Hard to believe that this song was written in 1874 by a wonderful composer by the name of Stephen C Foster. As far as I’m concerned it is the most beautiful song that I have ever heard. To Mr Foster and to who ever revived this song there are no words to convey my gratitude.❤️❤️❤️
A truly excellent performance of the song, accompanied by a lovely arrangement as well. Asking a crowd to act impressed is easy when music this splendid lavishes the ears!
My favorite version is from the Stephen Foster biopic from 1952 sung by the perennially under-acclaimed Bill Shirley. Bill's finest moment- tragically unheralded- was dubbing "On the Street Where You Live" in the classic "My Fair Lady". Jeremey Brett for decades claimed the voice was his own before finally admitting it was dubbed. By then Bill had passed.

I love this song
If you like this version you should hear Sheryl Crow sing it acapella - it will blow your mind.
Does anyone now who actually played violin on that? It was perfection and made that song even more beautiful than it already is!
