I actually own the Harley Benton TE-20 Tele (in midnight blue). I bought it just for fun with a lot of skepticism, but lemme tell you, this thing is so so good for a guitar that’s only 79 quid. I love it so much. The pickups aren’t the most dynamic but the rest is amazing. The wood is incredibly light and resonant, also gorgeous selection of maple with beautiful wood grain. The tuners are actually really good as well, and stay perfectly in tune. I rarely tune it and I’ve have it since June. I cannot express enough how good it is. It easily beats any squier imo. (Except the classic vibe since I haven’t tried those).

A great choice! I have one in red blast. The pickups and playability are fantastic, but it is immensely heavy. It just may be a perfect for a Gibson fan, such as Glenn.

I bought a HB a year or two ago (Fusion T) and I was really liking it. After a while though I just realized the neck shape was a little too thick for me, and even after I leveled all the frets some buzz came back in inconsistent places. I am not sure if the wood just dried and the frets moved, or if the neck was twisted. I did mod up the guitar and flipped it and used that cash to get a squire tele. I am sure at the lower end like this it is just luck of the draw but, the tele plays much better but, of course the pickups were microphonic so I had to swap them out so still wasn’t perfect.
Yeah, I'd bet they save a bit of money by "skimping" on the QC, so as you said, luck of the draw. Some are really good, and some have a few issues, but for an entry level guitar they seem excellent.

Here's my theory why K called it wrong (but close): Because this is a gift. If you spend your own money you get exactly what you want. But if someone else foots the bill you may buy something you wouldn't ordinarily do but that is cool, maybe even a novelty. Because, why not?

I have the Tele TE - 70 Rosewood Deluxe from HB at 160€. It almost looks completely black on the pictures, but in person it has a very nice top and back rosewood grain, (like the George Harrison Rosewood Tele) and with the matching headstock too, and double body binding. It looks so cool and it's a cool guitar. I changed the pickups and it rocks !! Hope the Blasted Emo Tele will be fine too !!
Starts are dorky tho especially the blue and red ones! They just make me think of the ones you'd see in the corner of a teenage boys room in a tv show that's bern unplayed for years or a surfer guy's guitar

On the subject of Harley Bentons, be careful when you buy. I got a brand new one and so did my brother and I had to immediately do a complete fret dress on both just to make them playable. Not to mention the electronics both came with were pure crap and had to be completely replaced. Sure you get what you're paying for, but be aware that if you pay a ridiculously low sum of money for something you are likely to get ridiculously low quality. I still don't think we got ripped off, mind you. Both guitars are perfectly good now. The actual wood parts are worth the money on their own, honestly. But everything else was fit only for the bin. Don't buy one, especially online, and expect you're going to get something perfect right off the bat. You might, but you might get a lemon too. It's a risk.
I’m always fascinated with the way you and your friends seem to think about guitar looks / styles. I wonder is it something about where your from ? Or what.
How in the world is a Strat or Tele a dorky dad rock guitar but a Les Paul or ES style isn't? They are literally all from the same era of guitars. That makes no sense.
I had a HB35 plus a few years ago, it was junk. Not only did it have a ton of microphonic feedback and bad playability. They took 7 months to ship and and then I had surprise extra customs charges. I know that it's not the case here, but it drives me crazy when I see RUclips shills claim harley bentons are as good as high end guitars.

Once you get used to a reverse headstock, they are great. Heaps easier to do quick tuning adjustments with the left hand on the fly.
