If you met my uncle he'd definitely talk you into letting go of atleast 1 car. He's sold traded and collected hot wheels for atleast 30 years now. In fact being born in the early 90's in the late 2000's I gave him all my hot wheels I played with. I had an entire 30 gallon garbage bag full it was heavy as hell not to mention I gave him all the ones I had collected still in box 😂 kinda mad I did that now. Also sold him all my micro machines 😭😭

I'm 76 yrs old and accumulated almost 400 Hot Wheels and I've only been addicted for a few months. Since I'm home-bound my trips to the store are very rare due to me not being allowed to drive any longer. Just gazing at my collection is like therapy. It helps me relax and transfer me to a different place where I can smile continuously.

I'm 56 years old and I love my hot wheels collection.I've done a big no no and that's the fact that most of my collection I took them out of the bubble wrap but that's because I want to hold them and check them out.I never started collecting as an investment I collect them for the love of cars.

It would’ve been a big no no to not open them. I’m 53 and I still collect, I even have the ones I had from when I was a kid. I used to be adamant about not opening them and now I wished I would’ve opened them sooner. I don’t collect based on value either, what’s funny is that the only ones I keep carded are the mainlines that I get. My RLC Exclusives, convention, or nationals castings all go in my display cabinets I have one the wall. Those or my more rare castings are all in displays that have clear doors on them. My STHs and Premiums all go in my open displays on the walls. I enjoy looking and being able to feel what it takes to make a HW. I’m not a cardboard and plastic collector anymore 😂. One thing that I did learn from opening them is that from them sitting so long in the blisters, it ruins some of them. All the pieces that may had a small rubber band holding a piece down or like a surfboard in place, the rubber band actually meshed into the paint. I had original Real Riders still carded and tires were cracking to where small pieces were falling off. I’ve always keep my collection away from any types of elements like moisture or heat and away from humidity. Some of my more favorite castings were starting to discolor on the side that was against the card itself. Well sorry for the long comment, and happy collecting

that's one of the most amazing collections I have ever seen. The Pink Beach bomb is a sight to witness. You think it's a myth until you actually a collector who owns one. That and many of the other foreign Hot Wheels memorabilia. I would love to see that Red Lines collection up close. I have a couple Red Lines, but since those are way out of my league price point I decided to collect the series Hot Wheels named First Editions that ran from mid 90's to 2005. I don't have them all, but I'm working on it.

I grew up in the neighborhood next to El Segundo, the home town of Mattel, and in the late 1990s my brother in law was one of the vice presidents of Mattel. He gave me a couple of rare cars but my sister has some very rare Barbie dolls that he gave her.
But, my favorite thing is I got to work at Mattel in around 2012 or 2013. I'm an electrician and a friend I grew up with is the electrical contractor for all the work at Mattel offices etc... . I got to work inside one of the buildings where there were display cases all over the place with prototypes and drawings of Hot Wheels. But the coolest part was spending two work days working next to the full-size versions of the Twinmill and the Red Baron Hot Wheels. Unfortunately there was no photos allowed to be taken and there was always a security guard with us while we worked, otherwise I would have taken some photos.
I'm 58 years old, so born in 1965, I am definetly a Hot Wheels kid. My brother and I owned hundreds of feet of track and probably a hundred cars during our childhood. I still have a few in storage in a box but most had been played with so much they got destroyed one way or another.
I wish I still had those cars.

It's all fake for the most part.

One minor correction. The box that is described as a "printer's proof" is likely not. It's still special, just not unusual. Every sheet off of the press run would have had the CMYK swatches and various targets that the pressman used to ensure fit/registration, color match, etc. Most proofing would have been completed and signed off on prior to the press run and the pressman would color match to that proof. Unless there are signatures or other official approval on the sheet it is likely just one sheet pulled from the overall run.

I'm having difficulty understanding why Hot Wheels are more valuable inside of unopened packaging? Can anyone explain? Seems silly to have a toy that's not played with, too.

Condition. An unopened product in new condition is worth more due to it's condition. Used cars are the same way. The lower the mileage, the better the condition, the more valuable.

@@getoutndrive That does make sense. I have a close friend Hot Wheels collector & he's told me there are some who open the packaging, believing their display looks better sans the package. He says some even roll them around on track, though carefully with valuable cars. I think I might be one of those! There's fireworks collectors who insist on lighting valuable fireworks, too. I'm just getting started in that world.

It’s obviously impossible to collect what you like because everything I see there I like, but as being as real as I am, I don’t have the money to spend but the collection that I do have and admire is worth to me just the same. Sadly your cameraman focused on nothing of the subject but nice video overall. It’s a beautiful hobby just sad that it has be so expensive that a child can’t even afford it to play with them 😞

It truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit. We did our best to get both the history and a good general overview of the entire collection. I wish we had time to share in more detail! Thanks for watching.

Very interesting but I want to see the cars not the guys talking about them.Terrible camera work and direction as the cars are the stars, not these two men.

Wtf?! Show the stuff you're displaying and talking about up close! I can certainly listen to what is being said while a camera is showing what's being spoken about! Idc to constantly see you guys talk, i wanna see the shit up close!!
