As the Goodyear ad says, If your tyres save you once a year, it's a Goodyear! And when I was a cabbie, if my tyres save me once a day, it's a good day ;-)
Guy on bike, may have a cramp/ spasm I get them quite often these days, Taxis are not getting any better either, by the looks, you have been back to ye ole Queen Street again I see, Keep up the good work, Moreton
I can only imagine. From what I hear though, taxi owners usually put cheap hard compound tyres on so that they get value for money. After all, taxis always drive slowly and carefully and never drive in the rain :D I think that if I was a taxi owner I'd have the following essentials... 1 - Dashcam front and rear, 2 Bullbar and towbar, 3 - Good tyres and brakes, 4 - A good driver who didn't flog my car and drove safely (good luck finding # 4 LOL)
It depends on what duty their assigned to. Those were not the standard type of bike. Usually they ride bmw bikes which go reasonably fast but are heavy. Here they were riding what looked like trail /road bikes. They tend to use those around the city. I'm guessing so they can easily chase you down laneways, along sidewalks etc where the bmw bike is too large and heavy to flick around.
This was filmed over 2 days. I usually do about 130 Km/day although only about 10 Km of that is in the CBD. The rest is in Fortitude valley, New farm, Spring hill, South brisbane, West end, Milton, Paddington and sometimes a little further. All these incidents were in the CBD. Incidents are less frequent in the suburbs although still do occur. In the suburbs you have to look out around school areas, near supermarkets (hopeless drivers in both)
1 - I'm educated with a good vocabulary :D 2 - I have good self discipline and a patient tolerant nature. This stops me 99.9 % of the time. Every once and a while I lose it, but that's rare.
Queen street is a necessary evil due to the setup of the city and parking areas. I'm not sure about the motorcyclist with the cramp or not. He seemed to be enjoying his bike from what I observed although I lost him up Old northern road towards McDowall due to the hill. The truck slows down big time on hills due to its weight. Either way, he certainly attracted my attention.
Nope.. The sound was the rear skipping I think since I was hard under brakes and had next to no weight. That plus the abs fired. If you listen carefully you can hear the tyres locked up for about a second And yes, It's not that hard to check the mirror and do a shoulder check before pulling out or changing lanes for normal people but taxis seem to think that an indicator gives them right of way. I haven't been down Margarett street for a while. I'll look for some roadworks next time I'm near.
Yep, no surprise from taxis. My poor tyres copped it as well as I locked it up before the abs kicked in with 61 orange cab. Those taxis certainly put extra wear and tear on my vehicle not to mention cause undue stress to me and other motorists. I have good tyres on my vehicle (more expensive but worth it)
We didn't actually crash but it was very very close (like 1 inch). My quick reaction time, good brakes , ABS (it activated) and him swerving at the last second to the left avoided the accident. I think I must have given him a fright. He'll hopefully think twice before chopping lanes without looking. If I would have been in the truck there would have been no hope for him. The truck would have just compacted his car. The car brakes twice as well as the truck. (mind you, 1250 Kg vs 3700 Kg empty)
I know - and yeah, they totally deserved it. Australians in general seem to use their horns less than Americans. I use mine like once a day, but I drive a lot and also encounter a great deal of idiocy on the roads (thank God for dashcams). And honking seems to be more socially acceptable behavior here.
ive been working on Margret St / CBD not with cars but with the stupid pedestrians, its doing my head in that they just don't want to listen & also can't read
lol at first clip, close calls there again by taxis, I'm not surprised. For one moment there, I thought you t-boned that Prius taxi, so close!

I would've guessed it was because you were going to upload it to RUclips later on...

The closet is strong in this one.
A good presence of mind to give way to pedestrian after the near miss with the 642 orange cab.
Lovin' the taxi honking :D
how do you refrain from swearing with drivers like these
That first one is just near my house. Idiots don't surprise me at all anymore.
wow quite alot of madness, I do gotta say alot of the taxis are crazy drivers out there! eek try to stay safe and great captures.
How do you manage to maintain an even strain when dealing with this idiocy?
Brilliant.
I go weeks without using my horn (even though I see stupidity daily). I tend to only use it when its really close or to help avoid an accident.

On the upside, it would make great youtube footage if you have window cam like I do :D
My car is too new to be put through that punishment though.

haha, I've had to do that when i have a sore butt. Then you see him avoiding riding while sitting on his butt :)
They were being complete morons. I rarely use my horn. It was a stinking hot day. Maybe their brain melted.
Biker, Leg Cramps! Been there....That's why he lifts off to one side when stationary
I see so many idiots texting/looking at their phones while driving.
i swear those frecking taxi driver don't know how to use there frecking mirrors, its not hard blinker / mirror & shoulder check
6500 GVM with an tare about 3700
Yep. I know.
On the upside, bad driving goes on in every state and city of the world.
