- This is the LAST thing you want to happen when fishing.. We head out to go saltwater kayak fishing at the old pier and the jetty. What kind of fish can we catch around this time of year?? I was hoping for a big keeper flounder or something like that.. I did not expect for this to happen..

The drive pins are designed to be the weakest link in your drive to protect the gears I keep a small water proof box in my kayak with a set of tools and extra pins after a few breaks you can repair it in 10 mins and be back fishing

I have same kayak 106 model. I have a cooler and my backpack with gear behind me. Then I put the wheels all the way at the rear when done with a quick bungee to secure it on the water. Everything is right there. And straps are a must when you go over bumpy roads or else it’ll slip right off
I really appreciate seeing all the places I have never been. I have never been up in your neck of the woods. Traveling is not in the cards for me anymore so seeing it thru your eyes is the next best thing. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.

Next time flip you’re wheels over on top of the boat and use your straps and strap them down. Then you don’t have to walk them back and there ready for you when you’re done and put them back under pull your boat back.

that’s exactly what I do on my Outback
The inlet is one of the most challenging places I've ever fished. I've left a lot of money in tackle along those rocks. I even pulled a guy out of the water who drove his Mercedes from the back of the North parking lot, through two fence rails, off the rocks and into the water while fishing from my father-in-laws boat with a couple of friends. The inlet is a crazy place! Got into shad last fall along the south side. Looked like the water was boiling with the shad hitting baitfish. Dropped a few into the rocks, too. They have soft mouths.
I used to fish the Indian river inlet when I went camping in Delaware. We used to catch sharks. My dad caught a 7 foot black tip
You should def have extra pins and extra propeller and the tools to change it on the yak at all times. I think they even sell a screw/bolt to replace the stock one that requires a tool with a floating version that can be changed by hand. Put it all in your hatch and it’s there if needed.

Dude you gotta try a shad dart with that in-line weight. They have really soft mouths so the treble tends to rip out of them. They’re a blast to catch! Especially right there next to the coast guard station.

You can actually keep the kayak wheels on the back of the kayak, just put them in the holes on the top side.

Hey Mike, thanks for taking us flounder fishing around the old Henlopen Fishing Pier. Sorry you did not catch any keeper flounder. (now in know it is not just me and hundreds of other knuckleheads) A word to the wise, you should always have a few "Shear Pins" taped to the underside of your hatch covers or in your tackle box. Been there and done that too. I know it is a long drive for you to get down here to Slower Lower Delaware but I would love to see you video a kayak fishing trip up the Canary Creek in Lewes. One more hack to save you a trip back to your truck after humping your kayak to the water. Strap your beach wheels into your kayak behind your seat. You have plenty of room back there and (God forbid you should ever turn turtle) the extra flotation of those beach wheels makes it easier to right your kayak. WIN WIN! Thanks again for all your videos! There are flounder up that creek too!!!!

Nice video, I was sitting on my truck removing my korkers when you was setting up at IR, the bite was ok for tog at the jetty, fluke on the surfer side. You should try the walls at Henlopen in your kayak, look me up if you want to give it a go.
Shad have really thin mouths so you need to loosen your drag to avoid pulling the hooks out
When you are using spoon type lures try having a short pause while retrieving like 123 pause or 1234 pause you will get alot more hook ups

Those hooks are super small..I'm pretty sure that's why the tarpon are getting off so easily..Im pretty sure you're y have Yo-zuri lures..they work best for me.
Well here in my country Malaysia when ever you go fishing and someone ask you have Catch any fish and you must answered it with "Nah I just arrived moment ago" even though you have been there for hours and KUMPAWW (KUMPAWW= not catch any fish)
Try a bigger cast master. Blue and chrome. Or a smaller magic swimmer all white.

i’ve caught a few shad and bluefish recently in the inlet so probably a shad or bluefish
does the cart not fit on the back of your yak? I do that with my nucanoe flint and some bungie chords. saves you the trip walking it back to the truck🤙🏻
The pin will fix your problem for sure. They are made to break so something else more serious doesn't happen.
