My mother worked for lesney in the early 70’s in Canada I remember having the green one for sure maybe other colours as well? She would bring me home a new one everyday! 😉
Got to go through my childhood collection from the 60s and 70’s. I know for sure I have a Monkeemobile with the Monkees inside and doors that open. Still in the box, too.
Money is only useful as it can get you what you want. If you wanted that red javelin, and buying it didn’t prevent you from doing other things you want MORE, it’s a good expenditure. 😊
A fine addition to your collection. The free Pony Trailer an added bonus. I just have two green Javelins, I prefer to hunt my cars in markets and secondhand stores, I doubt I will find a red Javelin, but there are occasional surprises I have a metallic blue Citroen SM without the Streaker decals, which is quite rare.
Very nice, I loved the toy cars from around that time when I was a kid. I think the last ones I ever got was the sets that glowed in the dark. They had some sort of mechanism that shot them out at speed that also glowed in the dark. As an adult I collected the vintage stuff like Dinky, Corgi, Spot-On, Husky, etc. I don't collect any longer, but it's very nice to see other people still enjoying the hobby.
Hello , very good video . I also collect, buy , sell and trade Matchbox cars . The Red Javelin is the rarest of all the Javelins, the one you bought is very nice, has a little orange 🍊 peel paint on top and the bottom is a little tarnished. I would have gone up to 175.00 for that model myself. The reason I am guessing that the seller gave you the horse trailer is that in 1970 or 72 , not sure of the year, the Javelin was in a 2 pack with a yellow horse trailer. The green Javelin is the easiest to find , then next is the blue . I 1972/73 the green Javelin was in a 2 pack with the horse trailer. They also sold in a 2 pack a Javelin with a house trailer, that is hard to find . Also the silver AMX Javelin is rare in mint shape . I myself have a few of these but in bad conditions with no box . But I don’t have the red one . Please check out some of my videos, I do have some mint rare Matchbox cars . The yellow horse trailer number 43 with a mint box goes for 25 to 30 dollars. Have a great day and God Bless Mike Espo .
Congratulations on the catch. Two months ago, I was clearing out the attic of an old house and found about 150 toy cars (each individually wrapped in newspaper) in three half-decomposed cardboard boxes. About 70 Matchbox, 30 Corgi, 20 Schuco, several Hot wheels and other brands I don't even know. Fortunately, most of them are undamaged. A very interesting memento after the deceased owner of the house.
I still have the green one, which i got back in the early Seventies. It's the oldest die-cast model I own. I didn't even know there were so many variations. Enjoy your collection.
I've got a great collection of Corgi, Dinky and Matchbox. I've had them since I was very young. Most are in mint condition, most still in boxes. I bought most from my paper round money. Now looking to sell to a genuine collector if interested.
I used to collect Lesney Matchbox, and in the late 90s I sought out the first-year Superfast conversion models. Been a while, but I think I paid US60 for a 58c Girder Truck. I bought about 2 dozen more first-series Superfast but left them at my mother's house when I moved into a friend's spare bedroom. They sat on display back home until I got my own apartment, then I loaded them (and my 1st-gen Transformers and my large collection of modern MIB Yesteryears - gifted to my semi-annually by my sister and my brother-in-law) into a plastic tub and brought them up to my new address. But I left them in my car for about 6 months, during which time my car was broken into and they were all lost. I gave up on the hobby, after that
i had the silver one when i was a kid. still have it in a matchbox carry case somewhere. almost certain i had the red and blue ones as well. might still have them somewhere too
I have this obsession with metal toy cars.1:64 or 1:43, does not matter but some of them are very expensive to purchase. Some might not understand how this spider can bit you and it does some damage to you but, a good damage.
is there anything else that you will be collecting like ships or planes or what type of things do matchbox do just a ? great vids hope more different things come to the channel instead of just cars. and I'm not having a go. just be cool to see other stuff to
Very cool car, its not expensive if you are willing to pay the cost. I have the green one (in terrible condition). I also think I have a pink one, although I could be confusing it with another :)
Greetings Tyrone, it’s been awhile since I shared a comment! Hope you’re doing well. That red AMC is a beautiful addition to your collection. And the custom from your friend is an absolutely stunning! Keep the vids coming! Carl (Ohio)
Great upload, sharing your excitement and even your costs! Similar, I started collecting many years back when acquiring was more freely bartering. I do too pay two/three zeros for a model, two or three wheeled, somemade WW1, some classic, hard to find items. I still enjoy buying, hate selling, but now I can easy fill a museum, don't know what to do with the stuff. It is nice and very special but crime just around the corner, with somany only interested in money.... Thank you for sharing!
As old as I am. I just recently found out that there in internet is horse pedigree’s that goes to 1600 something. My first dogs, greyhound, grand gran grand x xx father was from 1770 I found out from internet.
Great find! Did not know there was this many variants to the Javelin. My fairly rare piece is the purple Superfast #22 Pontiac Grand Prix. The opening doors on the Regular Wheels #22 were also cast shut, on the Superfast.
I believe you can still buy a good car with 200-250$ in some countries, a real one I mean....tbh I also love my matchbox / hotwheels collection 😉 thank you for sharing these precious moments with us...
My mates Dad worked for matchbox in the 70s, he would take us on a Saturday morning and we would make cars for ourselves 👍🇬🇧. The factory was near where the new Olympic stadium is in East London, they were Brilliant days.
I know the addiction well. In the 80's 90's I had all the Corgi, Dinky TV/Film cars with original boxes. Probably worth a mint now? I sold the whole lot as a bundle to a dealer in Sydney Australia as of course I needed the money at the time.
Why are the Matchbox Javelins so expensive ? Rare History Real Life ? Where in Australia are you living ? Do you sell any Matchbox Maybe Doubles or Damage Ones. Sydney 👀🔥🇦🇺
Nice Javelin, I like how the twin packs sometimes had a different version of the base model. My question for you is if you have the twin pack set in the twin pack do you take it out of the packaging to enjoy or do you leave I the package to retain the value for future sale? This is always my dilemma when I buy a unique vehicle in the original package. Cheers 🚙👍
In our hobby, this is the ultimate dilemma! 😂 I have a turquoise Javelin in a twin pack arriving soon which will immediately be opened on camera. I’m only collecting for my own pleasure…it’s up to others to sell them when I’m gone 🤷♂️
Yes. If it meant that much to me, yes I would. Worth every cent. And what a beautiful collection. They need a display case. Contact 3D Printer guy. I once spent $150 for a Star wars figure just because it had a Japanese Bell sticker on it. So don't feel guilty. This was an expense of pride. **Looks at broken horsey** Neigh, not today...
There was an old turnstile countertop type display they (individual boxes) used to fit in. Where can anybody find it? I don't collect the cars but I want one. Great memory from my childhood.
when i was a kid it was match box vs hot wheels and hot wheels won because for the next decade and a half became all about hot wheels. i don't know how matchbox made a come back.
Well I hope you’re happy with all of those nice cars. Not all of us get to have nice things such as yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself. You share right now! 😂 it’s my turn to play cars. No, really like what your doing keep up the cool videos.
My Father died a few years ago and had about 200 matchbox cars. All are in their original boxes. I know nothing about matchbox cars and would like to sell them. Where can I get them valued and sell them on to someone who would appreciate them?
Hi William, values change over time and depending on location. U.S only variations are harder to get hold of in other countries therefore more expensive, for example. The easiest way to nail down an accurate value is to do a search for any given car on eBay but use the ‘sold’ filter. This distinguishes between what a seller got for it as opposed to what a seller wants for it. I hope this helps. 😊
Mum worked at Matchbox in the UK on a press machine back in the early 1970's. Nice to see her work still being appreciated by so many!
I bet you had one amazing car collection.
It costs what it costs. And now it’s yours. Great addition to the collection Tyrone.
The red Javalin originally came in a 2 pack with a horse trailer. It's a beautiful color and a hard version to come by. Thanks for sharing.
I still kept all my Corgy's, Dinkey's and Match Boxes from my youth. I'm 70 now and still enjoy looking at them.
Congrats. Grail piece. Enjoy. Good on ya!
Money is only useful as it can get you what you want. If you wanted that red javelin, and buying it didn’t prevent you from doing other things you want MORE, it’s a good expenditure. 😊
Thanks for sharing your collection, classics!
When I was a kid I had one of this green Matchbox Javelins, it was my most loved model of all my Matchbox and Siku.
Impressive collection of cars. Love the custom one!
Wow, those are very cool. I might have one of those. I'm going to check my matchbox castings. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome collection of the AMX. I appreciate the mention ❤ hope you're both doing well. Cheers KC & CC 🇦🇺🇳🇿🤝🇦🇺🇦🇺👍🍻😎
Awesome! Happy fo you my friend! Always cool to add a rare piece. Congrats!!
Congrats on the new purchase!
Great collection. I had the green one ........... wish Matchbox would have made an Alabama State Trooper Javelin edition. They used them in '71-'72.
remember them well..had one down in south mobile county...

It must be a relief when you get a 1973 matchbox
Beautiful. Love it. I would like one too .

Now looking to sell to a genuine collector if interested.
To think I used to buy these with my pocket money in the 1970s....
Wish I knew they would fetch $300, in the future!! 😊
I used to collect Lesney Matchbox, and in the late 90s I sought out the first-year Superfast conversion models. Been a while, but I think I paid US60 for a 58c Girder Truck. If I spent that much I would have to take it with me when I went looking for a new home 😎. Good job Sir.
Beautiful Red Javelin there - I don't have that, but I do have the Green with Chrome Scoop, which presents well. Nice collection!
Beautiful 💯
I have owned my 1973 a=AMX since 94 ,., I haven't driven it in a long time
i had the silver one when i was a kid. still have it in a matchbox carry case somewhere. almost certain i had the red and blue ones as well. might still have them somewhere too

Que hermosas piezas de colección

Thankyou very much for your kind words ❤🙏🇦🇺🤝🇺🇲😊👍🍻🍻
Yes, my red Javelin wasn’t cheap either but my orange pre-production one was a lot more. The No.9 is my all time favourite super fast casting.
So cool!!! 🎉

Nice score Tyrone

Nice!😊
For me it's my pontiac fiero, I purchased it still in the paper wrapping in the box. I found 2 like that. I do own a fiero.

Very nice. Mine only cost a couple of quid but it's playworn

Very cool.....
I knew someone who's parents worked at the matchbox factory and had boxes and boxes of cars even some glow in the dark cars which never went to market
My mates Dad worked for matchbox in the 70s, he would take us on a Saturday morning and we would make cars for ourselves 👍🇬🇧. The factory was near where the new Olympic stadium is in East London, they were Brilliant days.

Velice krásná sbírka
in the late 60s early 70s my mom used to buy me a matchbox car every time i went to town with her. at least they were played with
Nice Javelin, I like how the twin packs sometimes had a different version of the base model.

Agree! Can't play with them when they live in a box 😁@@buildingtheultimatematchbo257
what? i got those in my loft, amazing what treasures we sit on
Yes. If it meant that much to me, yes I would. Worth every cent. And what a beautiful collection.

Neigh, not today...
I think I have the green one at my mom’s. We saved everything Lol! It’s 4 boxes of 60’s 70’s and 80’s matchbox cars there I know.
The 'free gift' note is probably to avoid customs fees if they open the box?
Like classic matchbox cars
I dont think you wasted your cash if you love it ..
A gift is always free. There is no free gift. Should write just the word free or the word gift.😅😊
A good point well made! 😂
Worth every penny 👌
Glad you said most expensive and not most valuable.
To this day, I still remember that I had such a green one when I was a child :)
I didn't think you really cared much about variations. Anyways, that's a very decent price for such a minty example .
I guess you will have to start saving up again.
Shout out to KC and Cess in Tazzy!
His customs are always spot on ❤
Thankyou very much Mike ❤🙏🍻🇦🇺🤝🇳🇿👍
I collect for over 55 years and could never spend that on a 1/64
There was an old turnstile countertop type display they (individual boxes) used to fit in. Where can anybody find it? I don't collect the cars but I want one. Great memory from my childhood.
I have two green ones.
Didn’t know there were different varieties.

Every time I see the matchbox logo I think of snickers /marathon and every time I see the snickers /marathon logo I think of matchbox. 🤔
Well I hope you’re happy with all of those nice cars. Not all of us get to have nice things such as yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself. You share right now! 😂 it’s my turn to play cars. No, really like what your doing keep up the cool videos.
I have paid that kind of money but for LE 1/43 scale.
Tell the seller to send a replacement horse.
The red car, think I had a green and a blue, want to say the doors opened on both.
Now how about a smash up derby, old school yeah
That’s how every session used to end! 😂
My Father died a few years ago and had about 200 matchbox cars. All are in their original boxes. I know nothing about matchbox cars and would like to sell them. Where can I get them valued and sell them on to someone who would appreciate them?
I got one of them trailers with horse
I'd want to be able to drive it for that price.
Seller probably just wanted peace of mind that you had received it ok and it hadn't been delivered to someone else.
Can I ask what the value of the silver one would be boxed please
Hi William, values change over time and depending on location. U.S only variations are harder to get hold of in other countries therefore more expensive, for example. The easiest way to nail down an accurate value is to do a search for any given car on eBay but use the ‘sold’ filter. I had a green one as a kid
Congrats but there is also a turqois dark green one with opening doors
And now that you’ve told me, I need it more than anything!😂
Qué raro y bonito! ,🤩🇪🇦
WOW!!! 😳
Send that horse to the glue factory and haul dirt bikes!
It's weird how someone comes up with the value of the most random things.
Everything else packaged perfectly, but the horse was left to rattle around its trailer to the point legs snapped off in transit. 🤷♂
It's only worth 99 cents if you are lucky
I have one of those , , and its just like that ,.,
👍👍
Mate what did the wife say lol
i have a turquoise colour matchbox
javelin if your interested. : )
What do you call a gift that's not free? 😛
My dad has 25 of these in his collection
