Ah yes, the classic VGA port standard on all RTX cards.
I love VGA ports, man. Removing them was like removing headphone jacks from smartphones.
lol
Im still hearbroken they removed RCA :(
VGA port can support g-sync :D

I honestly don't really get these scam cards at this point. A brand new, or at the very least, refurbished GTX 650 for 35 pounds isn't...awful. Why don't they just advertise these cards as cheap options for budget builders and advertise them as the cards they actually are?
Would you rather buy an old card or a new powerful cheap maybe real one?
You can get 2nd hand GTX 770's for the same price
@@rincaine1026 I got an Rx580, an i7 2nd gen, 16 gb gddr3 2666 ram and a mobo for 250$, so yeah a 770 should be easy

In the used market.
That Chinese character just means 'year'. It has no value or number associated with it
Ah right. My fault. It just showed up in Google Translate. Nice to know.
And it was written in a very awkward proportion. While I am not a forensic graphologist, as a native Chinese speaker/writer I would say it was written by a non-native user mimicking the logogram; young children in the progress of learning how to write this basic character might write it in this manner, but those tapering horizontal strokes showed speed not achievable by young learners.
@@dormcat Agree, that's a very poor handwriting, but come to think of this, nowadays people are writing less and less......
exactly what i was thinking
This is what it should look like: 年

2010's: "But can it run crysis?"
2020's:" But can it run minecraft with raytracing?"
Someone needs to mod Crysis to add raytracing.
@@IanC14 No! Please god NO!
On minecraft the SEUS PTGI shader isnt ray tracing its path tracing, the differences arent that big but its still not ray tracing
@@newman4933 Yeah, its not Ray tracing, Works and looks utterly great though.
@@newman4933 Path tracing is a type of ray tracing if I'm not mistaken.
Honestly if they just sold them as gtx 650's then that would be totally fine, great card at that price for budget gaming.
@waffeltek What card are you proposing? I am just saying that this is a decent option for the price/availability because it seems to be decently refurbished assuming they take older cards and replace the board.
@waffeltek That's definitely a decent option, I wouldn't say it's five times more powerful though. I am just saying for a card you wouldn't have to clean out and renew yourself this is not a bad option assuming it has the correct bios.
On the used market, you can get waaaaay better graphics cards, I recently bought a 1060 3gb for $65. A gtx 650 just isn't a good deal even at that price.
Other cards i've bought used:
Rx 580 8gb - $75
Rx 560 4gb - $50
GTX 970 - $80
GTX 770 - $45
If the option is available, local deals are always preferable to online purchases when you're trying to build a truly budget system.
@@DenianWriter The only problem with cards like that there is a gamble with longevity because the gtx 1060 and rx 580 cards have been used for mining, you have a risk of getting a card that is at the end of it's life. As for the local deals, that is a good point and should almost always be your first option especially since it helps with e-waste. There are sometimes issues with local deals though, such as dealing with possible property theft being re-sold, seller doesn't know what they are selling, price gouging in rural areas where people don't care about computers and such. Good points though, I do applaud you!
@@DenianWriter Also to add on to what I was saying, in my local "deals" the only card that is not price gouged is a dirty blower style card for $40. Anything better then that is something like a gtx 970 for $120, crazy I know right?
A £35 graphics card that runs most games at 30 - 60fps is actually a pretty great deal to be honest.
Take a shot every time he says “Actually”.
You would be drunk at the end of video.
Actually, I don't want to even try that.
Actually, how many times he said "actually" in this video? I'm actually lost count actually.
yep, i thought i was listening to austin evens there for a minute. and I "actually" counted 37 times (sorry, couldn't help myself, had to get one in the comment somewhere)
"RT 2060 SUPER". They actually invented a new model...
The Chinese will create a R 3090 for 10€

@@frozenturbo8623 The RX 3095 Super Pro TI 24GB
I laughed when I saw the VGA port. The 2000 series doesn't have the RAMDAC anymore, so it's literally impossible to get native VGA output from those chips. In order to have VGA output, they'd need to convert a digital output to analog separately.
nikomo can’t displayport be adapted to vga?
@@SuperCookieGaming_ It can
SuperCookieGaming I think it’s both mini and normal DisplayPort that have built in conversion into them, I’m using a graphics card with mini display port connected to a vga monitor using an adapter.
@@EricMasten-Archive so you can get vga from rtx cards with passive adapters
@@SuperCookieGaming_ yeah , of course , i use though adapter from dvi to vga on my 770 but there are plenty of good hdmi, display port adapters , so its possible
When you decide enable ray tracing in minecraft
That RTX Card: BSOD later
Wait...that's the SEUS shader. It doesn't even leverage hardware accelerated ray tracing. X3
Do I win a prize ?!?...
When you posted a preview picture hours ago, I called this one exactly perfect.
GTX 650 (1GB version).
Most likely originally a _Kinology_ brand card for the Japanese market.
About two years ago, a well known importer dumped thousands of these authentic Japanese market 650's on NewEgg in the US for about $18 a pop...
I picked up a handful then because they go great in retro WinXP builds...
But the way these scammers work, I would wager that a shipping container full of them "fell off a truck"(cargo ship) and just happened to land in China.
Now you can spot scam cards a mile away by that distinctive cooler shroud... though they often change the sticker on the center of the fan hub.
@@KomradeMikhail That card is a KFA2 GTX 650 with the cooler flipped round 180 degrees. It's a genuine card from back in the day, I still own one
The frustrating thing is I'd argue there's a legitimate market for cheap, well performing cards. If they were honest about the model, I think this would still be a pretty decent card to purchase.
fake cards sell better. its just a scam marketing strategy

the chinese symbol says "year", nothing more
I wonder if those cool looking Chinese characters on Chad really mean anything at all.
That's pretty unsettling, like it's an scp or something.
*y e a r*
@@InternetUsername there's a mythical story about a beastly creature called "year", so i guess it can be an scp
You have much confidence in shady Chinese hardware to install it in your main PC. I like your boldness
This is getting ridiculous, I would hope that even the most naive system builder would recognize that if you buy an RTX 2060 for 35 bucks, you're definitely NOT going to get an RTX 2060. I seriously wish these "scammers" would just label these cards for what they are. I mean 35 dollars for a GTX 650 is actually a fairly good deal for a budget builder.

I instantly noticed the GK107 chip number poking out from under the cooler. Thought it was a GTX 650!
This is weirdly awesome, and the grim fandango music just made my day. Thank you for the video
2:12 I can already tell by the GK107 just above the Nvidia logo what this is going to be...
There is literally one on my desk right now...
I would be extra suspicious of these cards with modded bios, since as far I know, anything plugged on PCI-e has DMA (Direct Memory Access) and could, theoretically, be used to steal information as a virus sort-of...
Chinese knockoffs try to be so clever lol. I love how they tried to emulate the EVGA logo, when really the only VGA thing about it is the video out port. So TECHNICALLY, it's not breaking Copyright/Trademark law, nor is it fraudulent advertising. Clever.
Emulation boxes that try to fool grandma into thinking she bought a PS VITA do the same thing.
5:38 I love the fact that it recognizes the Gddr5 ram instead of the 2060's Gddr6
Keep up the good work! i regularly share your channel to my techy friends and i hope you keep growing. I'd love to see you do some more builds around 100-200-300 pounds to give younger gamer an idea of how easy it is to start in PC gaming.
It’s amazing to see how good a gtx 650 still is, it was the card of my first pc built
So basically, for anyone in the know, you can order the fake then claim on it and get it feee. That might actually teach em a lesson!
Seeing that years back, scams like this are far less furnished; most did the "refund" claims and got the cards for free. However seeing an improved scam tactic after all that revelations makes me think that they learned a lesson, for the worse.
Don't ebay usually insist you destroy the item and send proof of destruction for fake item refunds? And also you may need to pay customs charges.
@@charliefoxglove4471 i think they let you keep it as i heard that from some youtubers
@@charliefoxglove4471 I have never experienced that from ebay, and have gotten refunds before for scam items.
@@charliefoxglove4471 Not normally, no. In fact there are a lot of genuine ebay sellers out there getting burned by the "No questions asked, refund immediately" policy by the scammers on the buyer side.
Not the first one of your videos with some Sims background music. I like it. Good choice 😁
Interesting. I bought a scam card accidentally 6 or 7 years ago. It was supposed to be a gtx 650 but was actually a geforce 9500 gt. It had the same cooler as the scam card in the video just black/blue instead of grey/blue. Apparently they don't update cooler design often lmao.

I did not expect to hear PMD music in a video about a graphics card scam. Great taste!
These companies should just advertise them as-is, I mean a Kepler-based GTX 650 still has its uses for those who need a discrete card.
And as always, it's a great video about these scams.
Just to let you know my friend! Google is not letting your notifications to actually hit! I never get any notifications since 2017 while I subscribed and opened bell then.
It might be worth resubscribing? Not too sure how to fix that. But I hope there is some sort of fix out there
The Chinese character on the box says "year"
Ahhhh the mystery dungeon music in the background. Very nice seeing as Mystery Dungeon DZ released yesterday 😍😍😍
Loving the weekly videos
Does this also count as a GTX 650 review?
I suppose yes
that should be natively supported by OSX, was just checking compatibility list a few seconds ago:P
Brilliant video! You can still use those old GPUs even today for modern games.
Is that "Mr. Frustration Man" from Grim Fandango playing about around when you open it? Excellent choice!
on the flip side, this video made for a nice gtx 650 promotion
"So this right here is a package"
Dear God!
"But by now im sure that most of you who have been watching this channel for a while can tell exactly what that means"
Noo!
Enjoyed the pokemon mystery dungeon music in the background
In Japanese that symbol means year. Probably the same in Chinese.
The Crysis and DOOM benchmark surprised me.
Crysis performs around a top card from 2009
And Doom is pretty well optimized, around what I expected after trying it on my OC'ed 660 Ti
It didn't surprise me, but I had that card so I know how those games ran on a GTX-650.
Just don't ever run anything that needs more than 1GB of VRAM, I once tried Nier Automata and the card just couldn't keep 14FPS at the lowest resolution while not much was happening on screen lol.
The Chinese symbol translates to the word "year"
The Russian Floof Cat I was going to say the same. 年 just means year.
i like that you put the pokemon mystery dungeon soundtrack in the background
On The PCB under the Cooler it says GK107 ^^ That takes away the Fun a bit :D 2:38
in this case rtx stands for real trash xpectations
Did u wear a mask while opening this ?🤣
Yo, those ray tracing on your CRT are dope bro.
love all your videos :)
Nice tht you got most of your money back, and you managed to get it flashed to an actual GTX 650. If they actually sold these as GTX 650s at competitive prices, they'd actually sell a lot more of these GPUs.
Also, the car radio that they said they'd send isn't great: I've seen that exact same model before (in fact I have one for a portable boombox project) and whilst it would be OK as a cheap portable boombox (when housed in a suitable enclosure, with suitable speakers) I wouldn't bother putting it inside a car, not unless (a) the car has no radio at all or (b) you intend on swapping out a better radio for the purposes of selling the aforementioned car.
Would you believe they sent me a doubleDIN variant and it was actually alright, went into a friends car that has long since sold, sometimes see it about 👍
Hi.
What's it's emulation possibilities?
Thanks.
Great vids.
That Mystery Dungeon background music tho :D
i do like the pokemon mystery dungeon background sounds in this one.
Immediately knew what it is from the shroud, i have a 650. The real one also has a 6-pin it needs but actually doesn't need.
2:54 For some reason, I waited for this exact finger move.
Digging the Grim fandango OST
Its nice that you still use an R9 Fury. I bought the Sapphire tri fan card for $101 and it performs very well.
There's something cathartic about watching videos about PC hardware with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon music, gotta say.
That grim fandango in background :goodvibes:
i had a i5-2400 with a 650 TI windforce pc for a while. Ran Battlefield 1 at 1080p medium/low settings just fine. the 6 series is still valid for low 1080/720P as long as u get a 2gig card
i still love my little 650 i bought back in the day and seeing what it can STILL do blows me away more
One of my favourite things to do with these scam cards is looking at the ports and trying to work out which generation of Nvidia it's actually based on from them... Soon as this one came up I was like, HDMI, VGA and DVI? that's gotta be a 6th gen
I think I have one of these sitting here. Missing the fan(s) and IO shield. It actually says GTX 650 ti on the label. It opens, but it throws errors
I have a GT640 as emergency backup, quite helpful to have around
Do you ever bench more than games? Like Blender renders?
1:42 omg Grim Fandango music yessss
3:47 I hear Mystery Dungeon music ^^
I bought one of these from corn in BC, Canada. The shipping charges and time was right. It was advertised as a 650 and I think I got for $35cad total with $15 of that being shipping. Only card I have with a box lol. Kineology or something similar was the brand. Works. Runs wow, Minecraft and rust (kinda).
Well, they at least didn't ruin this one with an inflated VRAM size on the BIOS. Loved the flash reenactment :P.
i got an old gtx 660 kicking around I didnt realize how good those cards are still in 2020!
Only 65W?=The first thing I was thinking, was GT 640 if not less. At 6:31, I really like that you did PC Halo MCC. ;) At 8:58, for SOTTR, it's like what I expect from a 2008 or 2009 video card, actually wondering if LCDs don't take kindly to dropping the resolution to that and are better off with a CRT...
CS:GO is a very CPU biased game so with that set up not surprised on how well it ran! Tops video! Looks like I have many more to watch!
You should check out one of those used mining 1060's with no Io that need modded drivers , they're going for around 35 $ which is actually a great deal assuming you can get it working
Before even watching beyond 2:18, just before you are taking the card apart. It says on the PCB GK107D45B -> GTX650 1GB. Hope I got this right xD
Nice Grim Fandango background music.
OMG HE USED THE OG POKEMON RESCUE TEAM MUSIC !
THAT GAME WAD MY CHILDHOOD MANNNNNNN
Man you are brave ive seen suicide video card that when you turn the system on it fries the mobo. You should atleast pick up a cheap celeron and mobo and check before using in main rig. Good video though i enjoyed it thumbs up.
I hear that The Sims 1 music!!
I've been looking at older GPUI for a while now, and when I saw the silver plastic shroud I already knew that it was a 600-series nVidia.
And I really wish I could find such scams, but haven't had much luck. xD
They are decent Win7-era gaming card and are perfect for retro-WinXP gaming as well.
Funny how that Kepler GPU actually was named correctly on that pcb. GK107 is actually the GPU used on a GTX650...
You can literally see the code for the Kepler architecture "GK" on the PCB LOL
At this point, I'm just worried that Microsoft is going to make Keplers stop working on later builds of Windows 10. :(
0:10 I want that fart joke t-shirt I need it to be in my possession.
I actually have a GTX 650. It was stock in my first "gaming" computer, though already outdated by the time I was given that computer.
This guy's voice is therapeutic.
I love it! the music that is.
Very nice video bro.
Nice vga port !!! 👌👌👌👌 4k will look nice on this
Is there's any way to mod the BIOS for fun?
So say, i have gt 1030 with 2gb of vram. I tweaked the BIOS to 4gb of vram so I can see gpu artifacts for lulz
It'll just crash when it's over 2GB of VRAM Usage. There are some mods. But I don't really dabble with them all too much. I just tend to flash things back to stock.
When it's actually visibly put on the PCB there's a (relatively) ancient GK107 on it 😂
I'm more impressed with the stability more than anything. usually these modified GPU's are unstable and tend to give an unusable experience, yet here, it ran nearly as well as it would have on it's original FW.
Fun fact: I owned a 2GB variant of this GPU. it was decent for lower-mid tier gaming, but not really anything you'd want to do any modern AAA gaming on. still fantastic for indies, Fortnite, Rocket League, Roblox, Source games, emulation, etc . not terrible, but not great.
I kinda figured it could have been a GTX 650 just from the PCB and heatsink cover. looked too familiar.
Try an old toothbrush when cleaning paste from chips. It works wonders and gets between those small caps. :D
love the mystery dungeon music
AYYY, I have a gtx 650 too! Mine has 4 GB of VRAM though
Ive got myself aa 660 back in the day, and i can stil play modern titles, yes fucking around with render scale, yes not in 1080 and yes on low/mid settings, but hey it still runs with a +-60 fps
Those coolers have been around for a while, similar looking ones (heatsink might have been different) were used by KFA2/Galaxy (now Galax = Palit)... but the fakers also used them on other fake cards for years, I think they started with the fake cards in mass production with the "750Ti" which were some low end 200 series.
Hot tip for cleaning the gpu thermal grease, use a toothbrush, you can get disposable ones for dirt cheap and they are esd safe
