    With the name this show has, this is a question that should have been answered over a year ago: how do cutie marks work? A rather general question, and so I apologize for the lack of "mind blowing" compared to most episodes. But in the end, we still manage to come up with an answer... even taking a certain two-parter into account.

    Actually, that's one thing I always wondered about Cutiemarks.
    As an example, what would happen if somepony like... Sapphire Shores lost her voice and became a mute? Would she be able to do something else, or would her cutiemark refuse to change?
    Would that pony be able to change their talent and find something else to do, or would they be locked into that talent while still being unable to perform it? I mean I know, Equestrian magic could probably cure something like that - but we have proof in the Trade episode, where a pony was disabled and had not been cured.
    But still, that's my question: What would happen if a pony had a special talent, but through some event was unable to ever perform that talent ever again?

      I think a cutie mark is more of a mark of destiny. So destiny would not allow that to happen because it was predicted by destiny aka cutie mark

    I have no problems with your let's play just that I'm not really a fan of Let's Plays.
    But yeah does seems kind of douchey that people would just dislike leave a nasty comment and leave. I support what you do no matter what it is. :)

    I think everyone is thinking of Starlight Glimmer's spell all wrong. What if what she is actually stealing is their special talents(and maybe a little personality), and since cutie marks are a representation of their talent, they are moved along with their talent. The equal marks are then magically put onto the ponies to replace their mark and to stop them from being able to retrieve their talent. The equal sign probably also tries to force them to conform.
    That's just my hypothesis, but we'll see if it holds any weight in the finale, which will probably explain a little more.

      @A-Dino-Named-Mennany 5 лет назад +2

      She's stealing anything that makes them drastically different or "better" than the others, and when she does those traits are contained within the cutie mark, otherwise they would either have to be contained within herself, or they would just disappear. (If the way it works was explained in season 7 or later please don't tell me, I haven't seen anything past season 6)

    I've never understood why people rush you to make these videos. I mean, at least with a Let's Play video, you just have to do SOME setting up before you can record a couple of videos, but with this series, you have to find a topic to talk about, research said topic (and anything else that comes up DURING said research), write out the script, make the video, and it's just one massive clusterfuck of things you need to go through for one CML. It's insane that people think you can pump these out even remotely as quickly as your Let's Plays.

    • @RLYoshi
      @RLYoshi  9 лет назад +4

      Serefin Sereday People just have weird trains of logic. "You can make two forty-minute let's plays a day but it takes you a month to do a seven-minute CML?!" "If you worked harder you could do these weekly!" "Game Theory makes them more often than you do, and it's not like that's a far more successful channel that gets properly paid for it and covers a much wider and more varied area while you only have a single show to work with!"

      ***** Agreed, sometimes the best content are the ones that take a little longer to be released! Game Theorists may produce them more often, but that's their main focus! But that doesn't mean their content isn't good, just that they can give more of that content. People are just too impatient for things!

    You're actually the only analyst I've seen that had the same view as me about the cutie map. Every other analysts or reviewer thought that just because the mark changed, the talent changed too. I mean, it wasnt that obvious for some, but when put into deeper thinking the answer was pretty clear.

  • @DemonWolfLov45

    this actually makes sense about cutie marks showing what a pony wants in life rather than just what they can do, a perfect example is at the end of the episode: "crusaders of the lost mark" right before the cmc's get their marks, apple bloom says something along the lines of "ya we've spend so much time worrying about our marks, but when we take a little time off, we end up helping other, what ya say crusaders wanna help other ponies with finding their true talents?"

  • @Yenastuundepaspris55
    @Yenastuundepaspris55 9 лет назад +4

    ( 4:43 ) Once the cutie mark appears, they become **linked** to their psychological state, their personality, subconscious or whatever, maybe ?
    That would easily explain why **magically removing** (note that the *spell* used might not be as ''clean'', and direct, as one might think) the cutie mark has such an effect on their mental state and ability.

  • @Redrunner613
    @Redrunner613 9 лет назад +1

    My theory agrees with yours mostly, mine is that in the season 5 premiere, the equal sign cutie mark was magical, and that was what took away their talents, not taking off their actual cutie mark.
    Starlight Spark- I mean Sunset Glim- I mean Starlight Glimmer (seriously though, how many times are they going to make a name similar to Twilight's?) just had to get their old cutie marks out of the way. Maybe the natural cutie marks overpower the artificial ones, so she removes them, and keeps them hidden away so that they wouldn't drive off her equal cutie marks.

      What happened with Trouble Shoes then? If a cutiemark is basically "This is what I'm doing with my life" then how come Trouble Shoes didn't understand that? Hus cutiemark wasn't what he wanted to do with his life, or at least he didn't know what it was symbolising.

    Kind of odd for RUclips to do that. I don't really watch gaming videos, unless it's a game I'm curious about buying.
    As for the this video. I think you missed a few things, specially in the part talking about MMC. I believe and I think the show has shown Cutie Marks are pretty abstract and not to be taken literally.
    Looking at Rarity and Rainbow Dash are good examples of this.
    Rarity's cutie mark has nothing to do with sewing and fashion, that is her passion and job. But her cutie mark is her ability to work with gems and finding the beauty in the things.
    Rainbow Dash, her job is the weather team. However, I think she has little interest in the weather itself. It just let's her practice her passion of flying and express need to fly fast and give a good show.
    There are other examples with the other main six, outside of Applejack & Fluttershy. But Pinkie Pie, works in a bakery, but her passion is making ponies happy. Twilight's passion is magic, but she use to work in a library and is now a princess.
    In what happen in MMC I think it showed pretty well, that even though the cutie marks where swapped, the memories and maybe a little of passion was moved with them, but not the abilities to preform the talents. So I think to gain a cutie mark, you have to develop the ability, it doesn't come from the cutie mark itself.
    I don't think Cutie Mark disregarded that, I think it expanded it. All the ponies he had there cutie marks removed still had a bit of passion for there talents, just not the ability to preform the actions do to Starlight's magic.
    Of course, later episodes may expand more on the spell Starlight used, what it fully does and out it fully effects ponies. You pointed it out and we did see it caused an effect on ponies when they tried to tap into there natural talents.

    • @andrewgilbertson6534
      @andrewgilbertson6534 9 лет назад +2

      Here's what I always thought.For one, I always thought Rarity's talent was making things more gorgeous and because of this, fashion just rolled into the mix because it helped her express her talent.And Rainbow's talent is being one of the top Pegasus fliers, so, that along with her actually being a Pegasus, kinda transferred to weather duty. It's already a job really only a Pegasus can do easily and combine that with Rainbow's far above average flying skills and viola. Weather pony.My main point is, Cutie marks aren't so abstract. They are telling you what you do in life, or more along the lines of what you're good at. Rarity, making things beautiful. Rainbow, flying very fast and very well. Yet they don't exactly define secondary skills, rather they suggest what the pony needs or might already have. Like Rarity's sowing and Rainbow's cloud work. Or they enhance them.For example, look at Pinkie. You wouldn't expect a pony like that to be very organized would you? I certainly don't. But when you boil right down to it. She has to be. Being able to set up parties with dozens of people in them in just a few hours with decorations on top of that? That's insane. You don't complete something like that with an ADHD induced viewpoint. You go to work on that with a sharp and focused mind. Or else, you're never going to get anything done. Pinkies cutie mark represents her ability to make people happy and balloons are universally meant to represent happiness, for the most part. Especially with her cutie mark's colors. Yet her secondary skill is meant to set up parties and her tertiary skill meant to organize them.There's no telling how deep a cutiemark is rooted into a pony's skill set, whether it's a culmination, the pinnacle, or just the most base, yet strongest desire. It could even be all three. So this makes sense when everyone's cutiemarks were switched. They didn't have the complete skill set, or they didn't have the drive to accomplish it. Applejack's colors were vibrant yet the sowing was atrocious. Rarity could move the clouds, but she didn't know what to do with them. Pinkie could buck the tree, but the didn't have the precision to do anything substantial. Rainbow had the drive, but she didn't have the understanding or the planning ability to make it work. All of this seems to point to the cutie marks being deeply set as what I said at the beginning of this paragraph.

    A few days ago, I actually came up with my own theory about how cutie marks work, and although it doesn't perfectly answer everything.... it's a theory that also takes into account the complete disappearance of a cutie mark when Tirek in S4 would drain a pony. Warning: This might end up into a wall of text.
    First of all, your initial explanation about it symbolizing a talent also came up to me so.... no need to go over that again.
    My explanation however on Season 3, Season 4 and Season 5 cutie mark episodes is
    this:
    A cutie mark is generated by a pony's magic when the mental trigger is "pulled".
    (S4) If the pony's magic is drained, their cutie mark will no longer be maintained by the inner magic reserved (no more magic duh) causing it to disappear and taking the talents with it. (Well, maybe it doesn't take the talents, but it sure as hell removes the energy to do much of anything)
    (S5) If the pony loses their cutie mark for any reason other than a full mana drain, an Equal sign will pop up making the pony lose their special talents, basic abilities will however keep working (thus explaining why Dash can still fly, but since her talent is speed...).... Or it's really part of Starlight Glimmer's communism spell.
    (S3) And now... what would kill my previous things if it weren't for this: Starswirl's spell "attacked" the Elements of Harmony which are Artifact level magic (which is even higher than Ascended Being magic), the elements probably ended up seeing themselves changed and attempted fixing their bearers that way without realizing that something happened, and as such, the reason the bearers were doing the wrong thing was because they were under the Elements' spell. Of course, I still don't get how they then got fixed.

  • @nostalgiclollipop6563
    @nostalgiclollipop6563 8 лет назад +3

    I think the "special" cutie mark, that erases your talent isn't a spell. It's just a cutie mark that means it's self nothing at all... I mean the actual "talent" that it gives is being normal for some standards. I will give a stupid example but however imagene a black pony that always thought that ponies that have different colors of fur are not normal, so if that black pony made the "special" cutie mark by herself any pony that got this cutie mark was made black color.
    So Starlight Glimmer has standards about all ponies being bad physical education, so they can't run, all talking normal without ascents and all be darker colors.

    commenting on a two year old video, i know, but i wanted to point this out. in "magical mystery cure", they were still good at their natural abilities because their cutie marks were never removed from any entity, ex: rainbow's mark was on rarity, not removed. i think that in the s5 premier, they lost their abilities because they were removed entirely, not just misplaced.

  • @spectacularawesome4784

    your partly right you just forgot that cutie marks can also be a skill or a state of mind. For example when the sonic rainboom explosion happen twilight's magic was 'awoken' and it showed she had a great ability with magic thus her cutie mark being magic. or when pinkie pie saw a rainbow and wanted to make others smile she threw a party and when they did she got her cutie mark in planning parties because it was an important skill of hers. Also when the cutie mark crusaders get their cutie mark it isn't until they stop trying and decide its more important to help others with their cutie mark and its what their thinking and truly believe thus giving them all the same cutie mark because it was their state of mind but also because it was a skill because they were good at it and helped diamond tiara which made them realize their special talent. In conclusion a cutie mark doesn't give you your special talent it just let's you know what that special talent is. Although you did shock me with season 5 premiere because starlight took away their cutie marks along with their personalities. For example fluttershy couldn't talk to animals but she could when she was a blank flank and THEN that's when the cutie mark appeared. Although starlight took their ability away she did replace them with an equality sign that gives them no special talent whatsoever but it totally makes sense and I propose a theory that if starlight left them blank flanks which she wouldn't because it will still allow the ponies to have their special talent and get their cutie mark AGAIN.

    I agree with you on how cutie marks appear, but not about the equals sign cutie mark and the swapped cutie marks. I think that because the spell was unfinished, it only replaced the memories and cutie mark sign of a pony with another one. Perhaps if the spell had been finished with a different line from what Twilight chose, then the cutie mark switch would also switch the talents themselves.
    And on the equals cutie mark, it's a finished spell, but it's not perfect, or super fast acting. It gets the job done, and then slllloowwwly chokes out the aspects of a pony that make them a unique person. At least, that's what I think.

  • @hoodiegaming7285

    see i concur with this theory for the most part yet except the section about the s5 finale I think that even if the cutie mark is on another pony you still can still act as you were but with the goals / lifestyle of the pony's cutie mark you have instead yet when your mark is taken out of circulation it alters your personality as well. The grey glow you see could be something in the pony's biology trying to react with the cutie mark yet it not working! do you want to know my only flaw in this proposal? CHANGLINGS >:( (p.s I didn't know you did gaming vids and I will look at them and possibly subscribe, also congrats on making RUclips your career! I hope to see more amazing videos!)

    When you mention the mental trigger you gave me another reason the mane six acted the way they did when there cutie marks removed. True likely the = was draining them, but I think there might be more.
    Perhaps the spell use to move the cutie mark also removed there trigger and parts of the mind that created trigger. Look at Pinkie Pie. She regressed back to the point make to before she got her cutie mark. She basically became her sister. Applejack pretty much became the mare that lived at the oranges.

  • @Raichulolrat
    @Raichulolrat 9 лет назад

    In the season 5 premier I recon that is wasn't that fact that they lost their cutie marks, but instead the fact that they gained new cutie marks, the grey equal signs. I believe a cutie mark represents one's destiny rather than talent, so when the mane 6 and other ponies gained the grey equal signs, it changed their destiny, so they would have the same destiny of blandness and simplicity with nopony standing out

    So here's a theory. What if a cutie mark actually does control a ponies talent? You could counter with the argument that magical mystery cure showed that the mane six were not good at the jobs of the other characters, but let's think for a second.
    Very rarely does someone step into something completely new and do a stupendous job in that task, without instruction or guidance. It takes a lot of time and practice to become good at a job or sport. This is true with many of the ponies too. Before Twilight got her cutie mark, she spent a lot of time reading about magic and practicing magic. She was not a natural right off the bat.
    The mane six were doing the others jobs for about half a day, without any prior knowledge or experience. It is conceivable to believe that the mane six would of, eventually, become very good at each others jobs, with some more practice and guidance.
    This theory is backed up by cutie map because the equal signs made the mane six the same as every one else, as is what equal means. Applejack spoke like everyone else, pinkie had the same energy as everyone else, and Rainbow flew no faster than anyone else.
    There is one problem. In magical mystery cure, the mane six went back to their original jobs and regained their original talent. There are, however, three ways I think this can be explained. First, Twilight's weak attempt at Starswirl's unfinished spell left it easily broken. Second, they mane six only went back to normal when the elements went back on, so it could have been element magic shenanigans. Third, and most hypothetical, what if a pony could change cutie marks, if they could no longer perform their first talent, but found another they could do?

    Im sure someone else brought this up before, but the idea that cutie marks appear when ponies realize "hey this is what I want to do with my life" fails in the case of Trouble Shoes. Not only did he not know what he wanted to do with his life when he got his cutie mark, but he thought his talent was something completely different. Something that, for years, he abhorred and considered a curse. Sure, he did experience his talent first hand (making people laugh by tripping over himself) but the realization of what his cutie mark meant and what fulfilled him as an individual didn't come until much later. I'm not entirely disagreeing with your theory, but the "trigger" as you put it may in fact be significantly more complicated.

    I think A cutie mark defines who you are, not in the sense that you don't know who you are, but more of when you better understand who you are and does show what your special talent is. Cutie marks are more of a symbol of who are, and to me have no true meaning except that.

    this clears up a lot of confusing things in my head and my have just helped me decide what my cutie mark would be. for a while now I thought that I could not make an OC based on myself because I was unshore what part of biology I want to do as a job but along time ago I came to the realisation that my future was in biology so that would be the moment I would get my cutie mark if I was a pony. now I just have to design a biology OC cutie mark.

    I got reasons why I don't watch gameplay...no is not because of CM Lab.
    1.The gameplay are so long. I don't have time to watch.
    2.I don't want to be spoiled on some gameplay.
    3.Some games don't recommend me.
    Not saying to change something, is just my personal problem. I'll try to watch one someday. Keep doin what u like, cause I can wait for this kind of stuff.

Matter of fact, I love playthroughs, so finding out that you were also a gaming channel sealed the deal for me. I know these questions have been asked before, but I have a lot of quandaries about cutie marks. Mainly, if they are connected to a pony's mind, would they disappear if a pony lost their memory? And, can cutie marks change? Say, if Applejack was forced to move away from Sweet Apple Acres, but after a time, grew to find something else to devote her life to? Please enlighten me if you have any theories.

  • @reubensarts7787
    @reubensarts7787 9 лет назад

    My theory is that a cutie mark is to do with the destiny of a pony, symbolizing when the begin that journey rather than a different one that they could've taken. Applejack realised she belonged at home and that was where her destiny lied, but should she have stayed, her cutie Mark would be different because she would've taken a different destiny. Pinkie Pies destiny could've been a party pony or like Maud, Twilight 's is unclear and seems that it was a choice between what came first, friends or studies. Anyway, it seems that once a certain path is followed, the cutie Mark appears. In the finale when the cutie marks were swapped, they suddenly had a change of destiny, like snapping a rubber band, which is why they were sad and dysfunctional, but if Rarity took a hobby up in weather control and slowly transitioned between fashion and weather her cutie Mark would change possibly - a theory that sadly we cannot test. The cutie Mark, replaced with a grey equal changed their destiny once more, suddenly and against their will, but they were slowly beginning to succumb to the destiny - which is directly connected to who you are, explaining why Applejack lost her phrases - and this is what might have happened had Twilight given up like Spike suggested.

    Cutie Marks are phsycological.They appear when they discover their purpose in life ,the mark acts as a placebo, making them think ,and therefore be much better.If the mark is removed, this belief means that they no longer have these powers, because they don't have the confidence to do anything ,because they think that the mark does all of the work.

    I wont comment on people on the internet being stupid, selfish and/or assholes.
    What I want want to mention is the episode 02/06 The Cutie Pox. Here the "artificial" cutie marks MADE the talent (in addition to make the pony act on it). As the marks dissapeared upon healing the pox so did the talents.
    We see the same effect in 05/01 The Cutie Map. Detaching the marks led to a dissapearence of the talent.
    In 03/13 Magical Mystery Cure on the other hand, we see that getting a different cutie mark changed their -lets call it destiny- but left the talents as they were before.
    From here on I'm going into theorizing:
    The Cutie Pox are an age old desease ("back in the Paleopony Period" - Twi). As such it has "perfected" the attachment of cutie marks with the associated talent (by trial and error and evolution).
    Starlight Glimmer "studied that spell for years" therefore got the hang of removing the cutie mark together WITH the talent (cmon, give her some credit). I agree with the video that the attachment of the equal sign made the changes to the personality indicated by becoming grey.
    So what is different in the Magical Mystery Cure? Twilight cast an UNFINISHED spell of which she had no idea, what it was supposed to be doing and which even its inventor Star Swirl didn't completly understand.
    What were the results? First thing Twi seaw (or didn't) is the change to the Elements. I see them as the conductor to the mane5 and since the spell didnt have any actual target ponys it went for the next best thing. Then it changed the cutie marks of the m5 who are connected to the Elements and since the Elements represent the cutie marks of their bearers, they changed accordingly. BUT since the spell was unfinished, it only managed to switch around the marks but not the talents. Here I get into territory I dont like so much: the "destiny". Nobody tell me, the m5, the towns ponys and even the apple family didnt notice such an obvious change. Therefore i conclude that the spell actually changed the reality. ("We were always at war with eurasia." ;) Only those in immediate vicinity of the spell being cast (aka Twi and Spike) were uneffected and are aware of the changes. I don't know and probably don't WANT to know, what Star Swirl intended with the spell. But I digress. My point is, the Pox knew what they were doing, Starlight Glimmer knew what she was doing, Star Swirl / Twilight did NOT. Therefore the cutie mark and the talent got separated which should not happen and did not happen before now.
    BUT with all that said, we know fillies do have their talents before the cutie marks (as said in the video) and only get the mark, when they realize it or whatever. I conclude that the "unnatural" attachment and dettachment work on a different level than the "natural" one. Because (to quote Applejack) "A cutie mark wont change you, no matter what you get." ... unless someone scews around with it in which case you do change your talent and/or your destiny and/or your personality and/or whatever.
    The lesson is: don't play around with the cutie mark.
    TL,DR: Artificial changes to the cutie mark may change the pony and/or the talent while the natural appearance does not.
    (Also Trouble Shoes indicates you get your cutie mark even when you don't know what your special talent is but act it out regardless which can lead to confusion what the mark means. [He didnt want to make people laugh but did so and got the mark.] The CMC on the other hand might indicate that that is not the case because they might have gotten them when preparing for the talent show. So there you go.)

    One person said that cutiemarks can change but what I don't understand is, there is no evidence in the show about a cutiemark changing. Starlight and the staff was a different story. here is my theory to why in mmc it's not effecting their talents and in the cutie map it does: the spells are different! the spell starswhirl the bearded made was unfinished, corrupted! it wasn't intended for that purpose of replacing cutie marks! starlight's spell is a different one: it was intended to have this effect, it was finished so it had more power! that's the only logical explanation I could think of at least with actual over anelizing (dunnu how to spell dat shit)

  • @umetnikmina

    when i sae this theory i saw the loop hole maybe when the cutiemark exsists on a ponys flank any ponys that pony doesnt lose her/his plecial talent she/he just folows what ther new mark seas but when they are remowed from a flank entiery they lose their talent. But there is a loop hole for that eather for exsample when the princesses gave their pover to twightliht but i think that that isnt realy a loop hole beacouse they still are there just that twightliht has het mark but is caring the marks of the proncesses inside her. So i think the "power of the cutiemark" just needs to be inside some pony to egsist. So they show the talent, what is the pony goint to do in life but when we take them away we take their power with them so the pony loses the talent since there is pegasus, unicorn and earthpony magic so it makes sence in a way.

    that is true and i actually knew most of it but never read into magical mystery cure. i actually loved the equal sign idea but my question would be what would happen if a pony gets a mark in something they are good at but don't want to do her whole life. i'll use my oc for a example because rn she has no mark and is basically the me i wanna be. so her favorite things to do in her spare time is play games, play with animals, draw and watch RUclips but what if she got a mark in righting or teaching. i mean she's good at that stuff but she doesn't wanna do it her whole life, would she be stuck doing it her wholle life or could that change like mmc but without mark switching marks.

    I totally agree with you, but I have a little theory of my own. Okay so when you mentioned that when a pony losses ther cutie mark there personality well change or lose it. Well what if a cutie mark is in fact a tattoo that their personaliy stamped on to their flank. I don't know why the flank maybe it just makes sence in a way I guess. Well this also loops into another one of my theories. Okay, this is going to be alot of reading for you but what if all ponies had the ability to control magic but not on command like a unicorn. They could only use this magic in realization of an importent aspect of there peasonality, and this magic can be only used once. The source for this is the flash of light and the sparkles when the cutie mark appers which is almost like the teleportation spell that magicly talented unicorns use to get to one place to another. But who knows really.

    You know, it's not a scientific video, but Brony Nation has a theory dealing with this issue (over more than one video).
    His theory is the a longer version following: that there is a link between destinies and talents of a pony and that link is the cutie mark.
    The combination of both your videos could simply mean that a Cutie Mark is a sign of a 'perceived' destiny and/or special talent.
    In basic psychology and social psychology, the idea is that people (or ponies) could perceive having a destiny and/or unique ability based off an important life event. This would likely change the individual emotionally and could affect the individual's very psychology. So, it could end up ruining or making a purpose within an individual's life.
    However, like in BN's Negative Cutie Mark video, it could also mess with someone's life leaving them without a purpose or considering themselves a burden to others.
    Basically put, this could mean that perception of a found talent and/or destiny could be the actually reason for a Cutie Mark.

    can I just go mad theory on this for a sec?
    I think this is exactly right!!
    the cutie mark is nothing more than a badge stating what some pony is good at.
    I think that it cones from when you full accept yourself as being sonething, enough to commit to life, it changes your magic.
    you described that physical change comes from time or physical interaction.
    but looking at some provable differences between Equestria and rl, their magic mainly, it must have some sort of say catagory. so both have physical and spiritual traits, what they look like and who they are as a person, but ponies have thier magic charcteristics such as aura color or ability.
    humans often have both their spituality and physicality effected by each other quite regularl, so it would be safe to say that magic can effect someone's personality and physicality!
    I think a cutie mark is a special occurrence when all three are interacting with each other. discovering what your special talent is the trigger. i think that realization and/acceptance of what you are truely good at, is strong enough to completely change your magic into what you believe it to be.
    of course I think what you are thinking does affect how the cutie mark comes out.
    book horse was doing magic for her test.
    Rarity was pulled to gems by her need to be inspired.
    Apple pony came home and realized she wanted to work it for the rest of her life.
    RD literally got a sonic rainboom from doing a sonic rainboom, a rainbow THUNDERCLOUD(rain) actively making THUNDER (sonicboom) from a RAINBOW (duh) bolt of LIGHTNING (cause of sonicboom, which is rainbow colored, did I mention that?). #illuminati [ o>
    Fluttershy was caught by butterflies when she discovered she was a Disney princ... could communicate with animals.
    pinkie was mid party.

      I think there is a more supernatural and symbolic aspect to the cutie marks of the Mane 6 than simply a "badge" stating what they are good at. Here's why:
      - Twilight's cutie mark is a 6-point star with another 6-point star beneath it, representing the 6 Elements of Harmony. There are 5 more stars surrounding the main one, each representing another Element.
      - The star appears in the center of the Tree of Harmony.
      - Each cutie mark corresponds directly to an Element of Harmony.
      - The number 3 seems to show up in each cutie mark: the 6-point star is a multiple of 3, Rarity has 3 gems, Applejack has 3 apples, Pinkie Pie has 3 balloons, Fluttershy has 3 butterflies, and Rainbow Dash has 3 colors in the lightning bolt.
      - Every cutie mark was earned at about the same time and connected to RD's sonic rainboom. Everypony seems to agree that the this was uncanny. Rarity puts it best: "We've been BFFs forever and we never even knew it!"

      Twilight's seems to be a recurring thing, possibly because she was destined to become another princess, but I imagine for the other members of the mane six, them all being in threes is to represent how connected they all are as friends since they got them at the same time.

    • @eugenebizzell1148
      @eugenebizzell1148 8 лет назад

      Well duh book horse is the princess of friendship. Like cadence got a crystal heart before the crystal empire was even restored. Twilight has a star which holds so much symbolism.
      You. Can't be the princess of friendship if you have no friends, and friendship is also the key to harmony which the mane 6 are learning as the series progress "what would rarity want?" - everyone except rarity in s6 ep7 I think. Twilight's cutie mark is so significant it basically can't be accomplished without the other 5. I think m she really is the princess of harmony (which would explain her love to you know organize a bit) but that isn't something like rising the sun and moon, or controlling an empire, it requires more than 1 pony to do what book horse is supposed to do, go Round everywhere fixing problems with everyone who isn't feeling harmonious with every pony else. She needs the other 5 to learn about the harmony of friends how eve. Though some personalities are day and night they all can still live peacefully together as friends. Like rainbow dash and flutter butter, or rarity and apple pony.
      Actually you can watch as each of thier personality conflicts have thier own episodes and lots of reminders that they are different individuals through the series but the later the series gets you start to see them overlook their differences, even keep them in mind when planning stuff, and work together against the disharmony amongst the general population rather than amoungst them selves.
      Book horses cutie mark is so significant that even the other ponies cutie marks become generalized. 3 butter flies/diamonds/ballons/apples. But rainbow dashes rainboom is what deeply connected them all in the first place. Actually rainbow dashes rainboom is as significant as celestia and Lunas even, and that's cannon from the season 6 finale.
      Rainboom Doesn't happen all of Equestria becomes wrecked, everytime.
      World altering act, besides being the first one ever to do a rainboom, but not significant enough to maintain life in General like harmony or the sun and moon. Not princess material more like save the day kind of significance. Dashie would be you know a really good soldier which is honestly in my head the wonder bolts with all the talk about the generals and captains and wars of the past associated with some wonder bolts episodes.
      But basically book horses cutie mark represents harmony and in order to have harmony you must live with everyone in peace no matter what thier personality unless it is evil like sombra etc.
      I think twilight sparckle is the most powerful pony in all of Equestria simply because of her friends, she just doesn't know it. That is actually what I think the entierly of the show is about, the strength in the harmony of friends. How your interactions with everyone vice versa, can affect the entire world more than the sun. And I think after season 5 gave it another meaning of just because you aren't significant like a princess doesn't mean your actions don't matter. Mostly coming from rainbow dash and her rainboom but still not being a princess, or starlight, or trixie etc.
