I remember being so hyped for the next Gen version of Staff of Kings, I really hope "the great circle" is popular enough to warrant a revisit to this game.
When the great circle trailer came out last winter my boss took a week vacation so I got the week off too. I went out and bought a wii and this game just to play it cuz I’d already played infernal machine and emperors tomb, good memories, the mini co op campaign was awesome, made my pregnant wife play it with me lol and we had some fun
Perhaps if 'The Great Circle' ends up being a success, we could just get a next-gen port of 'The Staff of Kings'. Personally, I'd prefer a proper next-gen version of the flagship 'Staff of Kings' we never got (w/all the missing levels), but wouldn't mind the former, if nothing more than preservation at the highest possible resolution & mechanics.
In cases of the face buttons being used to move on the DS, that may have been intended as an accessibility feature for left-handed players. However, being able to have separate control scheme options would be best, I think.
This was my first game for the Wii and I really enjoyed it a lot back in the day. I doubt I would enjoy it now that I am a lot older with all the waggling, but still I remember it to be a good kind of waggling compared to other third party games for that console.
I'll be honest; I had no idea there even WAS a Nintendo DS version of this, and I had both the DS and PSP versions of The Force Unleashed. I was following this since they announced the HD flagship version and knew Behaviour Interactive's last-gen ports came out eventually on Wii and PS2, but somehow missed the handheld versions. Interesting to see everything here
PSP is the definitive version to play it adds more to the story and you get more background on the characters especially Professor Kingston and Magnus Voller and it was developed by ex Collective staff who worked on Emperors Tomb.
I actually grew up with the DS version and had a great time with it despite its flaws, it’s quite nostalgic for me. Recently picked up the Wii version and gave it a shot too, it definitely was rough around the edges yet a valiant effort to make an Indy game!
This game was basically the Frankenstein of what instead we could've had. There was another Xbox 360 exclusive Indy game that was set to release 2008 Summer, and they cancelled it. That game was where GTA's Euphoria system was developed btw. That game would've been the best Indy game to date.
I remember seeing the ads for this game on Battlefront II on the PS2. Made me want to play it since it looked like it would play similar to Force Unleashed
I only had a Nintendo Wii for most of the PS3/X360 generation. I'll always remember the double-dip of disappointment while watching the physics engine demos for Staff of Kings and Force Unleashed, only to find that the Wii couldn't handle that engine and are basically totally different games. Although I at least got a little bit of the last laugh with Force Unleashed because the Wii version ended up superior in a lot of ways to the PS3/X360 versions (which I did eventually get to play).
I remember playing one Indiana Jones game on my PSP like 12 years ago. It could have been this one. I don't remember much, just that there was a plane level or cutscene near the ending. After seeing PSP footage, yeah, that's the game
I got this game for the Wii for my birthday and I loved it! The only thing that stunk was that I made it up to the piano section and was never able to get passed it so I was never able to beat the game. I also wasn’t able to collect enough artifacts to get the Han Solo skin
I had the Wii version of this game and I played the co-op with my older brother once. I was very confused as I thought the co-op mode was the game as I had never seen the single player mode until now. I sold it years ago, but now I’m curious about checking out the PS2 version.
It's weird. I absolutely loved the previous two games growing up, but this game went completely under my radar for years. I wonder if that was in large part because the flagship versions were canceled
I'm most curious if the PS2 version also has the old point and click game included. If so, that and the bug fixes would make it the best one in my eyes.
Man we could have gotten like a cool collaboration with Indiana Jones, tomb raider and uncharted at some point down the road. Although considering what's going on with 2 of those 3 franchises and uncharted is definitely done I would not want them to bring Drake back and somehow ruin him just like what happened with indy and just like what happened with Lara. Either way another fun solid video although Liam Neeson as Indiana Jones would be funny lol.
I owned this game and didn’t play it too much. I didn’t like how it was kind of restricted on the controls. Indy seemed to be slow and there wasn’t much exploring or free range like emperors tomb. Emperors tomb is the gold standard for me. You were able to control Indy more freely. I still haven’t beat it but I do remember being disappointed.
I remember playing this on the Wii in one sitting. The rest of my family went out Christmas caroling but I was sick as a dog so I just sat on the couch and sweated out the sick by punching nazis with the Wii remote. Good times.
I love that the staff turned into a snake at the end 😂 he hates snakes and Moses' staff turned into a snake multiple times in the Bible so it just fits so well.
If I had a dime when PSP port of a Lucas Arts game was superior to it's bigger console relatives, I would have two dimes. Which isn't much but it's weird this happened twice.
This game was the reason I bought an XBOX 360 back in the day. I was definitely annoyed when I found out the next gen version was scraped and downgraded.
Man I got stuck on the piano level on the airship. After enduring through all the motion controls through all the game, I got completely stuck in that part and could never finish it. I really wanted to like this game but those motion controls sucked so bad! Maybe one day'll play through the ps2 version and finally finish it.
I feel like if Lucas would have stopped trying to do video games himself and actually out source properly he would have been rolling in money. Like could you imagine instead of Naughty Dog doing Uncharted but an Indiana Jones. Like I'm not saying that is what would have happened. Just that there were definitely better developers out there.

Your comment aged well.

I still remember this game and being bummed it wasn’t on PS3 and Xbox 360
crazy that staff of kings and the force unleashed are sister games and both ended up with a PSP version thats the best version of themselves lmao
Thank you for finally making a video on this game Flandrew! Staff of Kings is basically the Battlefront 3/Elite Squadron of Indiana Jones games.
Is that good or bad thing?
@@hermos3602 it’s unfortunate that both games had their Lucasarts versions cancelled

this game was really fun on the PS2

New flandrew video ! Perfect timing, I’m stuck in bed sick and this will totally hit the spot

I feel like the Wii version really missed a trick with not having a bit where you use the Wii remote to use the staff to drown the Nazis.
They are currently kind of in a streak of re-releasing old PS2 Star Wars games, maybe they could do the same for Indy!
@pedrotudoyt - I'm sure they could. But will they? Guess it depends how much it would cost to port & retexturize the game in HD.
Looks like you were right!

I love Flandrew, it's so interesting to see the differences in all the versions. Keep up the good work :D
The only Indiana Jones vids i wanna see

3:41 they added a little detail that if you whip the piano, it's lid will close on the players hand
Not gonna lie, I only bought the Wii version just for Fate of Atlantis. It was only six dollars, too. Quite a steal if I do say so myself.
I still own it on the Wii and play it every now and then :)
Same here and still good fun with the co op and multiplayer modes

Nice work my friend,keep forward❤
I remember buying the psp version at gamestop, best version imo
You can't honestly say that unless you've played all versions yourself.
@@HOTD108_ but paradoxically, it is also really hard to play the other versions lmao
Just like with Infernal Machine, I have a copy of each version of this game.
PSP is the definitive version to play it adds more to the story and you get more background on the characters especially Professor Kingston and Magnus Voller and it was developed by ex Collective staff who worked on Emperors Tomb.
So the psp version is our emperors tomb spiritual sequel

I've never played an Indiana Jones game, but for some reason, 1UP's coverage of the Wii version of this game really stands out in my memory.
Very nice video. I've enjoyed every second of it.
I used to replay this game all the time on the ps2. Definetly one of the reasons i fell in love with the Indy franchise.
They just announced that they gonna port the ps2 version of the Staff of Kings for ps4/ps5 next week!

Great content as usual! What irks me though is that so much of your footage has the wrong aspect ratio...

So weird I’ve never heard of this game before. Huge gamer and Indy fan too.
Loved the DS version growing up. I think it’s a pretty impressive looking game on psp
Now THIS is the true Indiana Jones game for me. I had so much fun when I played it on my Wii.
This game was kind of fun as a kid. I remember giving up at the giant ball puzzle, though. I just couldn't figure it out.
I love that Flandrew's Liam Neeson impression has been slowly turning into Macho Man. I approve. Let the cream rise to the top!

The Wii Remote graphics onscreen is so distracting! Takes up have the picture! Shame we didn't get that awesome next-gen version.

I remember all the talk about the rag doll physics on 360 and always wondered what happened to that Indy game...
I would love to see you do all the Resident Evil/Biohazard games
💯
An Indiana Jones game with GTA 4 physics sounds rediculously surreal
I got to say all versions of this game look fun enough.
I don't care what anybody says. Using the wii mote to punch bad guys in this game was cool.
Cool but not fun

I tried the NDS version many years ago, but got bored very quickly. Maybe some day I'll give it a try again
PSP for the win got to play a cancelled version of a Indy game and battlefront 3 as well I just always thought they were just random psp standalone
Update from the future. The Great circle is great
I have the wii version, I can't get past the piano crane section.
Indy being tired and grunting a lot? Maybe he has dysentery. That would explain why he just shoots the guy with the sword in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
