You can't go wrong with a battle horse knife, I have the Chris Caine Evolution, I don't think they make them anymore not sure why because it's a fantastic tool.👍🏻😁🏴
Yeah, they make great knives. The Evolution is a cool blade. I'm not sure why they stopped making it.
My go to knife is the BHK H1 with a Sabre grind with a BHK Woodsman with a Scandi grind as a backup.
That's a nice setup! I love BHK, they make excellent blades.
So you carry a Bushcraft knife when you Bushcraft and a survival knife when you survive?
A survival knife is the knife you have when you need it.
When did I say that? I state in the video that I have a video on survival knives vs bushcraft knives. While not major, there actually are differences. And yes, a bushcraft knife can be used in a survival situation, but they're not the same thing.

I would recommend trying BPS adventurer. I love mora but BPS is much better knife. My newest favorite BPS Aura.
I love coldsteel the finwolf i took the thumbstuds off so its easier to sharpen.
When I was young every survival course i took (an its been alot) they always had a buck 110 or a copy. I personally carried a 112 and a kershaw lockback for years. I switched to kershaw because buck never came with a good edge.

BPS better than Mora, I am shocked with that statement, I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but BPS steel is awful , the only thing good about it is it's easy to sharpen in the field but then it would have to because it's not a steel that holds an edge well, real rust buckets. In my opinion Mora's cheapest knife beats any BPS.
I'm not trying to be funny, just genuinely shocked to hear anyone say BPS are anything better than cheap but they are creeping up in price.
@@TheDavewattsyour entitled to your opinion. The steel on BPS is 1066 which is equivalent to spring steel in America 5160. My knife holds a very good edge. Plus it came razor sharp with a true scandi. The last mora I got needed to be touched up. The sheath on mora is junk. So I personally don't believe you have a clue. The Aura I bought is in N690. I paid $44 to my door what did mora have to compare?
@@richardhenry1969 Sorry but your very wrong about me not having a clue, not only have I used knives for over 40 years but I also make them. 1066 although easy to sharpen has never been renowned for holding an edge, and is very prone to rusting, I know lots seem to be jumping on the BPS bandwagon for obvious reasons but mora have been making quality knives for hundreds of years and for me every knife they make far surpasses the poor quality of BPS knives. The Kansbol is a cheaper option than your $44 dollar knife, the design alone lends itself to a multitude of tasks unlike any BPS Knives. You can pick a Garberg up for next to nothing these days, again far better than any BPS knives. As I said in my original comment I wasn't being rude or funny, I was genuinely shocked at your opinion, but don't insult me saying I don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't a clue.
@@TheDavewatts another fact your wrong about kansbol is cheap stainless. N690 is a better steel. Not to mention the kansbol cost $40 for a stick tang and a garbage sheath.
So everything else you said is very suspicious.
I just cant do a scandi grind. They are so much easier to make also, they should be a third of the price of any other grind.

Nice video. I own an ESEE PR4, I don’t do much buschcraft other than the occasional fire, it is a great all around camp knife that can serve many purposes. I go fishing and camp a lot, I do own a CRKT Biwa and an ESEE CR 2.5 for preparing the fish, but I am sure I could use the PR4. Always wanted a scandi grind knife but don’t think I will use it for its intended purpose. The RB3 seems the perfect choice for me, really like it, but if just want to try out scandi for the use I may give it, maybe the Mora will be the right choice if I want to save some money. Thanks for your video.
I've owned a few PR4's over the years. When you successfully complete a course at Randall's Adventure and Training (EESE) school, the gift you a PR4. They're a great knife.
Great knives. alot of great knives out there! And of junk too. But.. when I graduated cub scouts, we had to sell... anyway, I got a Case hammerhead shark folder... we are talking early 1980s... which I still have..( I beat the crap out of it as a child) but it's still as good as new as far as use, functioning, still locks perfect, besides the scratches... and being stainless.. they don't make them like they used to... for real. I edc a bunch of different knives... have all kinds for all different purposes... but the Mora Garburg black is unbeatable for what u pay! I've beat this knives right beside a BK-9, Esse 6, PKS HD Scorpion, and my favorite is still the Mora ... comfortable, does 99.9% of bushcraft tasks perfectly!

I prefer the Bravo 1.25 LT 3V because it's super steel, I also carry a smaller Esee with it.
I currently own a Bravo 1 in A2 and have owned a 1.25 in 3V and a 1.5 in A2. I like Bark River Knives.

Awesome blades for sure. For me, though, I gave up on super steels. They are a major PITA to field sharpen when they finally need sharpening or get some edge damage.
I now prefer basic carbon steels, 1095, 5160, 1070/5, etc... they work well enough for me. Much more forgiving edges.
@pennsyltuckyreb9800 based take. High carbon steel is tough, has good edge retention, is easier to resharpen or repair in the field, and is far more multifunctional than SS. SS has its applications, but just not as a bushcraft knife, IMO.
@theaveragewoodsman6002 I will say I like my laminated VG10 Fallknivens. More chippy than I like, but they do hold a great edge through some major abuse but are still easy and quick to field sharpen, even with just the back of a leather belt. Barely have to maintenance them. As long as you aren't using them as prybars on sea rocks (😉).... they're pretty much indestructible blades.
Love/hate with the Fallknivens.... I still prefer some basic HC steel. 👍 Not in the cool kids club but proven for centuries.

Can't go wrong with a mora, they may not be full tang, but I dare you to try to destroy one with normal use. Even JoeX couldn't break the mora companion hd.
Yup, I've seen them used in survival courses and not break under hard use. You can't beat a Mora for the price.
