In my opinion, most dealerships are LIARS, CHEATS and THIEVES!
Until they get reported to the Attorney General's Office of their respected state and until they get sued nothing will change.
This old lady needs to sit out front of this dealership in protest with a sign and let the TV stations in her area know and then pray the dealership is stupid enough to call the police to have her removed!!!

I once thought I would like to sell new cars at a dealership. They were running a 4 day series of classes for $500 to teach an average intelligent person the ropes. The deal claimed some would chosen for that dealership. One need no pay up until day 4 . The class included a wide range people, men , women, young old, white Afro, and oriental. The 1st two days were interesting. Interesting story telling , but no real substance. When the 3 rd day arrived people were doubtfully talking among themselves about the varsity and sincerity of this program. Three days passed and not one iota of valuable information was presented to the class. Then subtle threats of attendee dismissal if the instructor thought negative conversation was taking place . That was enough for me. I did not return on the third day. While I was attending these classes that took 8 hours each day, I was working a shift in a factory on the graveyard shift. I was dragging physically and mentally. The $500 fee would have been a real sacrifice. I felt like a hostage being freed. Then the harassing phone calls came from the instructor and dealership. They banned me from ever purchasing a car from their dealership. Big whoop huh? Well I never did return as a customer, but by my choice. In years passed My son and I bought 5 cars from them. In fact I never bought another car from any dealership. My cars are over 20 years old with no electronics. I have no car payments ! I have a great mechanic and I do some repairs myself. In my life again I can’t fathom ever buying a new car or an E car, ever! Now I must tell you I am 81. I like my old car. I don’t work anymore. My average overall speed is 15 mile a week. Yes I can afford to make this decision and I am not advocating everyone follow my example. This is my story.

It seems 50,000 miles is the magic number. My Toyota service advisor knows me and weeds out the crap that I don’t need however she’s not always there and that’s when the fun begins. This summer I made an appointment for the New York State yearly inspection. I was told my car failed due to having physically damaged headlight that wasn’t properly secured. One of the clips on the top of the headlight unit broke off which had no effect to the headlight. It was secured ( I have a video taken right after its failure) however the dealership wanted Over $1500 for a new unit so I could pass inspection. I went to a local shop and it passed without any problems. A few weeks later I went back for an oil change and showed my fully secured and fully working headlight to my regular service advisor. She had to let her boss know which turned into a mea culpa of im sorries. You need to be on your toes, I stopped going to them when they recommended spark plugs and sway bar bushings at 70,000. I no longer trust them and have found an independent mechanic who is honest.

I sunk a boat load of money into my 95 Taco at a local repair shop and they struggled to get it running correctly. Our local dealer service rep asked for me to give them a shot at it and no harm no foul type of trouble shooting service. They correctly diagnosed multiple issues and corrected the problem, drives like it just rolled out of the dealership! That leads to bringing in the 85 Volvo and again they hit it out of the ballpark. Service rep sees an issue and brings me back to discuss with the mechanics. Yet it boils down to service tech's of your quality and integrity, you sir would have me as a customer should I reside where you are at.

Way to go Peter! I bought a 1984 Taco off the lot of my local Toyota dealer and took it for regular maintenance for years with no problems. Then the service manager was promoted and the new one tried to upsell me for a timing chain replacement. I had a friend look at it (it was tapping a little from a worn tensioner) but he advised me to let it go. This was after the service manager claimed they had my engine tore apart and gave me a quote on the cost. Again, my friend (who is a mechanic and also maintained the jets for the USAF Blue Angels) advised me to stop the job and just buy a TC kit for when needed. I drove that Taco two more years before it failed. My issue with the dealer was they lied that the work had started and tried to talk me into continuing. I picked up the truck a few hours later and not a bolt was touched on it. My friend saved me a lot of $ by doing it himself. Not all service managers are created equal! Buyer Beware.

You are the Best. You're right to be mad, and disgusted. I've run into both great and NOT great dealerships. A few "unfortunately ignorant" "maintenance supervisors" talked down to me when I had my old truck in for service over the years. They were visibly uncomfortable when I insisted on being told WHAT they wanted to do, and WHY. It is amazing how they just assume it's okay to be condescending toward women customers. If they persisted in their snottiness (Wot -- my money isn't as good as a man's???), then I'd be sure to let it slip that as a pilot, for decades, the AIRCRAFT shops ALWAYS let me in to observe what they were doing to my airplane(s). Funny how their outlooks would change. (~~roll eyes here~~)
But just when you wonder about people, I stumbled into a small mechanic shop associated with a brake/muffler chain. Wow. Talk about the other end of the spectrum! I'd gone in there for something I'd guessed was minor, but ended up sitting there most of the day, as they repaired several things. They were honest, sincere and worked so hard. But what I saw that day restored my faith in garages -- the owner continually greeted every single customer the same way (and the place was packed).. and a very old woman had worries about her car, but was even more worried about how to pay for it. He had the mechanics repair all the necessary (multiple!) items, but when he checked her out, he explained what she needed to watch for, etc., but charged her for just ONE of the repairs. He knows all these people, since every one of them is a RETURN customer! Karma works that way, right? I've gone back there for years now -- many years. They are honest and smart and talented. Good shops DO exist.
And P.S. I HAVE found a good dealership now, too. :-)
Shame on these arrogant clowns, for taking people's money. Thank you for the great video. You are the best.

Rant is well justified Petr. It irritates me greatly every time my wife takes her car to the dealer for service and they pull the “scare tactic” BS and try to get her to buy additional services, etc. My favorite so far was her previous car (2010 Venza) when the dealer recommended tires. I went inside when we went to pick it up. I baited them into admitting that the odd wear was due to overinflated tires. I then showed them my photos and documentation on my phone of me checking the tire pressure after every service visit. Every time they had overinflated them 5-10 psi. I ripped the service manager a new orifice (politely) and notified them if they keep pulling the scare tactic crap I’d report them to Toyota corporate.
Surprisingly the BS seemed to stop after that chat! 😂

Even if the up front manager was busted on camera, the owners would fire him, and would say we never knew. This is standard corporate procedures for all used care dealers and new car guys and pure corporate types in general.
You did good to point this out, but 'the old lady' will usually not believe you or disregard. My 90's year old parents in florida got terrible advice from their physician, who was doing the same scam on them as was done on this woman. Thier 'treatment' eventually killed off my father. In trying to remove the nut on the power steering line they rounded it (probably didn't use the correct wrench). I added Lucas power steering leak fix and also AT Reseal and the leak stopped. Simple fix but beyond the dealer. I don't trust dealers. They over charge the customer and underpay their mechanics. well their days are numbered thanks to EVs that don't require extensive service.

We have a 2012 Tacoma that we bought used and just now it has 65k miles on it. We paid around 30k for the truck. And a few months ago the dealer sent us a letter saying they would happily give us 4,000$ for our truck 🤬. I didn’t even give them the time of day and reply to their letter. I just tore it up and tossed it in the trash.

Thank you! My mom has a Honda minivan and is in her 80's. Recently I decided to take it in to her regular dealer so the things the DID need to be done could be fixed and she would not have to worry about getting scammed. These scammers do far more damage than $20 or $30 dollars. They damage people's trust in one another and (as they get older and are worried about getting scammed) even themselves.

Coolant conditioner is a WIX product it helps with the buildup of the coating that comes from OAT (Organic Acid Technology) original anti-freeze. Premium synthetic oil is recommended for all Hybrids due to the number of starts from zero rpm .
The coolant conditioner while Toyota does not recommend it the original antifreeze. Opening the system kills the OAT organisms which then start to clog radiator and heater core . If you are going to call something a scam please use all the facts because the Toyota antifreeze in the Hybrid system uses a different type antifreeze and doesn’t need to be opened to check the level the conditioner usually doesn’t get put in . I am a certified master technician who works for an independent shop not associated with any dealership but have taken dealer courses for several manufacturers as well as aftermarket training

Too bad Toyota corporate doesn't care about their customers as much as you do. I've reported this sort of issue happening at 3 local dealers and I got some canned response with zero action from Toyota to do anything about it. Not that Toyota isn't the only company with dealers who pull this sort of garbage, but they should hold themselves to a higher standard like their customers do.

Thank you for being a real person Petr. I cant stand that shops do this, especially to old folks and women who dont know any better.
This is why i do all my own repair work, number one, i cant afford a shop rate even if i wanted to pay it, second, why pay a premium for shoddy workmanship. If you want it done right youve gotta do it yourself. IMHO.

It’s sad to see this kind of deceitfulness even in our small c😊mmunity. We saw that with a quote from another local shop to change my water pump and timing belt on my truck for more than double your prices. Not to mention from non- certified Toyota maintenance mechanics. I understand your disgust with this dishonest behavior. It’s shameful and unacceptable. Especially when as a loyal Toyota owner, you expect a dealer will work by the books and their training to fix and maintain your vehicle accordingly. Thank you, Petr for being so passionate about your fellow citizen and for being the honest person you are. That’s why I do all my work myself. I don’t trust anyone touching my cars, we recently had my young sister-in-law‘s Lexus, IS 250 taken to the dealer, and they took her to the cleaners, and basically butchered her car with thousands of dollars worth of things that it didn’t need and it burns my soul hearing this from every angle, every dealership all over the states. Peter, I really appreciate you putting this out there and everyone should be under alarm when they take their car to dealerships.

Those 2 filters ( cabin and air ) are the first thing to be sold at the oil quick change shops. I’m with you on reading the owners manual, i have to wonder how many miles the coolant will be lasting now? You are a very nice guy to your customers rants are OK by me. No matter how cheep they are they are no improvement to the existing quality of OE supplied services. Another reason i buy a car at a dealer and never go back except to visit the parts department when i need a quality part.

I bought a low mileage used Lexus ES330, it was 18 years old with 36k that I was able to confirm. The wheel bearing was loud so I reached out to the local Lexus dealer for a quote. They wanted $1100.00. My regular mechanic did it for $280.00. On a different vehicle a Honda dealer gave me a good price on a timing belt. I asked them what they were including as I had researched a Aisn kit with pump pulley and tensioner for 220.00. Their price was good but here was the scam, the tensioner if needed was an additional $300.00. I called them out in a review and the dealer tried to defend this. If anyone reads my review they will probably think twice before going there.

Love the rear license plate reveal of the local lying no good dealership. It is terrible that not only is the dealership profiting from unnecessary and non OEM services, but in essence they are introducing products that can void the warranty. Thank goodness that she keeps all the service receipts, in case that ever becomes an issue, she can prove that a Toyota Dealership did the actual work. Peter my curiosity is how did she find you? It is a big step for most to walk away from an official dealership. It would be cool to see you give the cars to their owner and get some innocent feedback from them for your channel. And I also recommend getting cool fake plate with your Channels name to protect privacy of the original cars license plates. Thank you for always providing true, honest and helpful video Peter

The timing chain cover oil seep is their gotcha. As you know, on the 2GR-FE to replace the cover requires dropping the engine; it's a $3000 job. Well, any time I bring my 2012 ES350 to the dealer (last time, to replace the dash under special warranty), they recommend that job along with a hole bunch of other BS. Yes, I can see the seep, but there is not oil dripping and the oil level does not drop between changes. A decent human being would say to the owner of a 12 year old car--just leave it alone and hope it doesn't get worse. But somehow we lose our humanity when we work for someone else.
