- You don't need to watch a whole feature length film to understand the nuances of hollow knight's lore! All you need is this quick easy video! A spoonful of memes helps the backstory go down.
Memes aside I hope you guys like this video because I put heaps of effort into it. Also I really do love mossbag ok, He inspired me to start my channel in the first place so when I dig on him it's just a joke.

well, the only change is that the weavers returned to their old home and the distant village seems nearly abandoned
This is SUCH a good recap, it could have included 3 seconds of Soul Master's little genocide but the rest is all here, this is going to be a very useful video

@@sebastianfeuerstein9306 after the dream boss Soul Tyrant you can speak with the soul master and from what he says you can figure out that some time before the Hollow Knight was sealed, the soul Master started studying Soul, a strange and somewhat pure-looking energy that appearently everyone possessed, looking for a cure to resist the infection, and even when the King openly stated to interrupt his work, soul Master kept hoarding Soul, draining it from other bugs of course. You can see all the corpses scattered around the soul sanctum. He and his followers obtained soul powers and were somehow able to resist the infection a little more, but eventually were driven to insanity.
The body count is not as vast as the King's, but it was still impressive.
Not as relevant to the whole plot, just a ""fun"" fact
@@arkaix oh yeah, I remember watching *mossbag's* video on that. The pale king actually stole the idea from soul master on how to stop the infection, soul master would later on complain to the knight on how he wasn't given any credit nor recognition for the discovery of soul energy
@@sebastianfeuerstein9306 In the area you fight his second phase in, so the fake-out with the repeated slams, look in the background. There are TONS of corpses.
@@sebastianfeuerstein9306 not really. pale king doesn't stole anything from soul master. infact, he completely resisted what soul master is doing. pale king is able to sacrifice himself and things related to him like his kids but not people of hollownest itself. That's why he go against soul master.

Side note, the bugs before the pale king weren't part of a hive mind, just mindless (except for the bugs in the... hive). The radiance probably only did the hive mind thing after the pale king got all up in her shtuff and stole the people who worshiped her.
Iirc she had some kind of influence on bugs outside of their own "Superior Being Circle", not a hivemind but some degree of the "warm light" comfort thing that some of the infecteds dream of.
I can get behind the mindless jumping the ship and being able to think "yeah, minds are cool as fuck", but the moths really had it coming by abandoning and almost killing (via I forgor) their own creator

Unn is a girl, and the bugs of hallownest weren't infected at the start, they weren't in a hivemind, they got into the hivemind after the pale king claimed the land as his own kingdom, taking the radiance's followers as his own , thus the radiance became mad and started the infection.

i knew this video would be good when i heard A Monster - Waveshaper(Furi ost) in the background
They were born in abyss.... and the first one to escape was the hollow knight...
So they were not thrown into abyss because they were not pure... they were not pure enough to focus on escaping...
That is confirmed by the tablet near the abyss stating „our vessel has assended”
This is just a theory. But a likely theory , another possibility is they have to complete path of pain (not my theory) or other methods that I’m to oblivious to notice (yeah your probably right)
if the theory is true, and based on the fact that our knight is the second one to escape, it proves that it is almost as strong as the hollow knight and is capable of saving the world

@@8ballman232 actually since it hasn't thoughts it is stronger than hollow knight. Also I believe it is stronger since it destroys the radiance instead of trapping it.
That's only in certain endings. In the most common ending it just traps it

Been awhile since I played and I only ever really picked up snippets of the lore. This was perfect. Just enough to refresh my memory without lingering too long. What a fantastic story and setting!

Actually some of the bugs in deep nest (Weavers and Beasts) are very intelligent. The weavers are referred to as the most intelligent tribe in the whole of Hallownest.

Actually a pretty good video, I didn't expect that going in after watching your very first Hornet void video. A few minor things, Unn is female and the Hollow Knight is genderless, you called both of them "he" in the video. There's also no evidence that the Radiance had a hive mind before the Pale King arrived. Other than that, you gave quite a clear, simple explanation of the overall lore, so well done.
The White Lady’s commentary on things “regressing” if not dealt with could be taken as evidence that the Radiance had a hive mind prior to the Pale King arriving on the scene.
The Hive Mind is hinted at in the Elegy for Hollownest at the start of the game

I'm surprised this video doesn't have more views since this is the video that explains all this the easiest
I think the radiance was nice and was seen as a “god” so they worshipped her and possibly the mantises did to but then the king came and said “Ok, this is my land now” the radiance becomes the big angy peach and infects some bugs until the hollow knight comes along from the experiments and they somehow kill the radiance but since she’s and infection now they put 98% of it in the mind of the hollow knight deep nest was still infected. Some vessels got out when the commotion was happening and one got killed by hornet the other some how tripped and broke its head open and one some how got around the hollowing cliffs winds and yeeted out of there
well she is a god, she is the main god of the Dream Realm. Radiance was sealed away in the Dream Realm before the infection happened and that's what got her pissed off
Maybe a nice T shirt will calm her down

This is so ridiculously amazing designed! Very high paced and hard to follow if you aren't familiar with the setting, but hell yeah this video perfectly fits my sense for humor in combination with information. Amazing work!

They bugs were actually most likely not in a hive mind when the pale king/wrym came but instead it only came later when the radiance forgotten and the bugs started remembering the radiance and being controlled by the radiance since they remembered her/him and the infection was a side effect of sealing the sealing the radiance in the hollow knight.
Edit: The vessels were actually probably made in the abyss by throwing the eggs in the abyss and allowing the void to corrupt the vessels and many probably died trying to climb up the abyss but other than that this video is mostly right.
Not exactly, a few mistakes here and there, but fantastically well made and entertaining video. Nice job!
