There have definitely been some music majors in the octet. I can't recall, but I think Jerome (dark haired fro bass) may have been... he had crazy good arranging skills.
I can't speak for any men's octet members, but when I was a music major at Cal Berkeley (there aren't many), none were in the Octet or the Overtones (women's acapella). Berkeley's music dept. is more theoretical than performance oriented--ethnomusicology, theory and music history mostly. Watching the octet was absolutely my favorite thing to do at Cal.
I do, but unfortunately I don't think I can distribute it. You may wanna contact the active members by googling uc men's octet and emailing the music manager.
this is the best song you guys have ever done. period. and that's saying something. you guys have a director? or is it student run? and do you guys arrange your own stuff? if so...shiat.
Nope no director. One of the guys takes the role of "music manager", who in this case is the guy farthest on the left, which is the closest thing to a music director in the group. The group is fully student run and rehearses around 10hours a week. This tune was arranged off a CD version by the music manager.
Ahhh... that great barbershop liar medley! Love to hear you do more barbershop! (from one barbershopper to another!)
I recently heard part of the Liar Medley on an old radio show- Fibber McGee and Molly. These guys are awsome!
That's what I'm here for hon, to make your day brighter! =^.^=
Thank you :)
Aww, sugar, I'll give you a thumbs up.
They went to UC Berkeley at the time.

UC stands for University of California. Specifically, UC Berkeley.

Sounds a bit different in female - a cappella. But I totally loved it. :D
who sings it on Pandora? I'd love to hear another version.
hey bro got the music for this?
there is 7 not eight it thought i was an octet
Yeah, Kermit the frog and the rat....(grimmace)
Excellent, but doesn't compare to the Gas House Gang rendition. (v=DxHnJnBNQTc)
Gas house gang is not professional. One of the rules about competing barbershop quartets is that they are not pros.
