Great video, thanks!! I just upgraded my 8-year-old Inspiron 3847 desktop. Took me two attempts - the first time I must've not had the slots in all the way. I used some gloves just to be safe.
By the way, when I was looking to upgrade my computer's memory I went on the Dell site and chatted with a sales rep. They told me $179 per memory slot to upgrade! Then I went on the Crucial site and found the same thing for about $15 per slot. So far so good, everything is working. Thanks again.

Great video. I'm not a techie and have only ever replaced a failed power supply a couple times, but this was very easy to follow. Thanks!

Upgraded my dell Inspiron 3668 tower. Slightly newer than your PC. It's recognizing the upgrade, to 16 GB. Still running slow. Windows 10. I've removed a lot of old programs and games that my kids downloaded. I do have Norton. Thanks for the great video.

I think you got an SMR HDD and these drives are slow. I can tell by the looks of it being a WD blue 3TB (probably the WD30EZAZ). I suggest getting an SSD for loading faster!

I need to replace my HD in my Inspiron 3847. Do you have a video on that process? Thanks, Robert from CA.

Nice video, but the only thing I'm concerned about is that you were touching things with your bare hands. I was told that you risk the chance or ruining your computer with static electricity.

Doing it this way for 20+ years. However- where I live, there’s very little static electricity. It’s humid here (vs say, Arizona). That cuts down on static electricity. Also, if you touch the case first , you’ll discharge. But I’ve never had a problem. Good point though. Thank you - discussions help us all learn.

I need to run World of Warcraft smoothly I only got a graphics card in a 1050 gtx it on this Inspiron. What ram you recommending for me? Also for me not being an expert do you recommend me to get a more memory drive and power supply or no reason to upgrade if I don’t want to thank you.

Personally- I’m not running something like that on this computer that sucks up that much graphics power. I think that because this computer is so old you’d be better off saving up a little more of the upgrade money toward a new machine with a better processor and 32GB RAM minimum. Just my opinion. But I don’t think 16GB + this processor is going to make you happy.

@@TheRealWorld737 I bought the computer 6 years ago been playing wow on it since then. The money is gone lol what’s a 50 bucks more gonna do. Also it runs fine I don’t see the big deal but I’ll try a 16 gb ram for now. Will look into a gaming pc but I just want to run this pc until then and give it away or something.

I have a Inspiron 3487 also and am wondering how the 3 TB hard drive worked out. Dell's website lists 2TB as the maximum, but I'm hoping it can handle bigger drives. I've upgraded to 16GB RAM, and considered upgrading the i7-4790 CPU (vs upgrading the GPU), CPU heat sink/cooler, and a couple of HDDs, so I can use it as a virtual file server. Thanks for the video.
