At 0:57 you noticed how strong Dressel’s flipturn is, he flips so hard that the splash he made was big enough to hit the flags and make it move a little, I find that very amazing
LOL, yeah umm... you know, the shortest race in swimming is very endurance oriented, such that even the best in the world struggle to go top speed the entire time. At least maybe that commentator thinks this!
Everyone is fading in the 50 free. The top sprinters in the world, including Usain Bolt, are decelerating in the 100M dash towards the end and they go under 10 seconds! A few lessons in biochemistry could help you people out. Look into ATP and phosphocreatine energy systems. There are only a few seconds stored in muscle tissue for explosive contractions at maximal force and it simply cannot regenerate itself quickly enough in that short of time that they are using the glycolytic system about halfway through. The phosphagen system stores less then 10 seconds of maximal force output in muscle tissues.
I really hate Rowdy's call on the 100 free - first of all, if he goes out in 19, there is no WAY he can come back in 20 - the start gives you about 2 seconds. So he's just wrong here. Also, to be the first man under 40 and have Rowdy talking in DOWN (because he didn't break 39?) is RIDICULOUS!
compared to his other races it was kind of reasonable. Like he dropped insane time in every race except the 100 free prob cause it was at the tail end of the meet. Im sure if dressel had the 100 free as one of his 1st couple events he prob actually does break 39.
That 17.63 50 is (in my opinion) the greatest college swim of all time and the only film of it that exists has got fumbling pre-pubescent commentary over it for all time. Painful.
MrOrlandosmoothe I don’t think you understand stand how historic his 50 free time is. A 17.6 is like how Usain Bolt went 9.5. Dressel was faster than everyone else by at least a second which is huge for a 50. Also the second fastest time is an 18.4 which was with a body suit and those were outlawed because they were to buoyant and buoyancy is swimming is huge.
You are not a swimmer? Cool, please move along and allow guys like myself that spent countless hours in the pool trying to achieve what this man just did our moment of awe

The greatest short course yards swimmer of all time
he was near to break world record in 100 butterfly budapest he went 49.85
Joseph Pelletier soon going to be short course meters, and 2020 olympics
Joseph Pelletier for a moment I thought u were Jospeh schooling
Cgjcjgckhcg Hvahvaygs lol not schooling
He just broke michael phelps world record
Way to sell it short in the 100 free. “He didn’t do it but he breaks 40.” 38 was your goal, not his.
LMAOOO so true. Just watched this video for ol’ time sake and was thinking the same thing. That was lame of Rowdy hahaha
These 100 yard races are ridiculous. Dressel took 19 strokes in the whole race!
He gets past everyone’s wave so early it’s unbelievable
What kind of idiot would say dressel is fading in a 50 free
LOL, yeah umm... you know, the shortest race in swimming is very endurance oriented, such that even the best in the world struggle to go top speed the entire time. At least maybe that commentator thinks this!
Its 50 yards, swam by the best swimmer, I doubt that the commentator can tell he's fading

@@jaredphd5587 anyone who thinks that dressel isn't fading clearly has never swam all out for more than a 25
He fades in the 50 free always. Don’t call people idiots just cus you don’t even understand the sport. It’s ignorant
He has to go 20 flat. It’s that “simple....”
simple =/= easy
I know right 🤦♂️😂 so easy guys (ultra sarcasm)
Stanley Kim 20 flat isn’t even hard, I can do that in my sleep
@@rjles_ No one doubts that you can do it in your dreams.

I love how they cheer so loud when he gets sub 18 that you can't even hear the commentator.

I think so too. He got way too carried away with it.

2023 NCAA leon Marchand 4IM 3:28.82 is in that convo now
Man they make a 25m pool look small
Axel Dickinson it’s yards actually. Not meters
It looks about 7 ft shorter... that’s just a guess though...
Lol why is espn doing such a terrible job of covering this?
Ikr that big ten network commentator ruins it
because it’s swimming. no one cares about swimming except the people that do the sport. it’s disappointing
Can we have a scy meet for pro swimmers just so I can see Dressel race it again
I agree SO MUCH, that would be legendary.
Alternate title: Watch all of Caleb Dressel’s races in the 2018 NCAA
crazy that now his start is even better than it was here
He. Is. Insane.
The fact this has less than 200 views..
the fact it was posted today...

Thumbs up if you’re new to swimming and have no idea how these guys travel so fast through the water haha 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

@Herbert Schnyder at the time of that comment I was 15/16, never got to go much faster than a 52 low because grades got me out for a semester in HS.
but he's gotta be back in 20 flat "it's that simple"
Spicy lebron
Why always short course?
that's the regulation length for ncaa swimming
It’s college swimming which is always scy not lcm
What do you mean by always? Like always in this meet? Cus it’s a short course meet. He swims longs course too so really no clue what you mean by this
not feeling the short course
Holy fck.
If I did swimming I would be better than Michael Phelps
lol nah

LeBron James Says the one who cant even beat the warriors.
tallswede80 No
"No"
isn't that what your mother said to you?
Wow the commentator, near end, is annoying
swimmers?:
"terrible turn!"
It was a pretty bad turn. Trust me Rowdy knows what he’s saying.
Um...it's yards not meters. It's really different
Why do you think no women enter mens races, or any other sport.??? Would a woman identifying as a man play in a mens rugby team.?
WTF
Watch 3 mins of swimming🤔
