Before watching, I gotta say, Glen is like the exact opposite of me as a guitarists Haha! I still enjoy the videos because it's clear you guys are good friends with good chemistry and that's really enjoyable.
@@caiusmadison2996 Burny is fernandes; you’re thinking of Orville, which is literally Gibson japan. Burny, Greco, and Edwards LPs are “lawsuit” versions of Les Pauls and use the same dimensions, but different types of paint and different hardware
@@caiusmadison2996No, it's not - luckily ;) And in my opinion a Burny is far preferable over a Gibson - they are seriously well built (better than G), a *LOT* cheaper, Burny's play and sound great (I've yet to see a bad one...), and they really hold their value if you would sell it later on.
You guys are amazing friends. Way to follow through on your promise. I’m sure Glenn will keep his Ibanez lawsuit guitar forever - it’s really cool! Enjoy it, mate! Looking forward to seeing you play it on stage and hearing you make killer music with it! The hair thing will also never die, lol. I ❤ seeing you guys hang and do guitar stuff cause it’s always a fun watch!
I got a Burny LP last year with a Fernandes sustainer fitted from factory. It's a great sounding and playing guitar. Congratulations on your new guitar Glen.
I'm 65 next month. Started playing guitar when I was 10... summer of '69. I was a teen in the 70's. I had the waist long straight hair. Played an Ibanez Deluxe 59'er in white, into a 210 Traynor.. I really like watching you guys. You take me back to my youth. I still have the guitars and amps I used back in the day (plus a lot more). I still play loud. I like your playing, both of you. Enjoy yourselves guys!! Rock on gentlemen. Thanx Steve
As an Epiphone Sheraton owner, don't sleep on that as just "the Epiphone version of the 335." It has its own mojo, and it feels better put together than the 335 Dot "inspired by Gibson."
As a Gibson snob myself I can confirm. I started out on a epiphone ES-335 pro and now own a 59 Murphy lab ES-355. The epiphones are amazing and play great, even more so now. I played a current epiphone Sheraton and it played great. Felt not difference than the Gibson, besides the poly feel which I personally don’t like but is more than manageable. Also the pickups diffently sounded weak but for that price point it’s more than worthy to be a main guitar, especially with how well it played and how easy it was to go up and down the fretboard/bends etc. don’t believe Gibson is “better”, yes they do feel high quality etc but we’re talking 6-8K vs $500-$800 for an amazing epiphone
@@Tweed_Tone eventually I'm gonna throw in some higher end pickups but I don't have the skill to do it myself nor the money to pay an expert. Semi-hollows are tricky.
335 dot is not "inspired by Gibson" though. Dot is the line that was replaced with "inspired by Gibson". Dot sucks. But I agree with your statement, sheraton then "inspired by Gibson" then dot, is how I'd arrange it.
Brilliant video! I very much enjoyed watching you guys "keepin' it real" shopping for a reasonably priced guitar. Cheers to Glen on the new guitar! I have a lot of respect for you helping out a brother get an instrument that he got to try before buying. It's refreshing to see the generosity and the act of going to local shops to purchase. Being an "old man" I might have chosen the 335...😂 and local shops were the way I grew up buying all music gear. Cheers from Canada
Burny as a guitar company can make there les paul models as close to gibson and Gibson cant do much about it trademark wise. Gibson attempted to sue burny awhile ago and the court ruled in Burny guitars favor, stating gibson waited to long to file a lawsuit against Burny for trademark agreement. The judge basically said "Guitar players know how to read and they wont be fooled by a headstock that say Burny."
Hi KDH. It's been great following your content and seeing your subscriber numbers grow. Best wishes with the band and youtube and keep bringing us great news from the guitar world!!
I didn’t set out to become a ‘Gretsch fanboy’ but I have three of them now that more or less span their total price range ($450, $800, $3800) and I love every one of them. Don’t know why they don’t get more love. They really do make some great instruments. And yeah, they will 100% shred!
I can confirm. I have an epi sg classic worn with p90s and the Matt Heafy origins 7 and they are both absolutely absolutely amazing sounding and playing. Minor adjustments needed out of the box, but they were things I do on every guitar I buy. Level, crown and polish the frets if needed, adjust truss rod and put new strings on it. Then they were perfect.
I loved this video. I saw it in one sitting when it came out. I'll be unable to buy guitars for a long time now and this one does the dopamine and the comtemplation for me. Thank you and Glen for this. Also, so cool to have a friend who buys something so personal and expensive as a guitar. Good luck out there, guys!
This isn't to say that your other content isn't wholesome, but something about this video is just so spectacularly wholesome and fun that it brings a smile to my face 😊
Those hollow Gretschs sing. The pickups are very flexible, stylistically. I had a Gretach 2420T for a short time, and one of the first songs I played on it was Enter Sandman. It had issues though, so I returned it to the store. Issues from the store and player abuse, I'd say, not the manufacturer. The local Guitar Center is terrible. I ordered a G5222 in Ocean Turquoise from Sweetwater instead. Absolutely love it.
