I have a family member who thinks he speaks in tongues. He is extremely carnal, biblically unsound, yet God "tells him things" and he has the "gift of tongues" so naturally he thinks he is way more spiritual than anyone else. You can't tell him anything if it goes against his experience. Thing is, there are people in new age religions who "speak in tongues" and it looks a lot like a lot the professing Christians who speak in tongues. Sometimes I wonder if they have received another spirit, because like my family member, they are very unclear on the gospel.

She said that is all she wanted me to do for her on mother's day. So I thought, this gift is within my budget. LOL Anyway, when the preacher ask if there were any first timers, I did not raise my hand. My mom gave me that motherly elbow poke on my arm and whispered, "raise your hand". So I did. The ushers came down and gave me a blue folder with a cassette tape and some other gospel tracks. I took it home and was excited that I had a new cassette to record my favorite songs on. Just put tape over the hole and you were able to record over it. (the good old days of cassette tape) I put it in the closet and forgot about it. About a year later I was cleaning my closet and found that tape that I had forgotten about. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what was on it before I recorded over it. The tape was titled, "How Permanent Is Your Salvation" by Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I got saved before the tape finished. I finally knew that I was going to Heaven when I die. That was very exciting. Calvary Community Church has had the only preachers that teach the clear Gospel in Tampa Fl. that I know of. Form Dr. Lindstrom, to Yankee, and now Pastor Jesse Martinez. They have all been a blessing to me. Now what's very exciting is to know I might be in the crowd that won't even experience death. I am not a time setter. Notice how I said, "might be". I will be raptured if I am still living at the time of the rapture. I believe now we are very close. Amen

Forget the Kenneth Copeland factor for a moment. 1 Cor 12:28 says diversities, as in more than one kind of tongues. And 1 Cor 14:2 and 4 say there is a tongue whereby which we speak to God and speak mysteries and edify ourselves. Are you going to speak to God a mystery He doesnt know? Of course not. it is for our own benefit. And there is a tongue for a public interpretation if there is an interpreter present (one having the gift thereof) and there is a tongue of another earthly language the speaker doesn't know in and of himself.

I received a heavenly language after having hands laid on me- one week later while alone in my office I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to pray- I began humming and received a supernatural language. No one will ever tell me that didn’t happen or I made it up. One of the words I say is “Isa.” I had no idea what Isa meant at the time, but I have since learned it means Jesus in Turkish/Arabic. My language also changes based upon who/what I’m praying for. It was a beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit. The Bible talks of tongues that are actual languages, prophetic tongues that need an interpretation to edify the church- AND a private prayer language.

Jesse, this video has me concerned. About 2 months ago when i got saved i asked The Holy Spirit if he was able to speak in tongues through me. I felt my heart begin to race and I felt like i may have spoken in tongues after that. When I asked The Holy Spirit, it was in my head. Not out loud. Was it real or was I just being an idiot?

Maybe you could do video about the Roman Catholic Church? I've been a believer for many years, but having moved several times in the past few years, I haven't been attending church. So I've been looking for a church that is Bible centered and follows the truth of the Gospel, and it's confusing. I'm nominally a Southern Baptist, but I've also been in Presbyterian, Lutheran, and independent churches, but even the Baptists seem to be slipping into some sketchy doctrines, as are most churches. Anyway, even though I am not a fan of the RCC, I've been listening to some of them, and they have some arguments, mostly drawing on historical authority, that are hard to refute as a layman. Anyway, I hope you will consider it. There seems to be a lot of people that are moving from protestant to catholic, or orthodox, and vice versa. So there is a need for clarity out there. Either way, thank you for this video. I wouldn't trust someone like Copeland as far as I could throw one of his private jets, but it's good to see knowledgeable believers showing him for what he is. 🙏✝️👑✝️🙏

In Matthew 7:1-5 when it warns us not to look at the speck in your brothers eye and the same standard you put on others will also be used against you. If you have done something like that before you heard the true gospel of grace can you still be saved by trusting in Christ alone? even if you still struggle with the sin that you judged someone for? Do I now have to do something else besides believing?
One more comment about something I noticed. The first clip you showed where he went from talking about Canada and then de-evolved into that gibberish was, I believe, because he had fumbled up what he was saying in the "Canada" sentence, lost his train of thought, and decided he'd try to recover by inserting a bunch of babbling to fill in the awkward gap of his initial misspeaking. People are dumb enough to buy it, too.

Or he calls it, post-trib pre-wrath. I believe in pre-trib. Ono is so super clear on the gospel and spot on with his interpretations and was just wondering how he got this one wrong. @@cliffbailey6474 1Cor. 14:2 is perhaps *the* quintessential verse used by many to “evidence” modern tongues-speech in the Bible. The whole passage is talking about real, rational language. Let me use an analogy - If I attend a worship service in “East Haystack”, some remote town in the US out in the middle of nowhere, two things are going to be evident: one; there’s only going to be so many people at that service (i.e. there will be a finite given amount of people there) and two; the chances that anyone speaks anything *but* English is pretty slim to nil. If I start praying aloud in say Lithuanian, there’s no one at that service that’s going to understand a single word I’m saying. Even though I’m speaking a real language, no one _there_ will understand my “tongue”. That does not mean or imply that no one else understands Lithuanian; just no one at _that particular service._ In this sense, therefore, I am speaking _only to God,_ since he understands all languages. To everyone at the service, even though I’m praying in the Spirit (as defined in my original post), to the people listening to me, I’m still speaking “mysteries” - i.e. even though I’m praying as I ought, no one understands me; no one has a clue what I’m saying as no one speaks my language. When one looks at the original Greek, the verb which is usually translated as “understandeth/understands” is actually the verb “to hear” in the sense of understanding what you’re hearing someone say. The verb is *not* “to understand”. That part of the verse is more properly “no one hears [him] with understanding”, i.e. no one listening to him understands what he’s saying. There is _nothing_ in this passage that suggests modern tongues-speech nor is there anything that even _remotely_ suggests that the speaker does not understand what he himself is saying. The Greek bears this out; it is the _listeners_ who do not understand, *not* the speaker - no matter how hard modern tongues-speakers want the speaker to also not understand…….unless the author of the text is a bad grammarian, it just isn’t there.

At the start there, Copeland sounded like he was just saying something in a Native American language. Considering that very few people speak and understand much of those ancient languages -- it would be an easy way to sound like you were "speaking in tongues" without just sounding like you were babbling. I don't see how this man has so many people that follow his teachings. The New Testament has nothing good to say about false teachings and doctrine. He reminds me of the Armstrongs. If you are following him and his teachings, you should study the Bible, and examine what he says, and measure it against the scriptures. 🙏✝️👑✝️🙏
It actually sounds like a Native American tongue which is ironic as Native Americans are pagans. Copeland undoubtedly would have been exposed to these sounds growing up in 1930s Texas not to mention Hollywood Westerns. I’ve never bought into the modern day speaking of tongues but it was always my understanding that tongues aren’t established languages here on earth; they’re just a spontaneous, fluid “expression” that were understood by the apostles & disciples? I always likened it to the metaphor of a group of hippies on mushrooms or peyote who are kind of jibing with each other telepathically through music or drum beats. There’s a theory (after experimentation) that the ancient people at Stone Henge had drum circles there and the stones were arranged in such a way that the echoes & reverberations altered the brain waves, putting the participants in a trance. I do believe something was happening in the New Testament but I don’t believe it’s anything that anyone can recreate at their own will. My interpretation has always been that it was a unique, divine experience at the time. That said, I don’t discount that such events could happen again in modern times, I just think they’d be extremely rare. I do believe 99.9% of speaking in tongues today is artificial. -Which then leads me to believe that Satan is present because of the deception factor. -But I also believe Satan is present in every church to one degree or another for different reasons. Churches are made up of people who are all born in sin so I don’t single out Pentecostals & charismatics as being the only people who are flawed. This topic has always fascinated me.
We believe tongues are literal spoken languages (regardless of the speaker’s understanding; the hearer was expected to understand his native tongue) because of Acts 2. There are 31000 languages in this world. Are you able to recognise or identify them? Kenneth is PRAYING in the Spirit and interpreting. He is depending upon God for help. 1 Corinthians 14;14-15. We are to pray in the Spirit without ceasing 1Thessalonians 5:17. Kenneth was not giving a message to a group in tongues, which requires an interpretation. A message in tongues accompanied with an interpretation is equivalent to a prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14:5. 1 Corinthians 14:1-2 , No man understands the prayer tongue. It is permissible to ask the Holy Spirit for an interpretation , which Kenneth Copeland was doing. Christians are to walk by faith, not by sight; not by our natural senses.
All true, but you attacked a straw man. Most charismatics don't argue about the tongues of Pentacost being real languages. They hang on to 1 Cor 14:2 as their proof text. That's the one you have to address. "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries."

Hey Todd. That’s a small part of our ministry. Those videos are the most popular because they do carry the big names. It isn’t about whether we “like them” or not, but it’s the doctrines we refute. The scripture is clearly against works for salvation, loss of salvation and works being proof of salvation. Those teachers teach one or multiple of those doctrines, and we try to point that out. Many of them are Calvinist/Reformed, so we point that out also. We pray before recording sessions for the salvation and/or doctrinal correction for these men. I have a family member who thinks he speaks in tongues. He is extremely carnal, biblically unsound, yet God "tells him things" and he has the "gift of tongues" so naturally he thinks he is way more spiritual than anyone else. You can't tell him anything if it goes against his experience. Thing is, there are people in new age religions who "speak in tongues" and it looks a lot like a lot the professing Christians who speak in tongues. Sometimes I wonder if they have received another spirit, because like my family member, they are very unclear on the gospel.

She said that is all she wanted me to do for her on mother's day. So I thought, this gift is within my budget. LOL Anyway, when the preacher ask if there were any first timers, I did not raise my hand. My mom gave me that motherly elbow poke on my arm and whispered, "raise your hand". So I did. The ushers came down and gave me a blue folder with a cassette tape and some other gospel tracks. I took it home and was excited that I had a new cassette to record my favorite songs on. Just put tape over the hole and you were able to record over it. (the good old days of cassette tape) I put it in the closet and forgot about it. About a year later I was cleaning my closet and found that tape that I had forgotten about. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what was on it before I recorded over it. The tape was titled, "How Permanent Is Your Salvation" by Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I got saved before the tape finished. I finally knew that I was going to Heaven when I die. That was very exciting. Calvary Community Church has had the only preachers that teach the clear Gospel in Tampa Fl. that I know of. Form Dr. Lindstrom, to Yankee, and now Pastor Jesse Martinez. They have all been a blessing to me. Now what's very exciting is to know I might be in the crowd that won't even experience death. I am not a time setter. Notice how I said, "might be". I will be raptured if I am still living at the time of the rapture. I believe now we are very close. Amen

Forget the Kenneth Copeland factor for a moment. 1 Cor 12:28 says diversities, as in more than one kind of tongues. And 1 Cor 14:2 and 4 say there is a tongue whereby which we speak to God and speak mysteries and edify ourselves. Are you going to speak to God a mystery He doesnt know? Of course not. it is for our own benefit. And there is a tongue for a public interpretation if there is an interpreter present (one having the gift thereof) and there is a tongue of another earthly language the speaker doesn't know in and of himself.
Absolutely. I received a heavenly language after having hands laid on me- one week later while alone in my office I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to pray- I began humming and received a supernatural language. No one will ever tell me that didn’t happen or I made it up. One of the words I say is “Isa.” I had no idea what Isa meant at the time, but I have since learned it means Jesus in Turkish/Arabic. My language also changes based upon who/what I’m praying for. It was a beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit. The Bible talks of tongues that are actual languages, prophetic tongues that need an interpretation to edify the church- AND a private prayer language.

Jesse, this video has me concerned. About 2 months ago when i got saved i asked The Holy Spirit if he was able to speak in tongues through me.
I felt my heart begin to race and I felt like i may have spoken in tongues after that. When I asked The Holy Spirit, it was in my head. Not out loud. Was it real or was I just being an idiot?

Maybe you could do video about the Roman Catholic Church? I've been a believer for many years, but having moved several times in the past few years, I haven't been attending church. So I've been looking for a church that is Bible centered and follows the truth of the Gospel, and it's confusing. I'm nominally a Southern Baptist, but I've also been in Presbyterian, Lutheran, and independent churches, but even the Baptists seem to be slipping into some sketchy doctrines, as are most churches. Anyway, even though I am not a fan of the RCC, I've been listening to some of them, and they have some arguments, mostly drawing on historical authority, that are hard to refute as a layman.
Anyway, I hope you will consider it. There seems to be a lot of people that are moving from protestant to catholic, or orthodox, and vice versa. So there is a need for clarity out there. Either way, thank you for this video. I wouldn't trust someone like Copeland as far as I could throw one of his private jets, but it's good to see knowledgeable believers showing him for what he is.

In Matthew 7:1-5 when it warns us not to look at the speck in your brothers eye and the same standard you put on others will also be used against you. If you have done something like that before you heard the true gospel of grace can you still be saved by trusting in Christ alone? even if you still struggle with the sin that you judged someone for? One more comment about something I noticed. The first clip you showed where he went from talking about Canada and then de-evolved into that gibberish was, I believe, because he had fumbled up what he was saying in the "Canada" sentence, lost his train of thought, and decided he'd try to recover by inserting a bunch of babbling to fill in the awkward gap of his initial misspeaking.

Hey Trent. I was wondering if Jesse could do another video on why the pre-trib rapture is correct. I love Onorato Diamante's videos however he believes in post-trib rapture. Or he calls it, post-trib pre-wrath. I believe in pre-trib. Ono is so super clear on the gospel and spot on with his interpretations and was just wondering how he got this one wrong. This is not a salvation issue. However, if you read the comments in the video, it seems like it is causing division between the brethren. 1Cor. 14:2 is perhaps *the* quintessential verse used by many to “evidence” modern tongues-speech in the Bible.
The whole passage is talking about real, rational language.
Let me use an analogy - If I attend a worship service in “East Haystack”, some remote town in the US out in the middle of nowhere, two things are going to be evident: one; there’s only going to be so many people at that service (i.e. there will be a finite given amount of people there) and two; the chances that anyone speaks anything *but* English is pretty slim to nil.
If I start praying aloud in say Lithuanian, there’s no one at that service that’s going to understand a single word I’m saying. Even though I’m speaking a real language, no one _there_ will understand my “tongue”. That does not mean or imply that no one else understands Lithuanian; just no one at _that particular service._
In this sense, therefore, I am speaking _only to God,_ since he understands all languages. To everyone at the service, even though I’m praying in the Spirit (as defined in my original post), to the people listening to me, I’m still speaking “mysteries” - i.e. even though I’m praying as I ought, no one understands me; no one has a clue what I’m saying as no one speaks my language.
When one looks at the original Greek, the verb which is usually translated as “understandeth/understands” is actually the verb “to hear” in the sense of understanding what you’re hearing someone say. The verb is *not* “to understand”. That part of the verse is more properly “no one hears [him] with understanding”, i.e. no one listening to him understands what he’s saying.
There is _nothing_ in this passage that suggests modern tongues-speech nor is there anything that even _remotely_ suggests that the speaker does not understand what he himself is saying. The Greek bears this out; it is the _listeners_ who do not understand, *not* the speaker - no matter how hard modern tongues-speakers want the speaker to also not understand…….unless the author of the text is a bad grammarian, it just isn’t there.

At the start there, Copeland sounded like he was just saying something in a Native American language. Considering that very few people speak and understand much of those ancient languages -- it would be an easy way to sound like you were "speaking in tongues" without just sounding like you were babbling.
I don't see how this man has so many people that follow his teachings. The New Testament has nothing good to say about false teachings and doctrine.

I always likened it to the metaphor of a group of hippies on mushrooms or peyote who are kind of jibing with each other telepathically through music or drum beats.
There’s a theory (after experimentation) that the ancient people at Stone Henge had drum circles there and the stones were arranged in such a way that the echoes & reverberations altered the brain waves, putting the participants in a trance.
I do believe something was happening in the New Testament but I don’t believe it’s anything that anyone can recreate at their own will. My interpretation has always been that it was a unique, divine experience at the time.
That said, I don’t discount that such events could happen again in modern times, I just think they’d be extremely rare.
I do believe 99.9% of speaking in tongues today is artificial.
-Which then leads me to believe that Satan is present because of the deception factor.
-But I also believe Satan is present in every church to one degree or another for different reasons. Churches are made up of people who are all born in sin so I don’t single out Pentecostals & charismatics as being the only people who are flawed.
This topic has always fascinated me.
We believe tongues are literal spoken languages (regardless of the speaker’s understanding; the hearer was expected to understand his native tongue) because of Acts 2. The audience all heard it in their own language.
Ultimately the purpose of tongues was to reach more souls with the gospel.

There are 31000 languages in this world. Are you able to recognise or identify them? Kenneth is PRAYING in the Spirit and interpreting. He is depending upon God for help. 1 Corinthians 14;14-15. We are to pray in the Spirit without ceasing 1Thessalonians 5:17. Kenneth was not giving a message to a group in tongues, which requires an interpretation. A message in tongues accompanied with an interpretation is equivalent to a prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14:5.
1 Corinthians 14:1-2 , No man understands the prayer tongue. It is permissible to ask the Holy Spirit for an interpretation , which Kenneth Copeland was doing. Christians are to walk by faith, not by sight; not by our natural senses.

All true, but you attacked a straw man. Most charismatics don't argue about the tongues of Pentacost being real languages. They hang on to 1 Cor 14:2 as their proof text. That's the one you have to address.

Low hanging fruit too easy to rip this apart. I get a little angry that people are sitting under the sermons of this dude. My dear mother would have been a little more straight forward about people putting themselves in these situations but I’m a softy.
So … it seems as if this channel is just all about critiquing everyone else. I’ve seen videos against Greg Laurie, Kenneth Copeland, John Piper, and Paul Washer. So who do you like? Or are you just about complaining about everyone else?
Hey Todd. That’s a small part of our ministry. Those videos are the most popular because they do carry the big names.
It isn’t about whether we “like them” or not, but it’s the doctrines we refute. The scripture is clearly against works for salvation, loss of salvation and works being proof of salvation. Those teachers teach one or multiple of those doctrines, and we try to point that out. Many of them are Calvinist/Reformed, so we point that out also.
We pray before recording sessions for the salvation and/or doctrinal correction for these men.
We actually desire more people to watch our sermons in the “Live” section. More standard biblical teaching can be found there.
