I have a cunning plan, let's watch more Blackadder here : ruclips.net/p/PLZwyeleffqk5r8Ze_qSF9nKi_9hfjH0qO
This show is just comedy green
James Lennon AWESOME!!!
James Lennon how strange I just looked at the name below me or above
+James Lennon Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, i salute you sir!
James Lennon Are you Ben Elton in disguise? Brilliant
I would say its more of a SPLAT!
Ever since this episode aired I have devoted myself to rediscovering the alchemical secret of turning lead into green. As yet my experiments have been fruitless. The frustration of it all is beyond measure, as is the inconvenience of getting rid of all the gold I've produced as a by product.
In the future, go ahead and send the gold to me, I'll compensate you handsomely
@@sleeksquirrel7572 It'll cost a fortune in postage, it never seems to be small amounts I always seem to end up with great big bricks of the stuff.
@@ian_b Money's no object, my wife won't stop clamoring for it for some reason 😉
theres your problem. lead isnt the base for green its copper. take copper and add time and you have green
@@raver377 Ah yes, the very rare and seldom seen Oxide of Cupric.
Rowan Atkinson’s elocution is like nothing else. The way he says splat is superb
It is partly due to compensating for a speech impediment.
"Enunciation" -- not "elocution" (look them up)
Stu Bur true
Or saying “Green” or “Bob” or saying anything with two pencils up his nose
@@iancurtis1152 Or the way he says "Oh god". 😂😂😂😂😂
Percys enthusiasm in this scene is just hilarious.
The first artificial green dye, copper arsenite (Scheele's Green), was made by Carl Scheele in 1775. Percy was a genius, and succeeded in creating green dye over 100 years before Scheele!
Baldrick, go forth into the streets and let it be known that Lord Blackadder wishes to sell his house.
Percy, Just go forth into the street.
eddie lasowsky 😂
Tim McInnerny is so amazing in this scene. His delivery is just spot on.
Can it be true? That I hold in my hand, a nugget of purest Green? I died laughing hearing that.
Yes, but except of nugget it's more of a splat
He is fortunate it is not immediately toxic.
There’s a theory on tv tropes it was radioactive hence why you never see anymore Percys
@@mackbolan8 Maybe. However since McInnery also plays Darling. I always like to think that the Percy family decends into the Darling family.
I made Nickelocene in the lab the other day, and all I could think of when it formed a green blob in my flask was "A nugget of purest green!"
I love the part when percy thinks he's going to say something great and he's clenching his fists and blackadder calls him an utter berk, great timing
jim lennon “Burke”, the term refers to a 19th century provider of corpses (of persons he killed) to medical colleges. It’s an anachronism here.
@@Scyllax Of course it is, the whole show is anachronistic since it's a comedy, made for the purpose of comedy.
Well... it *is* an anachronism, but "berk" has a different etymology. It's from rhyming slang: "Berkeley Hunt", meaning... yeah. That. So it's a lot ruder in origin than most people realise!
@@Loganberrybunny Oh seriously.....Get a grip!!!!!
@@gazeyre I think you're misunderstanding me. I love this show to pieces. No offence here, just an interesting bit of etymology.
Also, that comment of mine was a year ago. Really worth bringing back up now?
''So we three alone in all the world can make the finest Green at will.''
Lord Percy...you utter berk!
Rowan Atkinson is one of the few comedians who can get a laugh just from a pronunciation. The way he says "green" cracks me up every time haha.
like matt berry
"Bob"
@@eviegeorge603
Faaaaaatheeeerrrrrrr!
Even by the superb standards of Blackadder this is a wonderful scene.
This is one of those things where your mind wanders, whether you be at work in an office, a funeral, basically anywhere where a mode of decorum is essential. Then a scene like this enters your mind, and you start to replay it word for word in your head. And you burst out into a stifled laugh type snort at an unfortunate moment. And you try and disguise it by pretending it was a cough or a sneeze. The difficulty of trying not to laugh in case you come across as an absolute nutter, or worse, an UTTER BERK!
Ah yes, the giggle loop.
As someone who works at a funeral; I can confirm.
The way Rowan says “GREEN” is just hilarious 🤣
GeeeerrrrReeeNnnnn
A nugget of pure green
Hehe, those BBC jokers ;)
TheLivingHeiromartyr More of a splat
well, yes a splat today… who knows… who dares to dream!
isnt that uranium or radium if im nt wrong
@@syedferoz2188 no it's sulphur, hence the smell
Faron Smith Sulpher smells, but uranium/radium emits their own light, so I guess it’ll be funnier if Sir Percy accidentally made some radium through alchemy. Now everyone can die of cancer in a few months.
The way he says "Green" at 0:46 xD
Only Rowan Atkinson can get a laugh with just a pronunciation
1:02
rowan put exceptional, perfectionist focus into the enunciation of his lines. if you watch the whole rotten saga, you'll see how much it matters to him. he does his best to deliver his lines absolutely perfectly
I'm surprised no one has mentioned my favorite bit. After literally an HOUR'S ceaseless searching... so he spent a whole hour on it lol
This is one of Blackadder's funniest ever scenes.
I think this is one of the worst scenes in all of Blackadder; it is the only time that I've seen Rowan's delivery be sub par.
Percy's best scene in all the 4 series
@@David-ud9ju Why all the argumentative bots on RUclips? What is going on?!
Purest Green LOL!... I Love It :)
purest green! genius!
Percy was one of the best creations from the Blackadder camp, and cast beautifully in this actor!
"Needs must when the devil vomits into your kettle!" XD
“Baldrick, go forth into the street and let it be known that Lord Blackadder wishes to sell his house....Percy, just go forth into the street.”
Once upon a time we had comedy set in Elizabethan England with sharp writing and characters that stand the test of time. Now we have panel shows with stand up comedians robbing a living by delivering the same material over half a dozen different programs.
Yes, there are far too many of these 'shows' and they seem to get worse with every new one that comes out.
I like green
So I see. that is quite a nice shade of Pure Green.
yes
Greeny McGreen 50 shades of Green.
Is it comfy and/or easy to wear?
I can tell...
And so do I!
If you watch carefully, some brooches of the finest green do in fact show up later in the episode.
I once downloaded the script for this episode just to read this scene - so funny I was truly LOLing for hours afterwards.
A nugget of purest green!
You Percy Lord Percy are an Utter Berk
Thats one of my favorite Blackadder moments hahaha love it.
Love how just for a few moments, Blackadder thinks he might have actually done it
So do us, even though irl alchemy is impossible.
@@davidw.2791 not impossible, just economically inviable.
@@Gabu_ And it would be radioactive too.
"Percy, just go forth into the street".😂
*Takes out a gun*
'Give me all your Green, NOW!'
One of my favorite scenes of all time
If only Blackadder had taken Percy's discovery more seriously the chemistry of plastics could have have been advanced by 400 years.
Y'know, I always thought they were implying it was uranium.
The favorite scene of this episode is where Blackadder blackmails the Bishop of Bath and Wells, and the Bishop replies: "I have never seen such vile and foul deeds. Have you ever considered a career in the Clergy?"
( I am paraphrasing)
I also loved Percy's outfit at the end.
Fun fact: the actor who played the bishop also played Gestapo officer Arnold Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark!
"Of course you know what your great discovery means, don't you Percy?"
"yes, I think so my lord!"
"that you, Percy, Lord Percy, are an utter Berk."
I like to imagine Percy invented plastic several hundred years early in this scene
From the green lighting I thought he created something radioactive!
Might explain the smell Blackadder described
@@andrewtodaro2874KRYPTONITE😂
"A NUGGET OF PUREST GREEN!?"
*_it's literally radium_*
I cannot hear the phrase 'who knows?' without adding 'or dares to dream?' because of this scene.
my god... that is one pure green, imagine how much its worth in the market
Among the spectator crowd probably quite a bit.
Lol
This is one of my favourite jokes in all of Blackadder, if not in all of comedy.
Been a fan for over 20 years, and I've only just noticed that at the start of this clip you can see the edge of the set to the right.
I want to combine this somehow with the Star Trek line: "It is...it is...it is green."
"Needs must when the devil vomits into your kettle" Brilliant 😂😂😂
Should've included the scene shortly afterwards I which Percy has a necklace and rings fashioned from purest green.
"I've had some happy times here, when you and Percy have been out!!"😂😂😂
Still some of the finest, most delicious insults even after so many years.
he discovered kryptonite
Thats probably uranium
@@Mercuryreal uranium is not green
@@jhogrute huh, didn't know that
jhogrute More likely to be radium. Anyway, it’s fun to think that they’ll all die of cancer very soon.
Definitely one of the best moments in Blackadder.
What an utter birk.
'berk' or sometimes 'burk'.
Percy is so good in this
Percy it's green
😂
Always lose it at that
My colleague made a green compound in the lab and was super excited. So i showed them this and they were thrilled
I like how even the mortar is fuming.
This series and Black Adder goes Fourth are the best in the library. Something about Rowan with facial hair. LOL
Perhaps the single finest delivery of the word "berk" in the history of stage & screen. 😏
The best scene of the best series.
A nugget of PURE GREEN... 🤩
What a brilliant cast and writers. This is one of my favourites
Love this show. Im actually friends with Rowan Atkinson. He's a very sweet and kind man. A very gentle soul.
This clip makes me proud that green is my favourite colour! XD 💚 🟩
Never has the use of the word BERK been more emphatically put.
Priceless priceless priceless comedy 🏆
A nugget of purest green🔥 🌳💨 😎lol oh blackadder
”Percey just go forth into the street..” lmao
Well Percy, you just made Kryptonite.
You'll be able to buy back that house alright. Lex Luthor's gonna show up in his time machine and pay whatever possible to get that machine.
I love how you can see inside the wall of the set at the start. Hah.
+TheStraad. That just adds to the humor.
Are you quite sure it's not radioactive?
Maybe that's why Percy doesn't exist beyond the second season...
Hmm... perhaps...
But there was Captain Darling from season 4 who is presumably Percy's descendant.
The room did seem to be glowing....
Would that mean he’s the scientific discoverer we currently believe Marie Curie to be? Is that green actually curium? And should we rename it percium?
"What you have discovered, if it has a name . . . is some green?"
LMFAO
*This is the best example of comedy*
My favourite scene .... amongst many many greats )))))
"Percy.. just go forth into the street."
One of the best comedy sketches ever! )))
I was showed this video in a physics lecture... and then he showed us what pure gold looks like. Pure Gold... is Red.
One of my favourite episodes 🙂
This has to be one of my faveroute scenes from series two:) Percy`s face gets me everytime..
LOL, In my opinion Blackadder was, is and will be one of the best comedies.
Can someone upload the clip from later on where Percy's made jewellery from the "green"?
🤣🤣🤣 Amazing
So you think there is a market for jewellery that looks like snot?
It looks like you've sneezed.
This was a green era for comedy.
I love Percy the most :-)
This scene gets a green medal from me.
I must start using "but needs must when the devil vomits into your kettle"
LOL a timeless classic! I can quote every series from start to finish haha xD
This line's better: Oh, God! This place stinks like a pair of armoured trousers after the Hundred Years War!
Genius! 😂
😂😂😂
"Dares to dream!!!"
"Needs must when the Devil vomits into your kettle"😂😂😂
Percy! Just go forth into the street... lol
Plot twist: they all die from radiation poisoning, after their hair falls out
Absolute genius.
Ah, my personal favourite scene from the whole Blackadder world. Tim McInerney's finest moment.
Maybe i'm a bit late, but isn't "the famous blue stone of Galveston" his finest moment ? On the other hand, life ain't no competition.
@@joachimlubs3256 You are late! 13 years late! But because I'm still around and apparently still constantly on RUclips I will reply almost immediately and say... Fair enough! I still like this bit though :P
Majestic when he calls him a Berk
My theory is that Lord Percy discovered Radium before Madame Curie.
The Hulk’s favourite colour. :3
That chemistry set is very advanced for Elizabethan times.
this place stinks like a pair of armoured trousers after the hundred years war.
caphalor08 Baldrick have you been eating dung again?
Robert Phillips my lord success
What?
muskatDR after literally an hour of ceaseless work I have succeeded in making gold Pure GOLD!.
Are you sure?
Percy’s delivery at 0:51 is Shakespearean
WHY do folks feel they have to type out a part of the script that we have just that second watched? Do they think we have so short a memory we need their help?
YES THAT'S GREAT. THANK YOU - YEP - WE JUST WATCHED THE CLIP
I shall miss this comments section, i had some happy times here before it had loaded, but needs must when the youtube commenters vomit into your kettle.
I think it's because they're saying they liked that particular line. It's either that or saying 'I liked [Insert quote here]'.
Duggie, just go forth into the street.
well arent you a smartass
I agree - but without that type of comment, there's hardly be anything at all down here under the video.
I love Tim so much
Lord Percy has a very fine codpiece!!!
