    Spot lock isn't the only thing with the newer trolling motors.The ghost and force are also brushless motors so battery life and power are much better then a brushed motor like the ultrex and the fortrex.

    I just wanted to thank you for your videos on the XF189. They were instrumental in my research on the boat. I live in California and could not buy it here do to Crestliner supply chain issues. I drove it Missouri to get after I bought it sight unseen over the phone. I actually switched from an old “18” foot (17’6”) Javelin renegade. Could not be happier. Great boat other then speed and ride. It fishes great. Front deck and rod locker were main reasons for buying. Deck is probably triple what I’m used to fishing from. I have some mobility issues due to a knee replacement that isn’t perfect but made my day so much easier. I have a 150 pro xs. Turning a 21p tempest. I run heavy with an Ultrex,mega live & 360 with helix 12&9 on bow and 2 12’ talons on rear. I’m hitting 52 mph with 2 people but I’m still playing with my jack plate. 5800ish RPM. Thanks again.

    Almost identical to my old white 2018 Lowe stinger 188, was a great boat for shallow lakes, Very stable and just a huge deck front and back, you gonna love the space, 👌👌🔥🔥🔥

    I really like your rig! It goes to show that manufacturers make all these sizes and configurations for good reason. We all have unique needs based on where we fish, etc. I just picked up a similar Lund, and it is really perfect for the way I fish. Congrats on a sweet boat.

    Ultrex is not all about spot lock. It's the electric steering cable is what makes it a game changer.

      The motor itself in the water is not louder. I shallow fish just like you. Not trying to start crap or anything and I love watching your videos

      @@alexkorn6036 All good brother and I appreciate the input. When I fished with Flukemaster I just remember his ultrex being much louder...maybe it wouldn't spook the fish. No doubt it's an awesome trolling motor, I just didn't feel I would personally benefit much from it. Hope all is well man! 👊

    Glad to see you finally get a 24v trolling motor which you'll never regret. As far as outboard, I totally agree with keeping it meeting the horsepower requirements of your closest or favorite lake. 95% of the time when the boat is under power it's 24v gonna be pushing it. Nice boat

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  4 года назад

      @@1Probound Oh sweet! I asked Crestliner and Lewis and they both said a transom saver isn't needed. Have you seen or heard of any issues with guys not using one? So far the Wedge appears to be working, but on my last boat I did like the one that I could attach to the trailer.

    • @1Probound
      @1Probound 4 года назад

      The trim shafts are plenty strong enough to support the engine with no damage to the transom. Possible exception might be if you travel a lot of rough roads. Transom saver is a good insurance policy.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  4 года назад

      @@1Probound Ok, that's good to know. I'd say the roads I travel are pretty decent for the most part. Other than the Wedge what else would you recommend? I don't see a spot on the trailer where I could attach anything. I really appreciate your input bud. Thank you!

    The ultrex was built for current, it doesn't matter if you're in 2 in of water or 20 ft of water talons will not always keep you in place.. say you're fishing the body of water and they're pulling water like crazy and current is just ripping, that trolling motor will not hold up to the force of the current you couldn't keep enough batteries on that boat to fish all day long just on your trolling motor, but if you have a spot lock feature that's mainly what that was invented for and it was nothing to do with fishing offshore it was to keep you in one spot if you were fighting current or you wanted to cast at a specific way point and not have to guess if you were fishing or casting at that way point, had nothing to do with depth.. I'm not disagreeing with you TJ.. love your channel I've been a subscriber for a long time, I'm just saying that I know for a fact that the ultrex an those type motors the idea of spotlock came from fishing in current and didn't matter about the depth.. plus if you ever travel and go to different bodies of water that you've never fished before, your talons may not be long enough.. you never know, that spotlock feature is amazing and I'm like you, I'm not an offshore fisherman either I mean I'll throw a crankbait with the best of them but I do most of my dirty work up close to the bank but still that spot lock is worth every penny!! But my lakes are also more damn driven, every body of water around me going all the way up to guntersville has a dam on each end of them, so one day you could be fishing and there's no current in the next day you could be fishing and they be pulling water and it be like level 4 rapids, CRAZY current... that spot lock is where it's at!! I've seen people with power poles on my lake n the current be dragging them away from where they're wanting to fish but to each his own, whatever you're comfortable with, whatever you want, it's YOURS not anybody else's, it's YOUR opinion that matters.. no one else's and that's the only thing that matters!! Keep on keepin on. Stay safe and tight lines always

    FYI that wedge is not a “transom saver.” The weight of the motor is still torquing the transom as you trailer. Get a real transom saver that prevents the flexing of your transom.

      Hey bud, sorry I just seen this. I didn't have any issues with my Tracker other than the layout and I grew out of it, but it was a solid boat. To be honest there is no comparison between the 2. The Crestliner in my opinion is better built boat with a better layout and a much bigger boat overall. Now I'm comparing my 189 to the 175 Tracker I had, but you can compare my 189 to the 195 Tracker and the Crestliner has a bigger front deck. It's a well thought out design. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊💪
