    Fun tip guys for that gallon jar...you know those plastic tubs you buy with fancy nuts in them with the screw on round top? Those plastic tops seal very well on the big gallon mason jars for that :) Found it out when moving and needing something to seal my 1 gallon kombucha jar for travel. Just a tip to maybe save someone some money, just have to pull out that lil paper round in it and wash it good!

    We give this to all our birds, regardless of what age they are (especially in the winter). This is a commonly used mix, although we dont measure out.

    Hi Julie! I remember you from our Verge PDC! How cool to stumble on your RUclips channel. I’m wondering if I can make this more than 1 day in advance and if so, do I store it warm or in the fridge? Same question if I’m only getting 15 chicks and have a smaller quart(?) size waterer- how do I store the excess until I use it? Or should I make a reduced batch and plan on using what I make? Thank you!!!

    I was told to make the water warm anyway for new babies because it can chill them? Is that true? I usually leave their waterer under the heat lamp so it stay a little warm anyway and they seem to do well with it. Just curious if you had ever heard that before.
    Also, what do you use for bedding? It looks like fine pine shavings.

    How do you get them to drink it?
    After dipping them in the nutritious water, Will they just naturally drink it when they are hungry, or do I need to repeat showing them a couple time or have to hand feed them?
    My neighbors chicken abandoned a baby chick in my yard, and now I'm trying to keep the little guy alive

    Where do you order your chicks from? Is is better to order them, rather then get them from a farm store?

    • @ThisBeautifulFarmLife
      @ThisBeautifulFarmLife  5 лет назад +1

      We have been getting our chicks from Moyer Chicks the past couple of years. They come so healthy...better than others we've ordered from. One advantage in ordering over local is you can get all male or all female instead of straight run. The local feed store usually only has straight run. Our experience with layers is we end up with several roosters we don't want. With meat birds we prefer males only so we order. We absolutely love their Brown Layers. They even lay like crazy all winter!

      I’m giving this to my brand new chicks right now tomorrow will be the third day so I guess I’ll go back to regular water. Do you always put Apple cider in the vinegar from there on or do you only do it once a month?
      I have seen Post saying to do it a couple of days a week or one straight week per month but not all the time. There’s so many different opinions is very confusing for this new chick mama.

    • @heavymechanic2
      @heavymechanic2 3 месяца назад

      Those little packets are an electrolyte and really helps around the heat lamp, I buy mine in a 4-oz bulk pack for a 100 gal stock tank (mix 1/8 tsp per gallon). I use my own honey and the vinegar can help their little tummy as babies. I was told my chickens look healthy, I believe its from adding the vitamin supplement to their water as some feed may have a minimal amount.

    At day 12 why do they group together which unfortunately leads them to fracture their legs and the die .. although the temperature is 32 degree celsius ?

    • @JulieMikalson
      @JulieMikalson 3 года назад

      I hope u did research and got your answers before any chicks suffered! Generally they cluster from fear, heat or cold. Brooder which are round have less chance for corner pile-ups. Comfort at 12 days would be at 90 degrees F (i dont hv time to do C) and reduce a bit each week, as they seem happy. Be sure they can escape the heat source , and return freely. Hope all is well!

    Can this be given to older chicks?

    • @JulieMikalson
      @JulieMikalson 4 года назад

      Older Chicks who seem to need an energy boost can have supplements by food or water for a few days. But remember Chicks and egg Layers need a different feed blend. What she is giving here - is not FEED. It is energy water to help babies overcome the stress of being in the MAIL. The same day and around the clock all chicks need access to Chick Starter feed. Always have plenty of food and water available for Chicks - and Chickens - of any age. And let them have fun foraging for SOME of their feed on days, they can handle by age and breed - with shelter nearby.

      Nobody knows what’s good for chickens. It’s one of the most mysterious animals on the planet as far as what they NEED and what makes them BETTER goes. I’ve done it all and done the basics as well. The outcome is always the same. Give them regular clean water, vegetation and a good source of meat protein. That’s all they need.
