Shenzhen is the safest city! I and my wife lived there 8 years and we would love to go back and settle for life. We never cared at all about time of day or night. We could go out late at night, sleep in the taxi (by the way all the taxis and buses are 100% electric), etc - Nobody would bother. Women also there feel absolutely safe!
I am sad to see that you are still not able to make most out of your trip. There is so much to do and see in Shenzhen - beaches, Pingan building (I think it’s 4th or 5th tallest in the world), the Shenzhen light show, Civic Centre, Shekou, Sea World, OH Bay, Windows of the World, China Folk Culture Village, etc etc. You should always connect with some locals to guide you. Or else you end up wasting your time and energy.
I think they seem to come to China to explore public toilets.😅

I don't know but he seems to be always cribbing instead of exploring or trying to find a solution. Also noticed he demeans the locals and the culture.
In 1st n 2nd week of November i visited two biggest cities in china, Chongqing n Shanghai.
Honestly i didn't face any problem using Google apps, maps or translator, which are the must to have in China if you don't know the mandarin.

Very neat and clean
Use Baidu map, and translator it will work without problem and VPN. I lived in Shanghai for 6 years never faced issues. Use English to Chinese translation where you want to go and paste it on Baidu map.
14:20 there are more than 600+ cities in china with an urban rate of 67% in the country with a 5 tier system city ranking. U can see almost every cities with tall buildings and skyscappers.
60-70 cities have metro network. So you can say around 70 world class cities.

1. Socialism- Due to lack of free market and socialistic policies and thinking , indian industries could not grow. China adopted capitalistic policies in 70s now they are 2nd largest economy. We did in 90s and didn't do it fully. Kisan bill was also a step in industrial agriculture, thanks to our illiterate farmers we failed
2. Too much democracy - more the government less will be governance. Our constitution is giving power to too many people from center to state ro municipality to panchayat, and huge bureaucracy, which make the system bigger and harder to function.

About the maps - There is a whole story to it related to country’s security strategy. Apple Maps work there because they pull the data from local maps. 😉 There are some videos about it. It’s quite smart of the Chinese to do so. Briefly to tell - the map data shown on Google maps to foreigners is deliberately skewed to avoid other countries peeking into China. Local maps work fine and Apple takes data from them.
Local maps even show the lane you are driving, and the real time traffic signals across the road.

Shenzhen is a booming Chinese city with a mix of modern skyscrapers and theme parks. It's a fast-paced and exciting place.❤

Bing maps and apps including MS translate doesn't need any VPN and works well with China mobile.
Some MS apps also need it now but Apple apps work fine.

Bahi, for navigation, Chinese use another map, not Google Maps. Try to use the Chinese one "Baidu" is a Chinese equal to Google Maps. Love from Afghanistan.

结果按地图过去两家都扑空了，问旁边的店家，人家说搬走好几个月了。
后来我仔细看了下，很多都是标错了的，还有离谱到把联通营业厅标注在河中间的。

Thing is Japan doesnt has its servers isolated from the word and guarded like a wall

Passport data stays with the government, so how is it a concern? What do you mean by "everywhere"? Passports are only scanned on services provided by the government, like trains, zoo, national monuments, public attractions (not all). The moment you step in a country, you have to get your passport scanned. It stays with the government.
