Hi Jake. Probably a bearing problem. But alter all these pulls on the track it was the expectation, I guess. Thanks for sharing. Dutch regards, Nico. (PS my car failed too. My injector nr 5 gave up after only 55k miles. I think the injectors do wear by time too, not only on mileage. My index 5 set is almost 13 yo. New injectors are expected this week).

I’d recommend swapping bearings in. I had about the same level of noise. Took it apart, ended up having a bad bearing on number 2, although it hadn’t spun it was basically all copper
Lifter tick on n52 it sounds like bottom end too you may not have destroyed it yet it doesn’t sound great but it doesn’t sound exactly like rod knock it could be low oil pressure from a collapsed filter
Yeah, I've heard all sorts of things can cause some terrible ticking/knocking on these cars but unfortunately I think this noise is coming from inside the engine 😔
in stead of running it and causing more damage why not just drop the pan and check the rod bearing ? you might be able to polish up the crank and throw in some rod bearings and save the engine? all the best .
If will and rudnic can rebuild a whole n54 I’m sure you can too!! Love my 135, your videos were a main reason I bought mine, such a finicky car though… never seems happy, picked up a e36 328is last year and it’s quickly becoming the favorite child….
Haha 😂 I think I'm gonna put it in the hands of a trusted engine builder. I looooove the E36 328is. That was the first BMW I ever bought and the car that got me into BMWs. Would love to own another one some day, or an E36 M3.
I know you put the solid subframe bushing and m suspension in the rear. Can you hear the rear gears humming? I want to upgrade the rear and I’m debating m3 bushings or solid bushings. I am building my 135i to be stock plus. High flow cats full interior, trying to keep the noise at an acceptable level. I want to build a 1M like BMW should have.
Could go with just a simple bottom end build and ported heads I think that’s how wedge performance has their car setup or go crazy with a custom closed deck but feel like that starts getting even more expensive lol
since you have experience with bmw vehicles, can you give me some advice? I have a 2011 bmw 335i and I am in the process of changing the turbine and doing it full bolt ons, he recommends that I change the rod bearings, I have the acl i am looking for 550hp
My 335i has a sliiiight kind of ticking sound (hard to describe) whenever I switch from park to either reverse or drive (AT, unfortunately but I got it like that for functionality reasons). Planning on checking it out but I find the noise so werid because it basically won’t start (the noise) until I shift from park. Anyway, hope you find what’s up with the car and it’s an easy fix!
@@jake_spence Yeah. I’m highly unsure of what it is but the car runs completely fine and the MHD readings are on point so it must be some loose piece or something that needs tightening. Still, going to check it out asap. I love manuals but where I live, it’s a nightmare due to traffic and the roads so I went with AT since it’s not my daily but I do use it more often than not
Have to change all injectors. They are 3300 bucks right now it's insane. Probably gonna ditch DI and go standalone at this point and it will be cheaper 🤷
Sounds like rod bearing. Stop driving. Check oil filter. Drop the oil pan. If not much damage to crank, u might be able to just put new bearings in. The reason it only start to have noise when hot is because oil gets thin when hot. When cold oil is thick enough and oil pressure is higher when cold. U might be able to save it!!! Especially it only knock when hot
