Dude! this video just saved me 300$. I was about to order a new Fleck 5600sxt Control Valve \ Head. I was on phone with water filter company for a while troubleshooting and we couldnt get the brine to draw. I took this valve off and saw that it was clogged. I drilled a 1/16" hole. Which was smallest drill bit I had and then started brine cycle and it started sucking in brine!.
I have the electromechanical fleck 5600. Need to bypass and throw timer to backwash before removing injector cover to release pressure. The suction I think is created by water flow. So another cause of it not drawing may be DFLC button. Drain line flow control. Like the injector it is a tiny hole that can become clogged. Periodic flushing with iron out probably will save you from clearing these components as often. Also, if you don’t want to wait to see if the tank is going down, or just check the suction of your brine line ( hose) you can remove the brine draw fill line from the brine tank ( if your system allows) throw the dial to Brine position with system on and place your finger on end of brine line. You should feel a little suction on tip of finger. That is good. If you feel no suction or if water is dripping out the end the you have clogged injector/DFLC button or otherwise not a air tight seal or leaky injector body. Not a plumber, I’ve just had to screw with one of these for 15 years.
Have to add that I am getting rid of the Fleck 5600. Bought new, installed by a professional and constant repairs. I use city water and it is very clean but a little hard. No excuse for this Fleck junk. This same plumbing company installed their preferred brand in a house I rent out. 2 1/2 years now and the renters never had to call for a repair or adjustement. I am annoyed...
I have an aquapro 5000, which seems like the fleck 5000 rebadged(exact same head unit). Seems to operate fine during a mnsuls regeneration, but when I go to use the water in the house I lose complete water pressure and nothing comes out. I checked the brine draw and it draws brine, I put in res-care but im not sure if it went through the system. The System isn't that old, maybe 5 years old. I stopped using it about 2 years ago because I lost water pressure. I'm trying back up and running.
Question. My Fleck SXT regenerates fine (I will still replace the valve and throat). However, when done, I am left with 8-10" of water en the brine tank ABOVE the white bottom insert. Thus it goes though salt like crazy. The float appears to work but should I adjust the float or? Regards, Bo
Question - I had an overfilled brine tank because it was getting stuck during the regen cycle. Once you fix the underlying problem (the injector in your case, seals and spacers in my case) do I need to manually drain the brine tank or will it fix itself? I would think it would just keep maintaining whatever level it is at if you don't drain it down manually.
I have the same question. The "throat" valve unscrews, but even after complete unscrew it is still recessed, so how the heck do you get it out? I tried needle nose pliers with no luck.
@chellquist I would think a device such as on easy out would work. They make all different sizes. They're made to remove broken bolts. They dig into what you're trying to remove ccw. I would try that before I would trust any other item. I don't know how small the come, so you will have to do a little research
Good camera work
Thank you so much! Mine was all plugged up and you showed me where to look and how to fix it. Appreciate you!
Great instructor showing instead of talking!
Geez, I spent all day looking for this. Thanks so much for the detail. I hope the link still works.

Thanks!.... Easy now that I see how its done
Great repair

As long as the settings are all still correct it will work itself out. It may be diluted too much from pumping in all the extra water.
Great video
If it was broke, how did you get it out

I know I didn't use any special tools I feel like a slotted screwdriver was used but this was a long time ago
Thank you
Do they sell that nozzle at local hardware store?
Did you have to depressurize the system before the injector fix? Thanks
Yes. Turn off power if mechanical dial, throw to bypass, and take system over to backwash. Then remove injector cover.
