      Day 3 battling him 😂 usually you just find the Pokémon that’s super effective against the gym leader you’re battling . This time I decided to play with weaklings. Wattson has beaten me about 20times this feels like how gym battles should be not the usual 1 hit KO because you used a Pokémon that is super effective against electric types . I like this way better way more challenging !!

    I really have to say, you make excellent content. Love your videos, keep up the great work.
    Best Pokétuber imo.

    Wattson's Voltorb Self-Destructing was the end of the original Nuzlocke.

    One thing that I feel could've potentially been mentioned (I don't know if it was specifically or not in this video) is that Geodude resists Voltorb's self destruct, with only Aron and Sableye being better at taking it due to 4x resistance and immunity respectively. This makes Geodude the best option offensively and simultaneously defensively against Wattson's team; it even gets the flamethrower TM mentioned in the video if you feel particularly crazy (I wouldn't recommend it, though). On a side note, I think that if you're talking about ruby/sapphire rather than emerald, Combuskin is a lot better since it easily takes out his Magnemite and Magneton with it's STABs, and no Manectric means you really only need to worry about Voltorb blowing up in your face; it's still not better than Marshtomp by any stretch (but nothing besides Geodude even comes close to being as good here, let's be real), but it's definitely a marked improvement over playing emerald

    Recently beat Wattson on an Emerald nuzlocke. All of my Pokemon exclusively had moves that Magneton resisted (I didn't start with Mudkip) .The only exception was a Loudred I got from the Whismur cave, who could learn Flamethrower as a TM from the game corner. It still couldn't do enough damage to kill Magneton, so I had Shedinja set up Double Team on his Electrike, killed that, and then had it chip Magneton while dodging Supersonic until I could switch in Lourded and kill it from about half HP.
    It made me understand why Shedinja is often banned, but I really couldn't think of another way to beat Magneton (let alone the rest of his pokemon) without it. As cheese as it was I still came up with the strat on my own, and since Shedinja was still in danger of getting confused and hitting itself, I wasn't too upset about it.

    This is a great guide to beat Wattson! I would love to see Winona as well.
    Shedinja can also be hit by supersonic by the way. I’ve had that happen to me, luckily not in a Nuzlocke, but in a Ninjask and Shedinja only run

    Just a couple of things to clarify for people coming from more recent gens: Selfdestruct halves defense during damage calculations so it's effectively 400 base power, Rock Smash is only 20 base power (so it should only be used for the defense drop chance, damage is terrible) and Steel types resist Dark and Ghost.
    Also, if using Shedinja, keep it away from Magneton. It's only a 27.5% chance but if Supersonic hits and you get confused, Shedinja is gone. It can be incredible in many fights, it would be really stupid to lose it like that.

    Actually my "foolproof" magneton strategy involves loudred and any ground-type/shedinja.
    Switch between Loudred and the ground-type. Loudred absorbs sonic boom with its"soundproof" and the ground-type/shedinja is immune to shockwave.
    When those pp are used up you may even set up howls or bulk ups. You just need to be aware of the amount of screeches because Manectric has quick attack.

    Is this the first of the series? If it is, I really think you should start with the first gym, just to be in order. Non the less, great video. Keep it up!

    I thunk there's a strategy that you sort of glossed over that requires.... some heartlessness. The strategy sac on magneton. I usually get a magnetic or plusle/minun. Switch them in on magneton. Cheri the t wave. Hit it with their own twave while tanking a sonicboom or 2nd t wave. Then pound on him with whatever you've got to lower its defenses, like Leer or rock smash ect. Even sand attack. I know he has shock wave but that's sometimes less harmful than a t wave or supersonic. Sac the extra little electric type. Bring in a healthy mon on a prz and weakened magneton. It's a world of difference.

    watching this video for my vanilla run where I grabbed Treecko as my starter. I got hosed the first time cause I was underleveled. The second time I leveled up to the cap, but instead of the Voltorb, Electricke, Magneton, Manectric order - his Manectric came third and his Magneton came last and totally cucked my strategy. The only reason I beat him the third time was cause of Hariyama and its insane health stat. Video is def great and as someone who had mid to bad encounters, I say the tier list checks out

    I know Magneton resists a lot, but it’s Steel typing is redundant because it doesn’t learn any attacking Steel moves in RSE

      That is true, it's a coverage nightmare on the offensive side. You just gotta pick up Hidden Power and hope that it hits a good type and base power

    Though shedinja is really good against wattson its very slow and voltorb has rollout and magneton has supersonic so would be carefull if i used shedinja.

    Should you really equip hariyama with a cheri berry? The static will activate guts and vital throw goes last anyway?

      That's a really good point! I guess it would depend if the boost would enable the 1-shot. I would assume it would at that point.

    I keep hearing you say, "if you didn't ban them". So do you just make your own rules? Or is there a set rule for max Nuzzy

    • @grumpygengar22
      @grumpygengar22  Год назад

      Yeah for Nuzlockes there are a fairly standard set of base rules, and then you can customize it however you want from there!

    • @grumpygengar22
      @grumpygengar22  Год назад +1

      Did I miss him? I wouldn't say he's particularly useful on Wattson with his low special bulk and base stats. He might be able to dish out an attack or two though before you'd have to switch.
