I subscribed. I just recently got enamored with rocks and minerals. Overloaded the apartment (under the bed, next to the couch, covering the balcony, and tumbling in my first tumbler. Needless to say, the wife was not having the best time with it.
It is hard to identify many. Although I have learned a lot, and got rid of a lot of more common ones. I still have a lot. I could fill a 40lb tumbler with jasper, chalcedony, and agate alone easily, and maybe a second at the same time.
I need help identifying (and remembering) all of them. The identification buckets were a good idea.
Is it possible to get a big tiger's eye? That was so beautiful.
And side note: I have many colors of moasaic-ish quartzites. Some of them seemed like chalcedony/jasper type, and feel like it on the cleavage points, but the cleavage points (while INCREDIBLY beautiful), have sugary texture, but feel waxy. There are all kinds of colors, all with the same feel. Although I have some quartzite-feeling ones, it is the amazing bands and individual colors permeating through, just under the surface.
The waxy-feeling (though sugary texture), I guess to be of a pyroxene nature? But there is so much to learn. Most is glacial till, i imagine, from west-central indiana.
But there is stuff that amazes me, like this rock that looks like the green of episode or light jade, but there are beautiful (large) streak of red throughout. Both colors feel waxy to the touch. It looks like the outside (and I feel the inside as well, I hope) had a painter just fling a big brush with red and green one time, with thick amounts of paint for each color.

      Wow . . . you really said a lot.
Firstly thank you for subscribing, I appreciate it immensely ☺my wife has given in to my rock obsession, I guess she thinks it's better than me going to the pub or hanging out with with dodgy mates 😆
The rock I showed in the video for Gordon is Tiger Iron (bands of Tiger Eye in layers of Iron) I have quite a lot of that but with thinner bands, I also have a lot of Tiger Eye as well. If you're interested in purchasing some rough rock it's best to email me at - print@westnet.com.au
Identifying rocks is something that can take years and years of experience and even then still leave experts baffled.
That green and red rock you describe sounds a lot like Dragon's Blood or BloodStone, a quick Google search brings up a lot of images that look very similar to your description . . . although, keep in mind what I said before about identifying rocks 😁
Good luck Andrew, have fun and keep collecting 👍

Your WA rhodonite looks different to our Tamworth rhodonite, very interesting.
