It's really an amazing place, isn't it? I am brazillian and was born and raised in Barra. Now I still live in Rio, but in a place next to it called Recreio. After my mother died last year I moved to Recreio, but I still dream about moving back to Barra and living in a luxury apartment like the ones I used to. I hope that I may live there after I finish College.
Agreed i lived in Barra Da Tijuca for 6 months for training MMA, it is the absolute best for safety and relaxing without worrying about getting robbed. and it is truly beautiful!

I am currently living in brazil And Barra is my favorite area for now. because when I visited there I felt so safety like europe or korea. Even there were many people who can speak english fluently. so I can easily get a help through conversation in english. but one time, while I was walking on the street with my bf in barra da tijuca, one robbery guy approached us and asked to give a money. thankfully there was nothing serious happen but I could realize that even in barra da tijuca, we can't sure safety. But definitely it's much safer than other areas and well managed overall. Except safety matter in rio, Rio is so so amazing place 💚💚

These are great videos well done. i love Brazil but the 3x times I visited I witness crazy crime going on, it's really crazy but worth visiting just be careful. I lived there for two years 2019-2021, that place is truly the safest in Rio and cleanest. You will see lot of musicans and tv personalities in that area.
It is a tough choice to make between staying in Ipanema or Barra da Tijuca. Both are great areas of Rio. Either area will be a nice escape from the rough Chicago winters.

I have been to Barra da tijuca as i stayed in recreio dos bandeirantes. People should visit Rio de janeiro and Lisbon Portugal and make their opinion. I visited the beaches in Lisbon called carcavelos up to cascais. Next time i will visit costa da caparica and see the beach clubs. Beach club irmao. Both cities have the Cristo statue. Lots of partying, drinking in Lisbon and eating out in the streets. So far i asked 5 people which is better. 3 Brazilians, 1 Portuguese and a Canadian. They all prefered Lisbon then Rio de janeiro. Thats a surprise. Crime rate is low in Lisbon.
Yes, Lisbon is an awesome city! But it’s a little unfair to compare it to Rio. It’s more of a typical historical Mediterranean city. In many ways more like Barcelona… or a coastal Rome. Love em both! 🇧🇷🇵🇹
@@SwedishGringo I know that, like them both but Lisbon wins i think on the low crime rate, relaxed atmosphere and the you dont need to travel far to all the bars and clubs. Lapa and olegario macial are far part for the party scenes far apart. This is the opinions i got from the last 5 people who chose Lisbon that they will choose Lisbon. Both cities have christ statues. Beaches, Lisbon has more trams and and tuk tuk rickshaws. Olegario macial i think is much safer then lapa. Lisbon has more tourists compared to Rio. Rio has about 5 million tourist and Lisbon 18 million per year. Rio is bigger. I believe most people will choose Lisbon because they will feel walking around comfortably without be scared of being robbed. When i left London for lisbon i asked Portuguese man on the plane what city is better, Rio or Lisbon. He looked at me and said are you being serious. Lisbon of course. He spent 2 years in Rio and had his car stolen he told me. I want people to visit both cities and make their decision.

The middle class moved out to Barra a decade ago , and turmed their Copacabana and Ipanema places into Airbnb rentals . It's got a bit of a Bolsanaro vibe sometimes , unfortunately, but its easily the safest part of Rio . Highly recommend staying there for first time visitors . Ubers are very cheap for day tripping to other parts of the city
Depends on how much you plan to spend😅 Entrance is 20 dollars and drinks around 10-12 dollars. For taxi you use Uber. You’ll get a decent club night for 70 dollars 🥂🕺

Since Barra da Tijuca is not a walkable neighborhood (it was planned to be similar to an American neighborhood), it can be very dangerous to walk by yourself. Leblon, Ipanema and Urca in my opinion are the safest places in Rio

What’s up dog!💎 Good news: what you are referring to would be … EVERYWHERE! Brazilians don’t do that age discrimination thing, you are always welcome no matter how old you are. On the beach, at the party … anywhere. The reason some beach areas are a bit more uniform rather has to do with style and interest (and sometimes sexuality). The young tend to hang close to the beach bar action. If you’re 80 and like pounding music they’ll be cheering when you join in 🎶
Sorry man, but Barra does not represent Rio de Janeiro and has no historical background, with all touristic points inserted there in south zone! Only a long beach line, avenues with no corners or even a bar to get a easy beer and socialize, only malls everywere, u need car for everything. In fact, u do everything inside malls in a culture that reminds "the american way of life" surrounded for sub celebrities and a Liberty Statue in a huge mall, a fake Miami. If u want to understand the difference btw South Zone and Barra u should go at night in Olegário Maciel street and day after to Dias Ferreira street and i'm pretty sure truth will be revealed.

The middle class moved out to Barra a decade ago , and turmed their Copacabana and Ipanema places into Airbnb rentals . It's got a bit of a Bolsanaro vibe sometimes , unfortunately, but its easily the safest part of Rio . Highly recommend staying there for first time visitors . Ubers are very cheap for day tripping to other parts of the city
Yes, Barra is a very good option. If not just to try a different flavor of Rio 🇧🇷💖

Depends on how much you plan to spend😅 Entrance is 20 dollars and drinks around 10-12 dollars. For taxi you use Uber. You’ll get a decent club night for 70 dollars 🥂🕺

Not so many hotels in Barra so Airbnb would be best. You would do okay with 100 euro but the two of you will not live like royalty

Since Barra da Tijuca is not a walkable neighborhood (it was planned to be similar to an American neighborhood), it can be very dangerous to walk by yourself. Leblon, Ipanema and Urca in my opinion are the safest places in Rio
It’s definately not practical at least: distances are great in Barra. But the main bar street is totally walkable at night without safety concerns 🥂

The reason some beach areas are a bit more uniform rather has to do with style and interest (and sometimes sexuality). The young tend to hang close to the beach bar action. If you’re 80 and like pounding music they’ll be cheering when you join in 🎶

Sorry man, but Barra does not represent Rio de Janeiro and has no historical background, with all touristic points inserted there in south zone! Only a long beach line, avenues with no corners or even a bar to get a easy beer and socialize, only malls everywere, u need car for everything. In fact, u do everything inside malls in a culture that reminds "the american way of life" surrounded for sub celebrities and a Liberty Statue in a huge mall, a fake Miami. If u want to understand the difference btw South Zone and Barra u should go at night in Olegário Maciel street and day after to Dias Ferreira street and i'm pretty sure truth will be revealed.
