But I can only think that Square won't hire him because he's either in a Union. Or they are dead set on keeping Caleb as the new Zack.
Couldn't agree more. I also miss Steve Burton and George Newbern as Cloud and Sephiroth respectively, but the new voice actors also do an amazing job and were easy to adjust to. They really grew on me. Hell, everyone does an amazing job.
But as for Zack's, I always find myself wishing Rick Gomez was at least still voicing Zack. He really just got Zack. His new VA just hasn't quite clicked for me like everyone else has, unfortunately.
@@kidridgedLPWhich is a huge shame... I also heard that they were dead set on replacing everyone for the remakes in general. Even though, for some reason, they remain the same in japanese.
Like I said in the other comment, everyone has pretty much grown on me and they do great. But Zack, well, it feels like Caleb'll have to work a lot harder to match up to Rick's performance. His voice just feels too... Idk, high-pitched for me or something. But, in his defense, I haven't quite finished Rebirth, so maybe he'll change my mind... Hopefully.

Acually the psp version has the same style of cutscenes ive beat it mutiple times its one of my fav ff games only thing i dnt like is that the og cast isint playing thier characters

PSP Cinematics were on point and still are years later. It seems like they didn't touch the cinematics in the PS5 versio, they didn't need to. They just changed the gameplay graphics
Or it was so good that they couldn’t improve on it nowadays
They might've lost the original files, the fmv software is outdated/discontinued or they didn't even bother to re-render because upscaling AI is cheaper and gets the job done just enough.
But in essence, yeah it still holds up very well. Still prefer they re-render to true high resolutions but also not change a thing in models, effects etc

The cinematics were made by a third party, they’d have to remake from scratch for no reason if they tried to touch on something. Whih would be waay too much wasted money for something trivial, upscale was the better idea.

Because it could be the capture device, emulator or rendering software being different. Or the guy who posted edited a little bit to make it look a little different. Or color correction from the devs.
@@clemo86v24 Not at all. You can prefer Zack’s old voice but claiming the old VA was better or even “Good” is ignorant to say the least. It was garbage. Probably terrible and rushed Voice Direction/production.

Rick sounded like a cocky 20 year old himbo and as the story kept going his entire world crashed. His tone and inflections changed.
Caleb while a fine VA I'm sure. Does not have that same cocky attitude nor change in tone and inflections. That's probably because of direction and not his actual delivery.

this scene tbh is way more epic and gathers alot of viewers attention than any other ff movies.... i like all ff movies but crisis core has some of the thrilling scenes of it imagine they make movie of this

If i can respect remake for one thing, that would be for its ost.
I like the old actors more than the remake wish they kept the original ones but it’s kinda funny that the creators reused the scenes from the game like the cutscenes where we see the beginning to the end.

Playing the story made it less believable that a legion of soldiers killed him. Especially after beating Minerva.

This isn’t rendered in-game. How do people still not know this? What did you think was going on when you play the gameplay and it looks nothing like those fancy cinema quality visuals in certain especific cutscenes?
I'll point out this was an FMV cutscene and it is currently being rendered at a much higher resolution than the psp was capable of. So it's a bit of a dishonest comparison.

Is the ps5 version supposed to be that fuzzy?
I like the older cutscenes more angular eyes, other than that it's mostly an improvement.
Voices are worse.
Graphics are technically better but lack the charm the old stylized graphics did.
Battle system is just 1000% better
Zacks old VA was hated so much after the original came out and now everyone's acting like they always liked him. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug

Interesting that the video quality is purposely switched. The PSP version (top) is actually the PS5 version, while the PS5 version (bottom) is really the PSP one.
Also, Caleb is amazing as Zack, just as Rick was. Get over your purist nostalgia shit!!!
