We have our illustrious dear orange leader, "Here ye here ye! Step right up and get your Chinese flu cures. Ah little lady, how 'bout some fish tank cleaner? Or perhaps 10cc's of bleach? Maybe a UV light bulb. Whatta ya have?" *sigh*
Yep, much more advanced advice from Trump, inject disinfectant. Medical knowledge has progressed but your leaders are still as thick as two short planks.
In March when COVID-19 "spikes" the first thing the Feds did is , "confiscate " the disposable Mask and gloves from where I worked😡 I'm an essential worker and got all the Symptoms and at the 5th day having difficulty breathing . I continued to work waiting for my Dr's appointment , after work I am coughing none stop to the point will have chest pain😂. I got to my appointment and my Dr. Told me I have pneumonia 😂 she prescribe 4 days of Antibiotic and I recovered, after that appointment I have learned to make my own mask while waiting for the mask I've ordered on line that took almost 2 months😂😂😂 I'm still "Mad" at the Feds when they say" we confiscated the essential mask and gloves for us Federal people😡 I thank my Dr.'s decision ❤️ I've tested 2 for COVID and the result is negative 🙏 I'm old still working and very afraid about this Pandemic 💔 there's about 13,000+ victims in the county were we live💔 take care everybody ✌️❤️

@@joemartin1253 the current virus is tempered somewhat by our rapid global communication, better education, coordinated efforts, and improved medical care. However, while it may not be pound for pound as deadly as the 1918 flu, if left to its own devices, it would be so much deadlier than it is now. And we are still in the midst of it not knowing where it might end up. It could very well be we are simply plugging up holes in a dam with our fingers, and if we're not careful, we will run out of fingers.
Interesting what he says at 17:30 about cities that closed bars did not have a better death rate than cities that left them open. Still safer to drink at home in my opinion. Take care everyone.
No he said that Philadelphia didn't do any better closing things down by the time they did than other cities who didn't close at all. Cities that implemented measures early on faired much better. Listen to all he says not just the snippet that confirms a bias
So many parallels with COVID 19. Yet currently the infection and mortality rates are much lower. Let us hope this will continue as we all move out of quarantine. It is impossible to remain in lockdown permanently. This would be even worse. It seems we must now learn to modify our lives and live ( or die) with the virus. It is impossible to eradicate it.
At 24:30, he mentions that each previous flu strain beats out the other. Until we have a fresh flu strain, where it has an open playing field because it's new. :O That's where we are now.
The world watched Wuhan burn, then Italy, Spain, and watched some more. Trump banned flights in and out of China and caught flack. At least he did SOMETHING. Canada is a farce. Our health minister first says dont wear masks, they dont help. The CDC says everyone must wear a mask, even a homemade one. Now Canada has changed its tune. Masks DO HELP NOW. You can tell these people weren't put on these jobs due to their stellar resumes. Trudeau must have half the government women " because its 2015"
@@susanauger3758 Those cheap dust, surgical and homemade masks won't stop the virus; at the least an N-95 mask is necessary. But it will keep droplets and spray out of the environment so it's kind of a "6 of one/half a dozen of the other" helpmeets.
With over 3000 souls a day dying what historians will say is that virtually no one has learned anything or willing to follow scientific advice on how to mitigate this terrible disease!!!
If it wasn’t for the Spanish Flu, my great grandparents wouldn’t have married. I wonder how much this outbreak or our current one has impacted so many lives. 🤔
Hello to the awesome Prof. I was listening to the death toll in your lecture but didn't hear of any African countries or cities being mentioned. There are some articles that talk about West Africa and South Africa having the flu too and with casualties as well. I would love to hear the stories of the African tribes or early cities and how they responded as well since none of this is documented in detail in books in our libraries today. I think it would be interesting to hear it from a real scholar like you if there is actually good information on this subject. Thanks
You don't hear about it cuz it's a story like Santa Claus where only where children are that told the story is it real for. And plandemics only exist where evil modern men control the minds. You'll never find modern diseases in nature where man hasn't tampered with it

Read THE SIXTH EXTINCTION . We are, indeed in front of the eight ball.

I feel like I’m at the best college lecture. I wish my professors taught like this
"Lard and turpentine." Wow. Makes me so glad that we have the medical advances we have today.
Judy DeAngelo
"Bleeding" is the one that doesn't sound fun at all. Heroin, morphine, chloroform...they knew how to have fun back then.
At least we don't have those snake oil salesmen today. We have our illustrious dear orange leader, "Here ye here ye! Step right up and get your Chinese flu cures. Ah little lady, how 'bout some fish tank cleaner? Or perhaps 10cc's of bleach? Maybe a UV light bulb. Whatta ya have?"
*sigh*
Yep, much more advanced advice from Trump, inject disinfectant. Medical knowledge has progressed but your leaders are still as thick as two short planks.
Can anyone recommend a good book on daily life during the flu pandemic? For a school project. Thanks
Soon as I heard the turpentine reference I immediately thought about Donald Trump‘s suggestion of injecting bleach.
A extremely tough reality we all all dealing with in this 2020.
You won't make it.
Whatts RU a psychopath?
24:07 "Only one type of flu can exist in the population at any one time."
What am I missing here? Aren't the cold, the regular flu, and Covid-19 all types of coronavirus? But there are worries about people contracting *both* the flu and Covid this winter, and how awful that would be.
Clearly I'm not an epidemiologist...just a confused citizen.
The presenter Bruse fleury died January 2020 at age 69 of a heart attack a few months before the Covid-19 pandemic. If only he had lived one more year!
Great tie
Imagine having a leader not willing to prepare and help their people 😂😂😂 I bet "nothing" like that would happen in 2020...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
omg history is repeating itself WOW
The Coronavirus is nowhere near the Spanish Flu.
Joe Martin - true enough, but the human behavior and response doesnt seem to be much different.
@@joemartin1253 It would be without intervention..
Time and scenery change but people seldom do. He could be talking about today.
This guy looks like alf Garnett with hair
At 24:30, he mentions that each previous flu strain beats out the other. Until we have a fresh flu strain, where it has an open playing field because it's new. :O That's where we are now.
What will historians say about the U.S and COVID 20 years from now
The world watched Wuhan burn, then Italy, Spain, and watched some more.
Should be against all law and rules to dismantle our US pandemic dept.
Yet Trump did so. He defunded our pandemic response unit
Great content and the Robot was almost life like, could use some oil.
alarming contrasts to our current pandemic! thank you

Im writing a book on spainish flu can use some of your explanations in my book
I'm pretty sure he's using John M Barry's book. The quotes are exactly the same.
I like your tie!
You'll never find modern diseases in nature where man hasn't tampered with it
This man is a spitting image of my late brother in the way he holds himself (especially his head and neck) and in the way he turns and walks. Very stiff and with little flexibility. Hard to keep my eyes off him.
Maybe he had a twin he didn't know about?
@@SI-ln6tc No, it's not his looks, it's the gait and physical attitude. My brother had scholiosis which prevented him from turning his head on his neck so he had to turn his shoulders to look off to the side; it got worse as he got older.
Nice 👍👍
Did the Norwegians know it was the flu and not seasickness - I was told when my grandmother came here from Norway at that time that she was the only one who didn't get sick. I assumed she meant seasick.
I need a neck tie like the one the lecturer is wearing. So cool!.
It's fascinating
A lesson to be learned. Migration due to transportation.
Wow did not notice the tie or his arm until I read the comments. Now it’s all I see 😂
If you gargle hydrogen peroxide several times a day it can help you beat your respiratory sickness. At least it does with me. Every time I feel something coming I gargle hydrogen peroxide immediately and it seems like I beat it before it gets anywhere. I haven't been flu sick in several years.
You went to Mardis Gras? R U nuts?
If do you substiture 1918 images for 2020 images, seems to be talking of the covid-19! Definetily we don't have learned noting from the history or we are too stipid thinking we are modern now! We are in the 21centurt now! This can be dealed easely today! Well, I don't think soo. We still not learning from the past, or from the foreign state, other cityes, or foreogn countries! We are still making the same mistakes, again and again! Here in Italy an old popular saying sais " only the man (kind) falls hitting the same stone in his walking twice" others animals just learn from the first mistake and watch out for avoid the next one.
Excellent explanation sir! Many thanks. Stay Safe, stay at home, don't let the history repeats again! We are on time to limit the baddest toll.
His necktie is full of T-REX type dino
This sounds like shellshock?
So what do you think about SARS-CoV-2 virus actually attacking the Endothelium ??
Wow I'm from Philly had no idea it was this bad .
Glad you missed the big Mardi Gras parade 😉
