No X5 Lemans, E34 M5 Cabrio, or E46 M3 Touring , or any of the E30 or E36 M3 special editions my favorites being the Cecetto and GT versions. Only a Bangle could luv the E60 M5 ,but I will admit that engine sounds glorious.
I distinctly remember reading about an M8 prototype in motoring magazines back in the day. From (my distinctly hazy) memory someone had taken photos of the development car when it was being tested. And there was a lot of speculation it was going to make it to production. I'll have a look for the magazine but I've got hundreds and it could be any of them
Something that may fly under the radar is the Touring version of that M5. I had one in the same blue as the one in the video. It was one of the best cars I ever owned and I would drive it and wonder why the appeal of the much more expensive Italian car in my garage was waning. And I bought it from new and got the dealer to remove the M5 badge. So, I drove around in the fastest and best handling 520D for several years. I miss that car...
Well, they put two prototypes together at the time they were about to release the M2 Comp. They´re just demo cars for the board to decide, if they wanted to go for the M2 CS or the CSL, so they only had the N55 from the original M2 as placeholder. But yeah, technically you´re completely right, that in there is a N55. 👍
They are just listing the differences there between the M2 CS, where they would offer either the automatic or optional a manual transmission (as in payable option when you specced it from the factory). If they would´ve ended up to release the CSL instead, we only would´ve gotten the automatic, or at least was that the plan at that time.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the McLaren F1 engine was based on bmws v12 is that the same one used in the m8 prototype? I've also heard a story where they put it in a 5 series wagon and also an x5.
The M8 was originally envisioned as a Ferrari competitor equipped with a special version of the S70 engine, with modifications including a displacement increase to just over 6 litres, dual overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank, individual throttle bodies with roller valves, four valves per cylinder, carbon fibre intake manifolds and continuously variable valve timing. As a result, it was estimated the M8 would achieve a top speed of 198 mph, power output is 471 kW (640 PS) and its torque is 650 N⋅m (479 lbf⋅ft) A common misconception is that this engine powered the McLaren F1. The S70/2 used in the McLaren F1 was not based directly on the prototype 48-valve V12 used in the M8, and was a completely new design Hopefully this helps
Also, the engine in the F1 was called the S70/2. It doesn’t share much in common with the other BMW v12’s. It was closer to two S50’s (E36 M3 Motors) with a common crank. This was also the basis for the motor used in the Le Mans race cars, but isn’t really that closely related to any other BMW road car motors.
Yeah, but they didn´t stop after the X5 Le Mans, they also put that V12 in a Z3! Looks hilarious! 😆 And if you are curious, how that X5 LM sounds, search for the video " Inside BMW Group Classic - the BMW X5 Le Mans " , they fire it up at the end of that video. And i promise, you won´t be disappointed, that thing just sounds violent!
Some other not so rare, but still rare ///M - BMW E34 M5 Touring - 891 unit, still rarely can find some. E61 M5 Touring - 1009 Units, G Power version - not counted? Could be less than 100?
Okay, so BMW actually made 3 of the e31 M8s, known internally as "Der Bolide".... 2 of them got wrecked and the other one is in their museum..... Another fun one off, the original X5M, which was quite rowdier than the production version....
El bmw m3 gtr no existe en manos privadas, solo alguna unidad en manos de bmw. En realidad disimularon su venta para homologar las carreras americanas pero el Cambio de normativa les hizo frenar el proyecto.
Even BMW went back and ripped out that sh*t sequential gear box for the dual clutch on the E60. People still argue that it’s a good gearbox 🤦♂️ probably couldn’t find a manual.
I guess you have missed the part that there is exactly 1 M8 and is located at the BMW M museum in Munich. So, no, you 100% have not "bought the m8 for 10k". Maybe you have bought an 840i or maybe even an 850i, but definitely not an M8.
@@acenigerian3356 If it has a V12, it´s the 850i. But yeah, i´ve seen a couple as well by now that were for sale for around 10k, with not even that many kilometer on the clock. Most likely because that engine is a real princess and always wants something new for maintenance. And pretty much everything for it is hella expensive, so i don´t even blame you for not running it anymore. I love that car, but it´s the 840i you wanna own. It´s V8 is far more reasonable to maintain, but that´s also why it´s way more expensive to buy... But it´s a hell of a nice showpiece you got there for your yard! 😁👍
That E34 20 Jahre Edition though. 😍
I couldn't agree more!!
The M Division produced some very beautiful and elegant machines over the years. My hats off to those designers.
The M8 body styling is timeless, The 90's 8 series had character.
M5 CSL!!!!!! 621 hp 9000 rpm redline!!!! The M8 too
I seen one of these in person and it's so pretty
9000 german rpm
M8 is literally childhood dream, even the interior is beautiful
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome video as well

I really like this video actually pd evolution
Glad you liked it. Thanks so much, my friend.
@@pd07 you welcome
Sad they decided not to release the 1990s M8 !
But they did but only 1 and 1 is enough :)
The M2cs came with an S55 though, the regular one is the one that came with the N55

The M8 didn't make it to production. But the engine did. In the McLaren F1.
@@hkonhelgesen yes I know it didn't but there was speculation back when it was made that it might. Shame because it would have been an insane car
Correct ✅ 😎

E31 M8
Looks Epic
Great One! ❤
That e60 m5 😮😮😮😮😮😮
awesome cars 👍👍
E34love to my fav. Low-key the E46 GTR is cool man.
That M2 CSL looks like it has an N55 engine. 🤔
Yes you correct it has N55 not S55
Thought the same 😂

Im a pure Porsche-guy, but the M8 is absolutely stunnishing - what a great, massive good looking car.
This video made my day, always loved the 8 series and wondered why there wasn't an M8
u left out the e36 m3r
Was expecting to see the South Africa exclusive e30 325is and 333i's but it is what it is
I think the M8 is the sexiest BMW ever built or made.
E92 M3 GTS! OH YEA!
Fact : the M3 GTS engine is 4.4L big instead of 4.0
Oh no now I want the CRT too
You don’t talk about the Bmw x5 10 years edition I have 33/500
e90 crt one of my dream cars, if it had an manual instead it would be even more perfect
5:35 if there is only one made, what is the option means?

Top cars in the world just the best
Where’s the X5 LM? E34 M5 Estate S70 test mule?
Realy I like this cars
How about the E63 M6 CSL?
Could have mentioned the special m3 gtr, one of them was a road car with the full race car bodykit, unlike all the rest.
Wouahw.! 😍❤️
nice video but while we are at e46 there was only one prototype of e46 m3 in wagon/estate version
Ngl best BMW for me still to this date is M3 gtr le based on e46 I suppose
Love the M3 GTR E46
Please make again these (older) BMW's
I have the cs.
I have a 1M now can it get any better
This is the one I love the most.
What a line up of cars
Didn’t know the e34 m5 was a limousine lol
Great video but some of the german pronunciation is hilarious !!!

There are few more 1 of 1prototypes including E46 M3 Touring, E46 M3 CSL with V8 engine, Z3 with V12 engine and E34 M5 Convertible.
And one gen 1 X5 with v12 engine.
Some of those kidney grills are cartoonishly tiny in comparison to the kidney grills of today 😂😅.
I'm surprised that the 507 didn't make it on the list
You forgot BMW X5Le Mans V12 700HP AND E34 M5 Dubai edition 400HP
I lv number 1
E30 my fav
I'll stick with the M8.
No mention of the 1 off E39 M5 Touring . . .
M8 ❤
M8 🤩
What about the 507? Only around 250 of those.
i want them all plz even i have 4 bmws 2 mercs
The m8 prototype looks like a third gen supra.
You could've made this list with 10 cars instead of 8 if you added the E46 M3 Touring and the E92 M3 Truck; both one offs.
Thanks for your opinion.
❤️😍👍
❤❤❤👍
Forgot about the coolest one of all, the 2000 x5 Le Mans edition with the mclaren f1 v12
That’s a #1 right there
F82 GTS is the most hardcore, in my opinion!

Where's the BMW Nazca M12 and C2? Both are BMW mid engine hypercars from the 90's using the famous V12 BMW engine the McLaren F1 uses.
Love the click bait pic

V8, nothing else, now they have 4 cylinder Playstations.

what about the e63 m6 with active aero ?
I've got video of several rare BMW on my RUclips
