hello my lovelies ! in today's vlog we are spring cleaning...in the winter loll ever since i got back from visiting my family in germany i felt like my house was a mess so it was time for a complete clean up! hope you enjoy it!

I always say I'm a maximalist when I'm like, why is this space looking so chaotic again 😄 I dated a minimalist for 4 years (he owned four tops, all black) and he taught me a lot about how owning less can be less stressful but he never tempted me to adopt the lifestyle fully. I'm still a maximalist but a little less than I used to be (my biggest issue is stationary)
omggg im definitely curious what thats like to live an actual minimalist life…. maybe one day i will try it lolll
I pretty much feel the same about cleaning. I might be a tiny little OCD about it but if things are not in order it makes me feel uncomfortable and I can't focus properly. Though I actually don't have a junk drawer after I did a major decluttering three years ago.XD I went through every single space in my apartment, tried to be honest with myself about whether I needed that item or if I was just hanging onto it because someone I care about gave it to me and I was able to thin out all my closets and cabinets so well.
I sold and donated a ton of stuff and it really helped that I had discovered a Goodwill-style store in my city where I knew everything would go to someone who needed it. Plus, at that store I got vintage versions of some of the things I got rid of because those are usually prettier and of better quality. That one high quality item of that type that I can keep forever, if you will. :) Felt sooo good to be able to let go of a lot of things and I think I did a good job at keeping the things that matter to me without anything escalating into collecting or hording stuff. I even managed to inspire my mom to do the same and she has the same problems with letting go of stuff and more of a hordning tendency (combined with letting dust collect, which is a total no go for me lol).
Oaamgggggg that sounds so amazing 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 i wish…..i could be a minimalist person and completely start fresh with an empty house loll but i just have so many little items in my house that i cant seem to part with lollll ….also i am so envious of you not having a junk drawer that is so…..aspiring 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
@@lifebycarson Aww, don't worry, you don't have to be a minimalist at all. I'm a maximalist. I love what they now call dark academia, boho and steampunk/victorian. I have just managed to make it work in a decluttered way. :D
Seriously, I think minimalism would destroy my soul. lol I think there is a reason why during and after corvid the minimalist trend kind of faded out because now people were spending a lot of time at home and actually had to live in the empty, soulless and often cold spaces they had created. There is nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with beautiful things and colors that are meaningful to you. You just have to not let it go out of hand.
But I can really recomment going through all you things (one cupboard and drawer at the time so it doesn't get overwhelming. It took my weeks!). Sort out what is clearly junk, then what you really don't use (for that you can ask your relatives and friends if they can use it and if not you can sell or donate it, preferably to a place where you know they won't throw it away, so you know that it is still going to a good place where people value it) and for the things you are emotionally attached to, try to condense them a bit, go through them, organize them and you will probably realize that you can let go of some of them and keep a bit less.
You absolutely do not have to get rid of every single one except one like they sometimes do in those decluttering shows. I actually think that's unnatural behavior for most humans.
PS: It's okay to have a junk drawer too! ;D

omggg i actually struggle with this as well 😭😭😭 i have a friend who works at a jewelry shop in sweden and she has gotten me 80% of all my necklaces… but the one im wearing in this vlog is actually from pandora! Its the little mermaid sea shell 🥹♥️ my sisters got it for me as an xmas gift because its my childhood favorite movie ~~~
for earrings i always stock up on simple pieces from tkmaxx (or tj maxx) whenever i visit europe or the us 😭
