I would add.. if you want to do this on your holiday and you get a sunny couple of days take that opportunity and go. It is frequently cloudy in Rio and often will rain… If it rains the trail can be dangerous / closed and sometimes if there is heavy rain the trail might be closed in the days after too.
Very true! Check weather before. This trail is well maintained but I wouldn’t like to descend it in darkness and rain

Have you hiked Pedra da Gavea? If so, how do they compare?
I have so far passed Gavea. It’s much tougher on body and mind - that’s why I say Dois Irmãos has the best payoff for effort. View from Gavea is insane, but a little other part of Rio

Unrelated but which is better in vacation Praia de Pipa or Buzios?
Búzios is right there next to Rio, whereas Pipa is a flight + bus ride away. But strictly on paper Pipa wins by some distance ☀️
