Just came across this channel. Around 9 years ago I swopped a Leica lens for an x-t1 and I'm still using it today. They're an excellent, reliable little camera that does everything I want and has never let me down. Some great shots of Venice showing what this little gem of a camera is capable of, and just subscribed. As I always say, 95% of a good image is being there and seeing the potential and the other 5% is the gear. From your accent I think you may be from the same little island as I am, but further north maybe? Enjoyed the video and will check out some more.
I totally agree about the fact that it’s 95% opportunity. I started this channel with exactly that mantra. Too many RUclips channels promoting the next best thing. I’d rather spend the money getting myself somewhere interesting. Ed
Great review, love the pictures, this is one of my favourite places in the world, when it’s not too busy. As a full time pro photographer for 30+ years, to capture any moment in time is priceless. 📸
I loved the X-T1 and wish I hadn't sold it. I actually had it at the same time that I had the X-H1 and the X-T30 and I found myself using the X-T1 most often. Great camera.
Hey, congratulations on your A350 designation. Enjoy the new destinations. Really enjoyed and appreciate the vid, even the seemingly simple 5:58 shot. On a canal note, I just learned (or maybe was reminded) that Amsterdam has more canals than Venice. I think it's calling to the X-T1......LOL
Former X-T4 owner, former X-T30 owner, current X-Pro 1 owner... Been thinking of getting an X-T1.. I'm just looking for cameras with a "special something" inside. A sensor unlike most others. I think the X-T1 might be it..
It’s a really old school organic sensor. Also consider the X-T10. Much the same but not weather sealed and a different dial interface. The if you’ve been used to 35mm cameras then the X-T1 just feels right in the hand. Ed
I have both the X-T1 and X-H1. The addition of IBIS and Eterna in the H1 make it superior along with the sensor. BUT the T1 is the one that I bring along because of the form factor and the X Trans 2 sensor is the ‘sweet spot’ for me. Ed
Ed…My new TTArtisan lens landed this morning. Popped it on my recently purchased X-T1 (described as excellent condition when purchased from MPB)……Taking a punt on a 2nd hand camera does come with some risk, especially when the camera is 10 years old! To my utter amazement, I uploaded a JPEG to validate the shutter count……UNBELIEVABLE….a mere “895” shutter activations!! It’s like a new camera for £359 (body only)….what a result! That’s got to be one of the best purchases I’ve ever made🎉🥳
I hope that’s the original shutter count. I believe that shutter count on EXIF was a firmware update but there’s no real way of telling. When the internal battery dies, and the regular battery is empty, the shutter count resets. In the newer cameras this isn’t the case as it’s written to an eprom. Either way if it’s in good condition I’d suspect that it has been well looked after. So often people chase the latest cameras so it could very well be the case. Have you updated the firmware yet? 👍
@@MyContrails As you say, it’s possible that the shutter count could have been re-set however, the condition of the camera is that good, it may well be correct…time will tell! As for the firmware update, no I haven’t. I know this is recommended but do you know of any good reason not to do so?
@@MyContrails Hi Ed. Yes, checked my camera’s firmware info and it shows the latest update (5.52) has already been installed. Not sure if that update is the one to which you refer, but even so; as the latest update was Sept 2020, that would still only be 895 actuations over the last 3.5 years!
Brilliant Mate really enjoyed that the b&W was excellent the video was nice I tweak my simulations to my liking The XT1 is a great camera still not got to Venice though.......
Nice video Ed - Subscribed! Having watched several videos on the subject of the Fuji X-T1, I have taken the plunge and purchased one for myself! I spotted a used X-T1 on the MPB website, listed at £359 described as “excellent condition” (cosmetic!). I also purchased a half leather case and a battery grip at the same time for a few quid more! To be honest, I was a little nervous since the item description did not detail the “shutter count”! MPB offer a no quibble 14 day return so I thought it was worth taking a punt! I’m hoping that the condition of the camera is indicative of little use and a low shutter count!! As a current Canon camera owner, I didn’t have any Fuji compatible lenses however, I decided to put in an offer on a TTArtisan 24mm f1.4 lens, which I secured at £92.50 (near mint condition). This should arrive tomorrow or Saturday, after which I’m hoping I can take some shots and try and obtain the shutter count to evaluate wear and tear / longevity etc. First impressions are it’s a funky stylish retro looking camera. Very comfortable in the hand….certainly a lot smaller than my Canon 40D! Just to add, what a “combo / fab lifestyle”……pilot, photographer armed with an X-T1……..not jealous🤢😂
Thank you. You’ll have a blast with it just like I have. It has that lovely old school feel to it and the image is all you’ll ever need. JPEG and the internal RAW conversations to other simulations are just amazing. Ed
Great video and great camera . I've been out earlier taking street photography with my XT1 which I will probably put up on my instagram . I've not used mine one for video but looking at your video I quite liked the old school quality of the footage if I'm honest . Maybe not for client work, but for personal projects it looks fine . Gonna subscribe to see what else you ut up on your travels
Absolutely Love my XT-1 Especially Really rich Beautiful Colour Interior & Still Life Photography & Gorgeous Monochrome as well...!!!!!! Amazingly flexible JPeg Engine for a huge range of Beautifully Tasteful looks so long as you want everything to look like 35mm film...!!!!! Although for true to life nature the Nikon D600 wins but for fine art nature photography its def a tie.....But Especially with the battery grip the XT-1 is such a lovely camera...!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Thank you. I’m no great photographer but I love the process. It’s also great to have something to do whilst I’m away with work. Ed
I really like my X-T1. It does a great job. Your photos are wonderful.
Thank you.
Very nice video, well done. I have a Panasonic tz200, it is a really good camera, but after watching your video, I’m rather intrigued by the x-t1 😊
I loved the X-T1 and wish I hadn't sold it. I actually had it at the same time that I had the X-H1 and the X-T30 and I found myself using the X-T1 most often. Great camera.
Most fun for me are the X-T1 and X-E1 so far. Ed
So you would choose xt1 over the xh1? Just curious I want one for fun for my vintage lenses primarily.
Loved the shots, and beautiful tones.

I love the older Fuji cameras! I have an XE-2 and XT-2 and love them both. They are great cameras that take great photos.
I’ve an X-E1 and an X-T2. I love the small form factor of the X-E series. Ed

I was sold on the xh1. I am a Sony shooter I just wanted to use it for my Takumars but now I think this better. This is beautiful work.

I liked, "The Grand Union Canal best', Market Harborough looked very romantic. Thanks for your video.
Just subscribed. Great content
A great camera for sure. Like to use my XT-1 with the XF 35mm f1.4 and even the XF 23/35mm F2. Great for holiday combo.
Love the B & W scenes! Very resonant of the best low ISO film stock.
I’ll have to share my recipe tweaks. Ed
What a nice and relaxed video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Ed

It’s the first thing I do. More for lens compatibility than anything else.

Really like the b&W, What film sim did you use please
Fuji X Weekly do a great b&w sim for the X trans 2 sensor
Super tour and lovely shots. The B&W's are amazing... What film sim did you use for the video?
I believe it was Velvia. Although I’ve tweaked it slightly. I’ll do a video on my recipes in due course.
@@MyContrailsThanks, that would be really helpful. I'm trying to find the vintage sweet spot on my XM1
I’ve one of those as well and love it. 😜
What Film simulation are you using on your color photos? Btw, I still have my X-t1 and blown away every time I take it with me
I mostly use Velvia for colour and B+W with the red filter for the monochrome. Ed
Enjoyed the video and the photos, hate the T-shirt 🤣🤣🤣
Lucky for me it’s not a fashion channel. 😜
@@MyContrails 🤣🤣🤣
Is the video actually shot with the X-T1?
Everything you see in this video including the intro is on the X-T1. Some post processing in DaVinci Resolve. Ed
Remove the black bars from the top and bottom.
Sorry that they offended you. I was just going for that classic cinema look. Ed
If you’re laying contrails, maybe ease up on the gassy foods.
I like the picture at 2:30 the best, getting rid of the colors makes the atmosphere more dramatic.
