    • @jamesbrains1350
      @jamesbrains1350 3 месяца назад +6

      I think there is a contextual difference between the two examples as green 1/1 elves are synonymous with the mono green strategy where as 1/2 white clue producers don't have a set archetype. The chances of two players wanting a thraben/novice inspector each is much higher than the chance of two different players wanting the elves.

    • @nyx-lm8ec
      @nyx-lm8ec 3 месяца назад +8

      In my eyes this is more an argument against elvish mystic. In the particular case of green, it needs a complete overhaul in the cube, and trimming the million ramp elves who often go unpicked is a necessary first step.

      @@jamesbrains1350that’s more of an argument against the double elves in my opinion. Because you’re basically saying, having 2 of the exact same elf doesn’t matter so much because there are like 7 other similar mana dorks. I don’t think exact copies should ever be in the same cube, and I would try not to have too many mostly similar cards either. I feel their should be a few less mana dorks in green, one less 4/4 haste green guy, etc.
      Having 2 of the exact same elf is particularly egregious because there are already so many similar ones.

    Please consider doing an old school LSV move where you would “cut” colors by taking a double/triple pip card first pick (hopefully blue). There have been some drafts where you opened what you describe as an unimpressive pack with cards like Cryptic Command in them (ok well let’s grab that). Also, it's one of the more premium 1 drops for a lot of white decks, if you're looking at cutting 1's in white, there are several that are less powerful and support less archetypes than thraben and novice

  • @Vermilio893
    @Vermilio893 3 месяца назад +2

    In match 3 game 1, doesn't remand + drain do it because of the following: you remand oracle the first time they cast it, they would either let remand resolve and go for breach which you can drain, or they crack LED with remand on the stack to replay oracle, which again, you would be able to drain the 2nd time. Perhaps I am missing another line available to them

    • @bumpasaurus487
      @bumpasaurus487 3 месяца назад

      Remand plus drain wins in many ways, including the way LSV played it, by just mana draining the oracle, then remand it when he tries again, it ends up being just enough, as he’s one card off from recasting it when all said and done. Because he only has 1 blue mana left after the remand, so he would be forced to cast LED and thassa, and not enough graveyard fodder.

    Inspector Discussion: I think its totally fine to add Novice Inspector since that effect is just "A decent white 1 drop." I think its ok to even ignore the fact that it's a functional duplicate card. There are less powerful white one drops in most cube lists. Looking at you Usher of the Fallen. Savannah Lions just doesn't feel like what we're trying to do in cube anymore, even with a tiny, rarely gets used, token maker upside. If you have a card that's better than that to play in a comparable slot, you just should.
    Specifically comparing to Usher, I think that inspector #2 is better in Artifacts, better in Control, Better in Lurrus 4-5c, and only marginally worse in aggro. Neither card gets played in other combo decks. So don't ask "should I have 2 inspectors?" ask "Why am I playing savannah lions over this cool clue 1/2?"

    One way this draft could have been improved is pack 3, pick 2 simply taking the Hallowed Foutain over the Vendillion Clique when you already have so many great playables. While LSV was picking the V Clique he was already saying how dissapointing the pack was + "really hoping" the Hallowed Fountain would wheel, which of course it didn't. V-Clique ended up being sideboarded, so essentially the pick was wasted anyway - so why not take the Hallowed Fountain directly.
