  • The plaintiff says she met the defendant in a shelter and remembered her from a news story about a woman leaving a baby in a drug house. She’s suing her for car repairs and transportation services. The defendant says she was a victim of domestic violence, not a drug user. She claims the plaintiff and her son are con artists, and she’s countersuing for emotional distress.

He was definitely over the top as if he had a personal issue with this woman. Perhaps there was somering else she said that was perhaps edited out.Regardless he was still over the top and the admitted former drug addict behaved better than he did. I believe her as she said the woman had been in and put of the shelter. All the woman did was get paperwork from ONE of the three times she had been in the shelter. What about the other times. But I get the feeling the more the scammer talked judge Mathis softened his tone to the mentor. I think he began to see the scammer indeed had issues. Shame on you judge. That's why you don't jump the gun and sometimes as the judge your eyes and ears are all the proof you need.Kudos to the former addict for maintaining her composure cause a lot of people would have yelled back and took that L.

They come in there like they posting on Facebook without no proof. So I’m pretty sure he was staffed on this case and knew that the plaintiff was not telling the whole truth. Now if she had came in with the article and the news clipping about this woman’s past It would’ve been a different conversation. What if this defendant decided she wanted to work with children and she couldn’t because the plaintiff is putting out her version of this women’s narrative.

Granted the female plaintiff should never have shared the horrific allegations about the defendant without some evidence. But the judges reaction was way over the top. At the end of the testimony it was clear that there was something wrong with the defendant. In the hallway the defendant could barely keep her balance and her words were slurred worst than towards the end of the testimony. Judge Mathis jumped all over the plaintiff, and rightly so, but he also missed identifying the signs of a clearly inebriated and/or high defendant. I hope that Doyle mentioned this to Judge Mathis, because even Doyle’s facial expressions when they were standing in the hallway showed he had picked up on the defendants
    “Crack-ish” behavior.

I worked in Social Services for almost 20 years and I know that the Defendant could have very well been busted for drugs and child neglect and all she had to do was tell the courts and Social Services that she is ALSO a victim of domestic violence. That way, she doesn’t lose custody of her children. She is referred to a shelter which houses addicts as well as victims of DV. The paperwork will say victim of DV instead of drug abuse. The Judge should have been more receptive to the information the Plaintiff was giving. However, I do believe the Plaintiff is still using drugs.

If it was on the news, then go to the website and get a copy of the video and story to bring to court; or go down to the news station and request it for your upcoming court case. No excuses for not bringing your documented proof to court if its true - unless of course, you don't have any, 'cause it ain't true.

@@waldolydecker8118 lol true, but yet this isn’t a court of law where it’s beyond reasonable doubt. The judge had discretion on what he decided to believe and he failed to realize the defendant was on drugs or even worse, acknowledge it. I could tell by the way she walked in and was smiling lol, then I read the comments and affirmed myself. Is it proof? Nay but I have enough to make a formed opinion and the judge did not. • @waldolydecker8118

@@AP-xw5px - you discredit your own comment. You can't first claim that the Judge had total "discretion on what he decided to believe," then complain that he failed to realize the defendant was on drugs. If the judge has total discretion, then he also has the discretion to either not believe the person was on drugs or even if they were, he may choose to believe it had no material negative relevancy to the primary issue on which he was ruling.
Stated another way - the Judge has no obligation to see it the way you see it. And since it is doubtful you have equal or more academic and professional work experience in the practice of law than Judge Mathis, most disputes between how you see a legal issue and how a certified Judge and lawyer like Mathis see an issue is quite frankly a "no contest" competition.

No he didn't...the "black lady" brought no evidence to court...only her big mouth. The Judge can't award judgements based on whose mouth is the loudest.. If the "black lady" would have brought some evidence to court, maybe she would have won. The "wobbly walking lady" brought her evidence, was respectful, and was not unruly enough to get thrown out of court. Given her lack of control, Its almost as if the "black lady" acted like she was the one high in court.

@@judeak2442 - may have been, but its speculation, because her BEHAVIOR in court is what is paramount. The loud-mouth, talking-over-the-Judge plaintiff arguably acted more high than the defendant, who was calm and respectful throughout the case. If she was high, she handled it well in the court room and more importantly, that still doesn't prove the plaintiff's inflammatory allegation. You can't use that as "evidence"; the plaintiff has to bring proof of her charges, because plenty of people have been high before, but that don't make them what the plaintiff claimed.
If you make a claim that something is so well known and documented and that it was even "on the News" then you should be able to bring an official letterhead document, a video news clip, some internet website posting, or a newspaper clipping proving what you are talking about - you just can't bring your big mouth to court and think that's enough.
