I almost died as a kid of histoplasmosis of the lungs. I remember at the age of 3 my folks would hold my arms up over my head just so I could gasp air. I'd choke so hard I'd pass out. I learned meditation and deep breathing, which ultimately saved my life. We were living in Kentucky at the time. I was lucky in that my parents used every possible means to help me survive. I now live At 8,000' and was a pro athlete.
I remember the 2012 outbreak. Two of the owners went to prison for what they did. I don't know if anyone else got prison time. Some people died from the infections or were injured by the side effects of treatment.
