This band stands out from other mathy/midwest emo bands because they don't just riff for the sake of riffing. They know when to get techy and when to let it ride/build. Awesome song writing and dynamics 👊👊
they're very good but i think it's wrong to say they stand out because of that, there are many other bands that play in a much better technical way with better ogranisation in build up such as the hotelier. this relies too much on energy and only really stands out compared to the weird riff centric bands that occupy many highschools
This freshman album is so good. It has a warm nostalgic feeling that reminds me of music I listened to as a teenager, while at the same time feeling fresh and interesting. Chris’s drumming is catchy but intricate without being complex for the sake of being complex, Sean’s rhythm holds it down with really strong backup vocals, Ryan’s bass lines don’t show off but when paid attention to are really quite nice. Jayce and Zayna define a lot of the band’s sound, in my opinion. Jayce’s lines oscillate between chunky riffs and delicate math rock tapping. Zayna is a fantastic frontwoman for the band, powerful vocals, interesting lyrics, and unbounded energy on stage. I love her, I love this band, and this was definitely my favorite album of 2022.

You’ve come into my life at a time I feel like I needed it most, you’re music has been my “Shoulder to cry on”and has helped me through a very difficult time and I can’t be more grateful. So much feeling, so much talent, so much spunk. A Sweet Pill for sure. No side effects. Just remedy.

Just saw them live in San Diego and EVERYONE around me at the show was raving about them. Great songs, top notch musicianship across the board, and super entertaining stage presence
The mixture of zildijian, meinl and sabian cymbals is nice. Shows that he puts thought into his sounds instead of just buying a pack and calling it good.

Sweet Pill is AMAZING. they left such an impression on me when i first saw them live. i saw them at the Pop-show in Vegas with La Dispute, Mom Jeans and The Wonder Years. i binged their music and kept in on repeat on my flight home. SO fucking good my god.

What a hidden gem. So glad I randomly stumbled upon Where the Heart Is, now I can’t quit it. Missed seeing them live by two weeks, definitely not missing it next. The potential is just overflowing, there’s so many directions this group could go. That Cut section came out of nowhere and I absolutely loved it. Lastly, Zaynah is exceptional. So much power and energy, and so much fun to watch. Her performance in studio was what caught my attention right away, and live she builds on that even more. Go Hawks
Such an engaging and energetic set! Seeing Sweet Pill live with La Dispute in Sacramento was so wonderful, and they were very generous with fans at the merch booth. I really enjoyed getting to chat with their bassist. They have the album of the year and it’s not particularly close for me.
