Hi Nerida thanks for this excellent video. Can you tell us what are the brands that you found not good for problematic skin? I pretty sure Mac is one 😊 for me at least. Thanks xoxo
Yes, Mac, Bobbie Brown and Nars. Beautiful makeups but very comedogenic sadly:(
Nerida Joy thank you. I always learn so much with you. From the bottom of my heart thank you xoxo
Thank YOU Edna xo.
Thank you beauty
Thank You Rachel:)
Hi Nerida, enjoying all of your videos! Last night, I saw the facial video on dark skin where you suggested to use retinol to even out the skin instead of alpha hydroxys because they can irritate dark skin and make it darker. I just received your q flavonoid, would that be considered an alpha hydroxy/ vitamin c that I shouldn’t use ( I have Afro-American skin) because of possible darkening/ irritation? Thank you!
The q flavonoid is not an aha. it is great for your skin coloring, and so is some aha's too. I prefer retinols for you coloring generally, but aha's can work great also:)) it just depends.
Nerida Joy -thank you so much, I appreciate the clarification and expertise. I hope to make it out to the West Coast one day for a Nerida Joy facial!
Sounds good:))
Nerida, do you have any tips on products or treatments to lessen the appearance/remove scars caused by shaving?
Can you send a pic to educateyourskin@gmail.com ? I need to see as there is different types of products for this:))
+Nerida Joy thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! I'll be sure to do that
Where can I find information about your workshops? Would love to attend!
You can reach out to my office at educateyourskin@gmail.com .Our next workshop is October in Dallas TX:))
I prefer liquid foundation, are there any liquid mineral makeups out there? I’m very fair so mineral makeup powder is almost always too dark for me
Yes, all the mineral brands I have mentioned have the liquids foundations also:))
What are your thoughts on the hydrafacial?
I have discussed this before .... any suction device stretchers the skin....they are ok, but massage is just better long term..... I always find there is not enough time to get through what I need to do in a treatment for my clients, and some things are just a little gimmicky....but that doesn't make them bad, just my choice of how I personally like to do my treatments:))
Hi Nerida, is it just the NARS bronzers and blushes that are comedogenic or are their foundations and concealers too?
I have mostly just seen it with the blush..... have not looked into it enough to confirm anything else with this brand. But i would be careful as the other brands mentioned is congesting across the board sadly:(
Thank you! I have been experiencing congestion on my cheeks despite good skincare and diet. My go-to nars blush and bronzer must be the culprits
yes, sadly...most likely is :)
Do you recommend prescription strength retinol for scars and anti aging or is it too aggressive? Also, do you have any recommendations for hairloss?
No, I never recommend prescription strength retinol as it is too strong and more importantly, not necessary!!!:)) Rejuvi has a hair loss line also...more coming about that. Also, viviscal hair vitamins are great for hair loss and thinning:))
Since acne is a inflammation disorder in the sebaceous glands, would you recommend people with really inflamed acne to stay away from tomatoes as well?
Strangely, tomatoes don't seem to affect most acne.....unless you have heat within:)
Thank youu!❤️
I don’t know if you’ll answer this cause the video is kinda old. But I was watching your vid on face mapping and one of the comments mentioned high cholesterol and it got me thinking...
My acne mostly consists of closed comedones on my cheek area, I can’t really pin point anything in my diet cause I eat a bit of everything, BUT I do have really high cholesterol for a 20 year old. Would that have anything to do with my closed comedones?. Cause no matter what I do with skincare products, once I get rid of the old ones, new closed comedones appear.
I also have little bumps that I don’t know what they are on my temples (that area where in makeup you apply highlight on the sides is your eyes and eyebrow), and this bumps I try to get them out but apparently they weren’t comedones, they’re just bumps and don’t know what they are.
I would really appreciate your opinion regarding this. Thanks!
Yes, comedones on the cheeks ..... you have to stop eating ALL dairy. No cheese, milk, ice-cream, chocolate, yogurts and no soy mild either. It does not work for you if you have the bumps and high cholesterol ..... as for the temples, could be the highlighter for sure.... what brand is it? Nars, Mac and bobby brown seen to always be congesting unfortunately:((
Nerida Joy thank you for your answer!!!
Hi Nerida. Are there any foundations you can recommend that are goos for acne/oily skin that are medium/full coverage.
can you reach out to the makeup pro's @isabellaschimidmakeup and @celebrity_make_up_artist Deb Davidson? Both the ladies are AMAZING and can give you a list I am sure:) I use a colorscience spf50 called Even Up. But the coverage is light:))
Is Cetaphil a bad cleaners to use
I use Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser
@@soralasilber9737 any non-foaming cleanser is good. I believe Ceraphil is non-foaming.
I love watching your videos. I was curious your thoughts on oil cleansing and clay masks. You may have mentioned it in a video I haven't seen yet. I have sebaceous filaments on my t zone and they don't bother me too much, I'm just wondering if I am making them worse by using oil products.
Some oil cleansers are great and the same with some clay masks. It all depends on you skin type and sub-condition. If you are surface dry don't let the mask dry before removing it:)) Just use lots of warm water when removing your oil cleanser also!
Is there an email that I could best reach you at to ask questions and send you pictures of my skin?? Or could I just message you through a social media outlet?
Please email me at educateyourskin@gmail.com with pics:))
Hi Nerida, I sent you a message through Facebook which included a few photos of my acne. I had some questions regarding which type of skin I have and discussing some of the issues that I've had clearing my acne and scarring. I still have not received a response. I was wondering if you check your messages on fb that often and if would be better if I emailed you directly.
Could you please send the pics to my office at educateyourskin@gmail.com Thank you:)
Have you heard of maca powder to balance hormones for hormonal acne?
Not that one especially, but there are certain plants and root vegetables such as wild yams that are excellent for hormonal balance:))
lethopefloat My Gynecologist recommended an herbal supplement called Femarin by Ortho Molecular Products for hormonal balance. It is only available through a doctor's office. It has Gamma Oryzanol, Bkack Cohosh, Dong Quai, Licorce Root, and Trans-Resveratrol. Just started taking it so too early to tell if it is working. 1 bottle costs $38 and lasts one month. There's info on the company website. Might be worth checking out discussing with your doc.
I had threading done on my upper lip a year and a half ago. I have sensitive skin and have since suffered with continual breaks out that will heal for a while then get come back in the exact same spot! It is like those spots wont heal for good. How do I make the break outs stay away and heal for good?
Strange, I would love to see this. It has stimulated some oil activity, and maybe its not being cleansed and exfoliated ??
@@NeridaJoySkincare Alright, where should I email pictures? I'll try and document the break outs over a span of time and take pictures each day. I just started using an a product with AHAS and Lactid Acid in it, so that may change some things.

Hi Neruda, I am new to your channel, I appreciate your valuable information. I am slowly making my way through all your videos. Not sure if you have already mentioned this, but can you please provide some anti aging skin care lines that you are impressed with. I have normal skin that tends to get dry/dehydrate. I try to stay away from fragrance, I just don't like overwhelming smells :) Many thanks xox
I have more to come with anti wrinkle...but Micah's video is a good place to start:))
Thank you kindly :)
Can egg whites be bad for acne? Or is it just the egg yolk?
Egg yolks.... for some types of acne...not egg whites:))
I used Rejuvi exfoliating mask and cleanser for the first time today, love them both. Makes my skin glow.
SO happy to hear that Divya:))
What would you recommend for non-pitted acne scars that you can do at home? Thanks!
HANNAH LANE can you tell us more, please? what do you mean by non-pitted acne scars? Do you mean pigmentation?
Yes, and it is fairly mild left over scars from acne.
Mm. Okay, g AHA cream for sensitive skin, to keep your skin gently exfoliating, and working on gradually lifting excess pigment off the skin. Q flavonoid to reduce irritation, feed the skin nutrients, and hydrate. Whitening toner during the day to protect and suppress the melanocytes from overproducing melanin.
Those would be nice treatment products to use. Of course I would say these things won’t work very well if you don’t cleanse well, or protect your skin with SPF, so:
AM:
1. K cleanser
2. Whitening Toner
3. G AHA cream for sensitive skin
4. SPF
PM:
1. K cleanser
2. Whitening Toner
3. Q Flavonoid
4. G AHA cream for sensitive skin
Devon has giving some great advice, and he knows the product line:)) After a month of the products he recommended you can add in a little retinol serum to use 3 times a week. Also, get the rejuvi exfoliating mask to use every 5 day also:))
Devon Pfeifer thank you so much 🤩
Hi Nerida! I would like to know your opinion on this, I am currently working for a skin care and cosmetic line, we just had a tranning class, and the lady was talking about retinol, and she said there are a lot of myths with it, like making your skin sensitive or that we must use it at night time to avoid sun damage to out skin, she said retinols make your skin thicker and we use it at night because the molecules in it oxidise with sun and air, that blew my mind so bad, because she basically said there everybody missunderstands retinol, btw they are about to lounch a product in topical capsule that will contain retinol and ceramides, night time use pf course but i would love to know your opinion on what she said... thank you!
Cristian Rodriguez she is not 100% wrong. It can make the skin sensitive, if it is very strong depending on the formula. But if it is tolerable it can fortify the skin for sure. There are some instances where you can use it during the day as well, depending on the brand. And yes, she is right about why it is not typically used during the day.
Hello Cristian, Yes retinol should mostly be used at night but what Devon said is accurate that sometimes certain brands make it ok for day time use also. It does thicken, firm and strengthen the lower layers, but it does make your skin more sensitive to the sun and environment for sure, so your sun protection application daily is a MUST:)
What’s the makeup brand?
Make-up brands that congest from my experience are Nars, Mac and Bobbie Brown. Beautiful make-up colors, but very comedogenic and problematic for oily acetic skins unfortunately
Nerida Joy omg been using Mac counseler for years and I’ve been struggling with my skin. So funny cause the cheek and chin where I use it the most is where I break out a lot 😩 I don’t use on my forehead or left side of check n they don’t have big of a breakout
Your skin will get better when you get off it. Unfortunately it just doesn't work with a lot of oily/combo skin:((
Where did you list the brands of makeup to avoid?
She probably forgot but hopefully she will respond to your comment. I do break out on the side of my cheeks, exactly where I put bronzer and/or blush! So I'm very curious about the brands!
Nars, MAC, and Bobbi Brown. I’ll say it for her. 😂
Nars bronzers definitely broke me out. 2 years later, I’m still battling the scars.
Yes, Devon sure does pay attention to my words lol.
Nars, Bobbie Brown and Mac. All beautiful makeup colors but very congesting for oily, acetic skin unfortunately :(
Ashley Jeanelle I’m an esthetician as well-I took her workshop a few weeks ago in June. 😁
Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser bad for your skin
