  • Duncan Robinson began his collegiate career in Division III and made a stop in the G League before breaking out during the Miami Heat's run to the NBA Finals last season. On the way, he became one of the great catch-and-shoot marksmen the league has ever seen. ESPN analyst Kirk Goldsberry explores Robinson's development and his perfect fit in the modern NBA.

Still shaking my head in disbelief that a kid with his fluid 3-point shot, standing 6' 7" could somehow not even get drafted in today's league - AND - not only do the Heat find him, but they also find "undrafted" Kendrick Nunn - in the same freaking draft class! That is a savvy organization and one that knows how to not only find, but how to develop young talent.

Duncan Robinson is one of the amazing results of the three point era. Amazing video and analysis. But this actually heightens how much of a threat Golden State is. If Duncan Robinson feels dangerous when discussed in this video, just imagine how much more terrifying Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are. Plus, those two are on the same team. Can't wait to see Duncan match up against the duo next season.

From first seeing him in last year's finals I knew he would be a marked man from then on. He's too good of a shooter for teams to now be caught unaware of him. 1st year in the league (in Robinson's case his 1st major season), guys can shock teams since there is no gameplay or game footage of that player to prepare for. Even more so when an undrafted guy gets on a team because now you don't even have the draft analysis to go off of. Duncan did that last year. The real work begins for Robinson because now he's a known 3 point assassin.

You can't improve from being poor to being excellent, only to being decent. You just don't have the tools to do it. Improving to being decent on D does not make someone a 3& D.

Unfortunately, teams figured out how Duncan Robinson moves under the screens on the floor, which gives him less room for shots like he was taking in the 2020 Playoffs, but I like how Robinson plays inside more often than he has been before. He's just a solid 2020 average NBA player.

Another undrafted player who grinded for an opportunity, got one, and is having a ball with it. The fact that he's already up there with Steph and Klay as far as 3pt shooting efficiency after breaking out just last year shows his potential.
