I don't care what anyone says, this man is already a legend, ring or no ring. When you impact a game at this level where defence schemes are changing just because of you, it's nothing short of legendry. I Always enjoy watching him play, just so entertaining. He and Curry put on a real show at the all-star 2021.

The crazy thing is he’s doing it while shooting an actual jump shot. It’s like he’s shooting a mid range with ease. No extra strain is needed to shoot from that distance. When trey and steph shoot from that range they have to launch it from a set shot. Dame actually is jumping and releasing at his highest point with no extra strain needed to shoot from that far. This may go to show his under rated strength as a guard. He’s only 6’3 at most so to me that’s very impressive.

If you look at Lillard's shot closely and his shooting hand it is something that I've never seen and certainly something never taught to any kid. He actually rolls the ball onto his palm with his fingers not touching the ball, then moves his fingers back on the ball through his shooting motion almost like a catapult. It's unbelievable and, really, not something you could replicate. He's amazing.

He has a very unique way of shooting. It just shows that there is no specific rules to how someone should shoot. Yeah, there are certain things that are essential like having a fluid motion etc and consistency from shot to shot but at the end of the day what works for you works for you. Its about finding a technique that works and then sticking to it.

This seems to swing back and forth a little. Since 2019 when Dame first started his long range bombing. He’s had years where he’s blown stepg away in total makes from 30-34, and even years where he won in terms of percentage. But of course Steph has come back to take the crown at times as well. Tradipnally tho since 2019 Dame has gotten slightly closer to Steph or even better than Steph the deeper and deeper we go away from the hoop. Seems like Steph almost always wins from 29 feet, often wins from 34 feet, but Dame seems to come out on top 35 plus. Stepg doesn’t really seem to actually take 40 footers unless it’s end of shot clock while dame legit acruallt takes 37 foot shots pretty casually and regularly, but this doesn’t mean he’s better by any means as a shooter. Steph is somehow way better!

do some RFD, rate of force development, training for example practice passing including 1 hand push passes with very light object like a balloon, very very light ball, etc. Think of the famous wiffle ball example that is compared to distance can throw a regular baseball and also Bondarchuk's shot put/hammer throwers using different weight shot puts, etc. including light ones. But just for something like basketball don't use the actually shooting with lightened loads (it will mess up the shot and accuracy of shots ie not make the long distance shots even if could improve how far can shoot the shooting percentage will go way down) instead do a more general movement like the chest pass and 1 hand push chest pass that mostly starting from a pause just in front of the body before the pass / throw then work on the maximum distance personal records for that. (This will only work if everything else is already good enough to be able to shoot long distance shots with good form - meaning the basic shooting form looks like it can work well for longer distance shooting, Range of Motion (ROM) of shoulders, etc. is good (able to move shooting arm/elbow all the way up, etc.), absolute strength is good enough, power and explosive exercises are good enough, etc. This works much faster than just taking a lot of shots.

As LaVar Ball pointed out, Mark Jackson, allowed Curry and Klay to shoot these shots in NBA games on a regular basis. There have always been players who could hit these shoots, the coaches considered it to be "Hot Doggin" "Streetball" and "And 1" or "N Ball" but it has always been a part of urban culture. Coach Greg P does not want his players doing it today because most old-school coaches consider it a low percentage shot. The Ball brothers and thousand of kids all over this country have been doing this for over 60 years but I am glad folks like you have decided to highlight this. Pistol Pete, Chris Herron, Kristap Porzingus, Luka Doncic, and Jason "White Chocolate" Williams could shoot like this as well. Isaiah Thomas has a video talking about this. Damien Lillard just has to add more offball movement like a Curry to be more effective as a 3 point shooter. His handles aren’t that dynamic but he doesn’t need great handles to create off the dribble cause of those deep 3s, he can get to the rim easily cause teams have to guard him closer, it’s actually better that way no need for over-dribbling

41% from beyond 30 feet is unreal. I don't think everyone is just going to learn to shoot like that. Most players are under 30% from out there even good shooters. Ut would be fun to see the league with at least one player with that type of range on every team. Imagine if Porzingis could shoot from there. He would be unguardable.
