The fact of the matter is Johnny and his first wife were never suited and they barely knew each other when they got married. You don’t marry someone based on letters, you marry someone after spending loads of time with them and truly getting to know them.

Johnny is the one who made a vow to Vivian and broke it. June didn’t wreck Johnny’s marriage, Johnny did with her callous and reckless behavior Ideally, marriages would last forever, but not all marriages are based on intimacy and compatibility. People grow apart or just aren’t suited and their children suffer for it. Ultimately, if the affair hadn’t ended Johnny’s marriage the incompatibility would have. No one is condoning infidelity. You can dislike the behavior and not hate the person. None of us are perfect and I just don’t feel comfortable passing judgment on people. Of course, I happened to be a fan of June Carter. If you know anything about her life, you know she had her fair share of suffering too. If you think she didn’t endure her own bouts of guilt and shame, you’re wrong. As for myself, I have been with the same man for 28 years and we are still going strong. It is both the first and last marriage for each of us
I loved the ORIGINAL, Saturday Night GRAND OLE OPRY from 1955 on PBS, that was on the old black and white, BLURRY film, antenna TV Show. Carl Smith, Webb Pierce, Rod Brasfield, Marty Robbins, Ferlin Husky, Faron Young, Kitty Wells, "FUNNY" "Minnie Pearl" and "June Carter" chasing after most of the male singers. I wish PBS would put those Shows back on again even though the black and white film is blurred. The SOUND was great! I tried to find June Carter-Cash on the Ralph Emery Show telling about her book;; From the Heart 1989. She told a little about all the trouble Johnny Cash was getting into and she started out with a REGULAR SIZE Bible and would keep hitting him over the HEAD with it, HOPING some of the Bible would SINK IN HIS HEAD. Each time he got into MORE trouble she used a BIGGER [and bigger, and bigger and bigger] Bible. The audience laughed so hard. Don't know if that was a "true" story, but "F U N N Y"! I think "funny" was in her DNA. No mater what she says, there is a "FUNNY" PUNCH LINE in there. :) :)
They need to put these old fashion gospel radio shows on, bring them back, they digitally remaster all of the devil's stuff, that's why this country is gradually going down the tubes, too much praise of twerking, sexual innuendos and depravity, families don't share home gospel programming anymore.SMDH

This Politically Correctness is a mystery to me. I was raised: "If you DON'T have anything nice/good to say about a thing OR person, DON'T say anything at all." In 1956 when John met June on the Opry (while married to Vivian) he told June that he was going to marry her. At the time June was in the process of divorcing her first husband who cheated on her. June did not and I repeat DID NOT chase Cash at all. John chased June for over 10 years and after Vivian divorced John in 1967, he asked June to marry him on stage in 1968 and she "FINALLY" after over 11 years of knowing him said YES. I'm convinced God sent June and her wonderful family (Mother Maybelle and her husband Ezra Carter)to help save Mr. Cash from himself and his addictions that were killing him. June was one of the sweetest friendliest people that ever lived and would of never married Mr Cash if her first husband wouldn't of cheated on her. Some of you should be ashamed of yourself.
