Fantastic video. When i was younger we made lamb close to this way in front of my parents house in Croatia. Nothing beats eating lamb after many hours of work and patience when it cooks over a wood fire. I never could wait and always rubbed homemade bread along the lamb to scoop up the fat. Brings back many warm memories of my father and how he cooked for us. Thanks for this great video. Love from Stipo in Holland

When I was a veterinary student back home, my organization sometimes had festivals wherein they toasted an entire calf. OMG. Meat was si tasty a almost melted in the mouth. Taste of heaven. Never tasted anything like that before or since.

I am Black and my Paternal Grandmother lived in Cuero, Texas. In 1951 (I was 10) I watched as my uncle dug a 5-6 foot deep pit. They put a whole calf on banana leaves and wrapped it in gunny sacks. They also did the same with a baby goat (called Cabrito). After wrapping the meat in cooking oil-soaked gunny sacks, they put the meat under metal pieces and covered the pit with dirt. 2 days later they unearthed the two animals, and Granny anointed them with her special barbecue sauce. I will keep that memory with me for eternity. Some of the best, most flavorsome meat I've ever eaten. Yum, yum yum
