Thirty plus years I feared for my safety like many women, and my honour and self-esteem didn't disappear because I had a legion of helpers,relatives included, there helping me,praying for me and loving me( women and men). Love this song One shot. If there is violence in your home speak to your family. If there is an Addiction problem--- seek counselling and ask family to help. Many men and women won't speak to their families for help and support. Addicts use until they use up all the goodwill of family and friends. Partners or not using in any way is wrong. There is help available for spouses who are victims of violence and abuse. Remember that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. If you're sick and tired of being abused speak to your Dr and healthcare professional and ask for help. I'm alive cause of a miracle. I was saved because i beleive I was a good person, but needed to work on my life. And truth that everyone whose born was born innocent. What they become is another matter. If you've caused violence towards another person there is help for you too. You need to remember that you can't make a deal with God. Women and men who abuse their spousesmentally and/or physically only need look as far as their doctors office for referral to a healthcare facility that offers therapy and help to end the Hell,the shame, and fear of running ,and trying to control others and using everyone that's good in their lives. Darkness goes when the light at the end of the tunnel appears. Whatever life force that created us meant us to all live in ☮️. Power absolute corrupts absolutely. Letting go of past hurts,old hurts and getting professional help works. Reality is life is good when you live well,love well and treat others well. None of us are saints but we do know the difference between right and wrong. Admitting when we're wrong is the first step, making amends comes next. Forgiveness comes from those that forgive but it also comes with the promise to remember that ones been forgiven.
Tin Machine was an important band for Bowie in that it took him out of the more mainstream arena pop/rock of the mid to late 80's, to something a bit more artsy/edgy/experimental. I think he carried that vibe till his passing.
I love the second album. First one had a ragged energy; second one was more nuanced. Both were great and truly underrated. And the band was critical to Bowie’s revival as an artist. But I wish Ton Machine had continued on longer.
Saw Tin Machine at the Palladium. Surreal. 300 people in the audience, you could walk right up to the stage. Imagine Tin Machine playing at a wedding -- that is what it was like. Loved this edgier change of direction after his "Let's Dance" era.

I was there. Bought my tickets right out of the gate. Wouldn't have missed it. Think half the crowd were at the upstairs (backstage) bar. Industry show. Only time Bowie didn't sell out in LA. Figured most ppl were to lame to know TM was Bowie. Didn't know they had to paper the room w/ tix. That's pretty sad. It was great and Amazing to see Bowie at a small hall.
Gosh thanks, saw them live in Offenbach/Germany in 1990. Pretty little concert that was, very intimate. Great short trip that Tin Machine was. Great inspiration every day.
Man, I miss David. He is so intelligent, talented, creative, artistic, funny, his voice is beautiful, he's beautiful. I look forward to seeing the release of Moonage Daydream. It is the only Bowie movie I would see as he narrarates and it is him performing his music. I was blessed to see him 5 times and I would never want to watch someone trying to portray him...because ya just can't. His presence just can't be reproduced.
Tin Machine is due for the critical reappraisal. You can draw a line from Tin Machine to ‘Black Star’ It was Bowie & Gabrels & The Sales Bros. (pre) figuring Grunge’s total takeover in the 90s And they just f*ckin’ rocked man!
Okay, as most of you probably have noticed, this was a mimed performance but the audio aside, there's more visual clues too. David is playing the same strumming style throughout the song but it's different from what he played on the song itself. Reeves is barely touching his guitar and his ever present and very extensive pedal board, which is an essential part of his sound, isn't anywhere to be seen . Note also that his amp is a BASS amp. See the black "skins" on the drums? Those are dampening pads, you can whack them as hard as you like but there's no sound. Note also that there's an actual cup of coffee on the floor tom.

Agree. I actually love the first Tin Machine album, there's some great tracks on it. The problem I think most people had with them was that they were very up and down when it came to performing live. They could be great one night and a total disaster the next, as probably happens with a lot of bands, but people don't expect a bad performance from Bowie

I saw Tin Machine live at Brixton academy on the 2nd album tour, it was my 1st ever live concert! Take out the drummer's 2 songs where he sings & the 2nd album is good!
There's an interview where Bowie explains about all kinds of shit going wrong with the band's gigs. As usual, changes were part of who he was.He stayed with Gabriel's for about 10 years though

They always felt like square pegs in a round hole to me. I think it says a lot that he sorted the proverbial wheat from the chaff, kept Reeves and moved on putting as much distance between him and the brothers as possible. I seem to remember hearing they were more than a little problematic - over-estimating their importance would be putting it mildly.
I only ever had one criticism about Bowie. It’s not the albums Tonight or Never Let Me Down or Tin Machine. This is really pedantic but it’s that he pierced his ear! It’s always really bothered me. Other than that, I think he was a genius.....sometimes. Most of the time. I was so in love with him as a 14/15 year old. Growing up in a shitty industrial town in the eighties he was my escape. And partly responsible for my life from 22 - 48. So for that I’m eternally grateful. Thank you Mr. Jones.

Tin Machine, this was my favorite Bowie period, Fabulous live performances but no commercial success.
One Shot, which is my favorite song on the second album, seems like it is dubbed in this rehearsal footage. Why would they do that if this was only a rehearsal? Anyway, any footage with Bowie in this positive mood is good footage. He was inspired and happy being part of this band.
I was at that show. When Simply Red arrived at the venue nobody took notice since there were only Bowie fans. He was annoyed by that. My then girlfriend caught a Reeves Gabrels plectrum which she lost 1 week later… TM also messed up signing a guitar for some auction for a good cause when they started to draw buttons on the acoustic model. It was a fun evening!
I think they weren't aware of that Australian show, when this countdown first aired in the late seventies there was no such thing as internet. And most Dutch watchers of the show weren't aware of the Australian show either.

Like the sound of Tin Machine and their music is incomparable to other rockbands that are out there doing their best. I think that they're really good at letting it Roll... Oneshot is like a wake up call for those out there that beleive in true love and have experienced trauma in a relationship and found it hard to part ways and let go of negativity, and adversity. I honestly don't think the problem with Tin Machine was Tin Machine. The problem was the 90s- those two albums are a clear sign post to what was '90s rock'. Either way, it's much better than the previous two albums!
It was common practice those days to have bands mime their performance, as many legendary Top of the pops footage will also show. The reason was to cut down, pre-production and have one artist after the other perform without line checks, sound checks and so.

The first Tin Machine album was brilliant. The second more uneven, but "Goodbye Mr Ed" is one of Bowie's best songs ever.

His vocal is live, we hear someone at the start ask for the mics to be turned on and Bowie takes the piss, using his laughing gnome voice at times

not sure where the drums came from (playback? - the crash at 7.32 is simply not played), but I liked them, especially "Amlapura" is still good.
skyreader society there's a lot of synth in the mix too, plus bowies own backing vocals.
It was common practice those days to have bands mime their performance, as many legendary Top of the pops footage will also show.
The reason was to cut down, pre-production and have one artist after the other perform without line checks, sound checks and so.
