You are doing AMAZING! Be sure to hit the timberwolves with the torches to break their morale. Hitting them with rocks works too. A lot of rocks! Once you do, they’ll leave you alone for a bit. If they show up, start a fire and throw. Also, do not carry around carcasses on you, the wolfies and timbies can smell you. Harvest and leave behind to cure. Avoid Mr. Moose. He’s a jerk. You’ll want to find one when you can hunt, but for now, beware! When chaining torches, be sure you are hovering over the torch on the ground or you will use a match anyway. Others have said it, but Blackrock is a terrible spawn region because of the therapy doggos. You can always return when you are more equipped, but initially, slowly making your way out and towards a forge is the way to go. Cheers, fellow Interloper girlie! 🥂 One last tip: with regular wolves, when they engage you, drop your torch and aim a rock at them with your torch on the ground in front of you. They will charge initially, then flee ;-)
At 3:31 for a split second you can see the reason why McKenzie has been mega popular among the wolf population of Blackrock recently. 😁 It's something white, feathery and smelly too. *Pro tip:* If you plan to sneak past wolves you have to leave anything smelly unfortunately, because even a measly cooked steak will still attract wolves from pretty far away, not to mention small animal carcasses, raw meat or guts.
20:48 A better approach of harvesting carcasses is to harvest some meat first to put it cooking immediately, then harvest some more while the meat is cooking.
At 16:43 when you see the lone black wolf down below you in the gorge, and he's making a beeline towards you -- that's because he smells the meat on you. If you hit the "drop decoy" button right there, the wolf would likely immediately turn around.
Timberwolves peeking down into ravine was such a cute touch 😂 Surviving like a pro caveman 💪 If you manage to break timberwovles morale aka get that progress bar all they way down and they run away, they won’t bother you for the next few days. You’ll see them hang around, but they will flee as soon as they notice you. Just be careful not to stumble into a different pack. Blackrock is actually one of the hardest regions to spawn because of how annoying those puppies are. Like the pro gamers say: best thing to do in Blackrock is to leave. Keep it up Maya! 🔥
To explore Blackrock I made myself spawn there and live in it for a long period. After a while the region became very familiar and timberwolves not a threat. I learned a skill to sneak past wolves without triggering them. The only issue for survining in Blackrock is scurvy. To solve that I went fishing in Keepers's Pass South.
@@mayasaurus Aye! Also just an offer. Whenever your ready to engage with the DLC content proper, just let me know! I can provide info as precise or vague as you desire
You seem to be handling those timberwolves like a pro. Don't forget, if you need to warm up in a place like that Prepper's Cache, and you don't want to go back outside to start a fire yet -- you can check the bed warmth bonuses for the bed in the prepper's cache, or your own bedroll's bed warmth bonus. If the bed bonus combined with the "feels like" temperature are above zero, then you should be able to sleep or pass time in the bed -- and get your temperature back up -- even without a fire. Just sleep or pass time in one hour batches if you are nervous about the temperature dropping while you sleep. (Edit: I see that you did end up doing that.)

Oh my god, that makes so much sense! Thank you for the tip!

Ooh, I had no idea they would leave you alone for a few days if you break their morale! That's life changing information, thank you!

@@alexxx4434 that's fair, but then again, you need to make tools first, which is not an option in Blackrock unfortunately 😢

nice video!
More and more people seem to be joining this journey. It's heartwarming to see! ^^
