Jocko, this video and other clips of yours got me through an abusive phase of a previous relationship. It let me use the verbally abusive rants as a way to practice my clarity is assessing what was being said to me and have the discipline to take responsibility for what I could and free myself of the rest which wasn’t about me or in my control. Your lessons really kept me going, knowing that through this I was growing and learning while my ex was losing to his ego. Your lessons let me get out with confidence in myself and the knowledge that I can handle difficult situations and take them on. Anyone reading, I would *never* recommend staying in an abusive situation because you think you’re growing though. I could have learned those lessons through adversity that served me, instead of letting my resources be wasted on that looney toon and still having his critical voice in the back of my head years later... Not worth. Anyway, thank you.
    Edit: typo

The more you face stressful situations the more you grow used to it and become desensitized. It almost becomes your partner. I had to learn this in my career early one. Don’t resist and avoid stressful situations....you’ll get used to it.
One thing I never ever understand though is when people say: “if it’s something you can’t control then don’t worry about it” to me that’s when you start worrying about shit is when you can’t control it.

From the fatherless: this is what young men need. Strong role models. The political charge against strong men is an assault on pillars that support communities. My dad abandoned his responsibilities before I could even mumble. He was weak. I will be a STRONG man, my future daughter and son will be alphas. Last semester in law school, thanks for helping me along the way Jocko! 💪🏽

Mr willnik thank you for speaking the truth. For showing some flat out common (or now uncommon) sense. Seems like 2 or 3 near death experiences changed my out look, my attitude to my self and my life, the way I see and deal with others. It was a new perspective, it was looking honestly with in my self, learning some old truths.
    Taking responsibility for my self.
Life is fatal, resistance is futile. So live work give love.
Find your foundation stand firm on it. The rest is pure zero BS.

Uncle Rich Thank you. Well, that can raise a few flags, medically. All you can do is proceed forward and see if you can get medically cleared. Not positive what a 68W is, but either way you're motivated. Keep pushing and try different branches. The colon issue shouldn't hurt your enlistment. You can always deny that you have had any medical issues. Vision may be a different factor, however it is a standard eye test that is given. Never hesitate to ask questions from any recruiter and try different recruiting stations for perspective. Good luck and drive on!

Very easy to say to embrace stress that you can't control. As to detach from it more realistic to do. Step back. Breath, the look up & out see what's going on. Yes definatelt use discipline to stress you can control, I fully agree with you on my second point. Finally, don't worry about you can't control.

America is great due to God’s grace. Part of that grace is the blessing of the American soldier.

Jocko, How do you all deal with narcissists, especially youths age range 17-20 who have no parents/parenting growing up? Thank you.

Like always this is pretty solid information and is definitely something that I overlooked in my younger years of life. Every person ( especially strong men ) needs to understand how to deal with stress and how to counteract the effects of someone trying to attack you mentally and emotionally its a necessary skill in order to be a complete and effective warrior in all aspects of life and service. That being said its one hell of a bitch to master especially if there's no one who is directly guiding you through these "exercises" and "tests" and god damn fucking "quizzes" and shit.

Rob belt Rob im going through a great book right now , Failing forward by John C. Maxwell. It articulates very well how we tie mistakes to our identity rather than evaluating them as opportunities to learn from. Way too many precepts to cover here, get the book. I sincerely hope this helps.

@@bobbyo.8484 good title for the book. I'm in project management and I've always tell my guys that if you're tired and you feel like you need to lean against something, Lean Forward, lean toward the task at hand whereas Jocko would say "the mission"

On the day i feel the weakest. I ran & took a knee, & cried for a moment. I needed this. In many ways than one. Thank you brother. - You mentioned "Allie" - that reminded me of this video from Dr Brooke (Paratrooper) in Philly that did a documentary for 22 a day last year. Marcus's brother made an appearance in this documentary as well. Dr Brooke spoke on War, lost, giving up, Indians, etc. its deep stuff. Thought id share with you & everyone here. i think it needs to be heard. Keep these coming. Love every moment of it. Hooyah vimeo.com/147509752
