      a vert large part of the US swim system and NCAA championships (which is what matters for college athlete of the year) use SCY format. Your argument makes no sense because it doesn't matter what is swum elsewhere, but it matters what is swum at NCAAs.

    I'm convinced he could've doubled the 200 IM and 50 free. in 2018 the winning 200 was 2 seconds slower than his SEC time and the runner up 50 free was 1 second behind. Granted, he wouldn't have gone 17.63, but imagine the legacy of winning 10 individual ncaa titles. I don't think anyone has done that before.

    Can someone explain how it's 1.38: for a record, when lochte had a 1:49 record considered as WR in short course? How is the gap so big in same pool conditions?

    • @baraklevy3344
      @baraklevy3344 4 years ago +4

      Just realized it's 22.8~ meters (25 yards) so it doesn't count as WR ?..in any case it seems like Underwater rules in such short course.

    • @swimfan752

      Meters vs yards

    • @jasonmcmechan2072
      @jasonmcmechan2072 2 years ago

      Good question! Ryan Lochte has the world record in the Short Course METERS (or SCM) 200 IM. This video here is the 200 YARD (SCY) IM. The US is the only country in the world that uses short course yards, short course meters is used for international events. 200 yards is shorter than 200 meters, therefore Caeleb’s time here is far faster than Lochte’s world record.

      Space QuackHD I agree on the short course yards to meters, allot of swimmer can't emulate what they do in yards to meters. But dressel has in LCM , and he smokes morozov in LCM. He's still adjusting to SCM, so as soon as he does, and has a real taper he will smoke the field. Any big name swimmer will tell you the same thing. So idk if your trying to discredit Dressel or compare him to other American swimmers, but he's in class of his own. You would have to be proud, or ignorant to see that.

  • @karstenk9467
    @karstenk9467 6 years ago

    You can’t count this as the record because it was done in a 25m pool meaning he had more time to do underwaters. He should try it in a 50m pool

    • @riverbnds
      @riverbnds 6 years ago +7

      it's not counted as the 200m IM world record, it's counted the 200yd IM world record. It was swam in a 25 yard pool, which does favor underwaters, a proficiency of Dressel's. Nobody ever said it was the new 200m IM record, you are mistaken.
