Vacation House Build - Post and Beam

- This is a vacation house project we are currently working on for a private investor. This video part will cover the build from the installation of the metal brackets to the concrete slab up to the preparation for the roofing tiles. All the posts and beams are made from laminated timber in GL24 class. Posts are 16x16cm, braces are 16x10cm, beams are mostly 18x20cm and rafters are 10x32cm. We tried to do most of the work in the workshop so the cutting on the site was brought down to the minimum. Each post and beam was cut to measure, all the slits and holes were drilled. We hired a laser cutting company to cut all the steel elements, then we welded them into nodes in our workshop. All the steel is hot dip galvanized. It took us about two weeks to prepare everything in the workshop and about a week to assemble it on the worksite . For more info, turn on the CC for subtitles.

"Vacation Home" yeah this would be classified as a bomb shelter in the US 🤣 beautiful work as always ❤
😅thank you very much!
Always happy to see a new LIGNUM video. The CC comments are much appreciated. Nice job on the house, video, and music.
Leaving a like for the transition at the end!
Ouyeaaahhh...😁 thank you
That was a great transition!
Great build! The metal brackets and wooden structural elements size may seem an overkill but, if I am not mistaken, that is a region of the globe where buildings must withstand the effects of earthquakes. Add the weight of the winter snow and building like a tank is the only way to go (and meet code, I guess).
Beautiful real life Lego and for sure a joy to erect. And a lot of unseen planning and shop man-hours. Thank you for sharing your skills.
It mostly depends on the structural engineer and architect. Some prefer hidden steel so we have a lot more precision work and some just want it simple and strong. But yeah, this house is in area with possible heavy snow load so better be sure..
No corners cut and no compromise made post and beam structure. This is proper way to go. Compliments for the crew, as usually.
Thank you very much!🙂
@@lignumchannel I went a bit futher and share this video at US channels dealing with post and beam construction. This frame is by factor of 10 far superior than anything i've seen available there...
The precision and ease of assembly speaks to your professionalism and dedication to quality work! Excellent as always!
Your signature metal spline , bracket and bolt motif ..JUST RIGHT...BUILT LIKE AN HEIRLOOM GETAWAY...
IT WILL SURVIVE.....MAKE SURE THERE IS A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ..!
Мне нравятся ваши методы. С удовольствием работал бы с вами.
Awesome video as usual! Really like the subtitles with explanations, very interesting. I'd say that the brackets from a theoretical point of view is quite overkill BUT from my personal point of view they are truly a technical and mechanical work of art, and very install friendly, therefore not overkill, you keep doing what you are doing, it's very impressive all of it. If I were to move to your country I would definitely hire you to build my new house. Greetings from Sweden.
Wake up babe, Lignum has posted!
😊
Another instant epic from Lignum. The amount of man hours that you just condensed into an 8 minute video for us doesn't go unnoticed. What a treat to watch!
I think this video is our early Christmas gift!
Thank you very much!🙂
Awesome structure and project!! (as expected from you)
Thanks a lot!😁
thanks for your opinion, beside i appreciate you shed and coop related things building programs
1:49 Not over-kill, excellent work!! Where's the ''cheerleader in spandex? Love that girl!!! Only other thing to mention is we'd like longer videos. You guys do very good videos, well produced and great shots and so on.
very nice work, i am building a 9,5x4,5 by 6,5 high timber framed house at the moment and see a lot of similar things we are doing (except for the brackets). Quality as always guys!
I hope the work goes smoothly! Thank you for watching!😁
I always enjoy watching your videos 😀
07:22 Why not use larger size plywood?
Since using small-sized wood, it seems to take more time than using plywood.
Love watching you guys work.
Thank you very much Dave!🙂
Awesome Fortress with a view!
Yes it is!😁
Not the video I was waiting for from you but it is also satisfying to watch, I wish that everyone would build things like you
🙂thank you very much! Don't worry, a house update is coming soon!
overkill brackets? just say "that will go nowhere!"
😁exactly!
Where can I buy those metal brackets?
Looks amazing G !!! Another nuclear-missile-direct-impact-resistant house. I think that roof can hold like 5 meters of snow hahahaha. Cheers mate!!!!
😁thank you! Yeah, I bet that even 5 meters would be a childs play for this roof..
Great teamwork! Excellent job framing and roofing.👍
Nice editing too.😊
Glad you liked it!😁thank you
Awesome 🙂
Nice work!
Thanks!😁
Always beautiful my friend 👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much😁
Awesome. Did you stain the wood on site to keep the fumes down in the workshop? Looks like a lot more work to stain them in situ. Excellent viideo, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! No particular reason, we hurried to get the wood out of the workshop as soon as possible..
I've always wondered how leveling is done.
Lego build. Level 1,000 hurricaine approved 😂
Last house standing😁
Hey! Fantastic construction! Why such a small ridge beam?
Why not stain the beams before you put them up?
We were in a hurry to get the wood out of the workshop, it would be easier to do it beforehand, I agree.
gdje je video vjenčanja? čovječe hrabri se i oženi se!!! :D
Čestitke brazilskom paru 🥳🥳🥳
Još malo😁
Beautiful work! Do you model everything in CAD software to get it all eight in the shop? If so, which program do you use?
Thank you! Yes I do! I mostly use autocad but sometimes rhinoceros.
nice. for such projects without electricity it is better to use battery powered impact wrenches and nailguns instead powering a air compressor from a generator. and you do not need to ask neighbours for a favor too.
Is this a material kit you can buy?
No, this was a custom project.
I see you're pretty handy with your long reaching paintbrush, but how good are you with it when it comes down to doing the cutting in and keeping within your area's when doing the touch ups 🤔.
Пул щит
Why use all of those metal brackets?
Why not?
Big snow and wind load in this area.
I love your videos but they alos make me sad. There's no way I could get that much done in a little over 8 minutes.
😁I wish I could also!
Where is the robot???
Safely working in the workshop..😁 to be honest, I didn't use them for 6 months until few days ago.. That's just how the projects got contracted..
.
Beautiful frame. I hope you don't cover it all up!
Feels odd to watch guys not tied off on the roof. Oof, OSHA has ruined my sense of "normal."
