    Dear Addy. I changed the modules again and more carefully with the connections of the small cables of the module, I restarted the toys and everything worked perfectly like your tutorial. I am happy to have succeeded and to save your precious time. I have no idea why it happened wrong. I only did it again for you to have the conviction that everything with you happened without even the control asking for an upgrade. The curious thing for me was the fact that on the DJI website sell this module in P4P accessories. A warm hug and thank you for everything. Lets Fly !!!!

    Excellent information. I've been researching the possibilities of using phone/tablet and Goggles with the Phantom 4 for months. You cannot get the flight records from the goggles alone, you have to have the app running. This video answered all the questions the forums didn't. Thank you.

      You are welcome. this is a dated video 2017 but there is still a lot of DJI drones out there that use Lightbridge transmission and require cables. Glad information helped... Sorry for the poor edit.. I was still new to putting videos together then.

      Good afternoon. I appreciate it's a 3 year old video, but even after all this time, the question of extracting the flight data from the DJI Goggles is still an issue. Not many tablets have HDMI capabilities like the K1, which is no longer produced.
      Can I just ask 1 question please. If you use a dual USB splitter from the controller and connect one end to the goggles and the other to a phone/tablet, do you get a live view through the Goggles and be able to use the app on the phone?
      Well done again, still not much around on the internet answering the issue..

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  4 года назад

      @@gps-gps To be honest, I do not own a dual splitter USB cable and never tried. Concept is interesting but not sure of power is adequate for two devices. Would take some testing. I mostly use the Goggles now, which I have two sets, the regular white ones and the FPV version black ones with my DJI Mavic drones that use wireless Ocusync. I still fly the Phantom 4 and 4 Pro.... In September I finally get the Skydio 2 which I ordered last Nov. 2019....... Love the hobby and business.... How are you using the Goggles, do you have a split USB cable that you would test/try?

      @@gps-gps I have the RE version as well. I was gifted them from Kelly Shores at YT Channel "Ready Set Drone" for being subscriber of the month..... crazy nice gift..... they have the advantage of being also used for analog FPV goggles and comes with the antenna. Ready Set Drone is great source of information for FPV reviews and DJI drones.
      So what version of the P4p do you have ? V1 or V2?

Check out my other Goggles video about head tracking experience along with other videos I have made for this hobby I enjoy so much. Unfortunately, winter is upon us where I live and for the times I have the opportunity to fly, the chances are actually getting to go flying are reduced because of wind and cold temperatures. on another note, the Goggles actually work best for me when not too hot because they are a sweating machine in the hot weather. I have just added that module to my p4, it was very expensive to order as GJI had stopped selling them here. I had a lot of difficulty getting the HDMI adapter as they are not common in the UK, getting the goggles to be a clear screen was a case of trying all the buttons and controls to get it. I want it to give others a flight and yet see to able to control it myself. make your victim sit down as you move forward they tend to fall over otherwise.

    2 can you only use the micro lead for the camera head tracking and will the Phantom 4 also do drone tracking ie fly by moving your head.
    3 There are so many blogs out there saying the Phantom 4 will not do some of the things like tripod mode and others.can you please confirm what the Phantom 4 can do with the DJI goggles.

    Hi addy, received my HDMI module today from Amazon. Now it connects perfectly with the tablet as well as the dji goggles. It even shows the option of simultaneous output to HDMI and app. If I may request you to kindly mention in your review options that the third option is only viable if you have a remote with a HDMI module installed. Thank you once again.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  5 лет назад

      Hi, the third option is for a tablet that has HDMI output and it does not matter then it RC has the HDMI module installed or not installed. In the third option, only the USB is being used from module to tablet and then tablet to goggles. Hope that makes it more clear. Thanks for commenting and watching the video.DJI is moving away from wire connections as it complicates matters. The new Phantom 4 Pro V.2, the Mavic series included Mavic pro, Mavic 2 pro and Mavic 2 Zoom all are using Ocusync transmission which is all wifi based. But I will keep my P4p V.1 for now as the wires connections work for me.

      @@AddyOverbeeke hi Addy, I got your point the first time. I hope you try connecting your HDMI tablet to a RC that does not have a HDMI module installed. Would like to see if you can get the same result because I tried and it failed.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  5 лет назад

      Hi Aarun,
      Yes, I have done that many times before. My Phantom 4 RC does not have the HDMI Module, only my Phantom 4 pro.
      The HDMI out from the tablet is totally independent of the RC controller. If I were to connect my Tablet containing HDMI out port to a TV (no drone or RC involvement, only tablet, and TV), I get an HDMI signal from Tablet to TV through HDMI cable.
      The same is true about HDMI from Tablet to Goggles. As a matter of fact, you can use the goggles to view HDMI from any device (Play Station PS4 for example) to view the video. The same is true from Tablet to Goggles. Noting that the HDMI does not provide control on the touchpad of the Goggles, only the USB connection allows this.
      Hope that finally helps. sorry if I am not expaining in a way that is easier for you to understand. Maybe a language translation issue? I travel a lot for work and often see how English does not translate well to other languages. But happy to try to help.
      Are you selecting HDMI in the Goggles app to view HDMI? maybe that is the reason? Try using goggles alone with any HDMI output device to see if you are configured correctly.

      The quick answer is: "DJI HDMI Output Module Part 54" for Phantom 3 Pro and 4, 4 Advanced and 4 Pro V1 and can be sourced with a quick search on the internet. Amazon, Ebay, etc....
      I am making the assumption that you have a DJI Phantom 3 Pro, 4, 4 Advance, or 4 Pro version 1 (V1) and not V2.
      V1 uses Lightbridge transceiver technology which would require the HDMI DJI goggles connection if you are wanting to simultaneously use cell phone or tablet with DJI Go4 app. As explained in my video prior to V2 sales.
      Noting that: DJI goggle USB connection to the RC controller can be done on any of the drones but you would be using the app on goggles and not on cell phone or tablet to control the drone, sacrificing the connection solely for the goggle connection.
      V2 uses Ocusync transceiver technology and can communicate wirelessly with the dji goggles....

      Hi Roland, because of my experiences with DJI updates and problems that I have had I the past, I now follow a strict protocol regardless of App version and believe I have the latest firmware.
      I basically delete the DJI GO 4 App and reinstall new, then download DJI Assistant and refresh/update Firmware on controller and RC. Then shutdown and reboot everything.
      For the Goggles, I do the same, there is a DJI Assistant for the Goggles and can be found at:

      I had no problems connecting, I have a new video coming out soon on P4P and "Head Tracking" with the goggles. these things are amazing. I use to be a FatShark fan, but the dji goggles are a big leap in technology.

    I do have a scenario that I'm looking for a solution to...I have the DJI goggles AND a P4 pro. I'm wondering how I could fly and monitor a waypoint mission while another person is wearing the goggles and has gimbal control...is that even possible with this setup?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Hi Matt, Using the P4 pro I do not think that is possible. The set-up options are USB with Goggles and having controls using the Goggle's touchpad or HDMI where the Goggles is only getting video feed and no controls while the pilot gets full control using RC controller and Go 4 App on a tablet or cell phone. On other platforms like the DJI Inspire series, Dual RC Controllers and Goggles could perform the scenario you describe.
      For the Scenario you explain, the Goggles wearing person could call out to the pilot to pan down or up for the gimbal position as the pilot watches the progress of the waypoint mission? that seems like that would work after a couple of minutes practice co-piloting together.

    Hi Andy - Great Vid. Since you had some time since you did this vid would you still go with the HDMI set up or the Shield setup. The reason I ask is with the shield setup you can turn on and off the telemetry. Also, It seems like there are a lot more features on the Go 4 app then in the googles. Such as clearing the video cache.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      I like the Nvidia K1 Shield setup, I do not like to take my hands off the RC controller to use the App on the Goggles touchpad. The head tracking that you can do with USB connection is great but Its something you would use at lower altitudes where is mostly how I shot my videos. On the rare occasion, I approach the 400 AGL, but not much detail at that height. I like the mid- 100s and less to show features not seen at more of a distance. Trees and terrain give me personally more security to have flight controls at hand (RC) and not the less exact controls of the head tracking technology. But that's my take, others might have more confidence, I operate more by minimizing risk. I am hoping the next Phantom series model will employ the same 3D mapping as the Skydio R1and then I would feel more confident in head tracking technology . Check out this new drone technolgy ruclips.net/video/scpcG5Re0-M/видео.html

      I have no experience doing that and maybe someone else could provide tested results on DJI's forums, but it is a valid question. My guess is, having two fully separate DJI Go4 & Goggle apps running at the same time being used to Input Goggles's touchpad and head tracking with a tablet (Android or Apple running apps), maybe?....... I would only trust if tested. Someone must have done this before?????

      ruclips.net/video/ovWoMmre2nA/видео.html
      If that does not work, the DJI forum sites is good resource site to post questions. More nowledgable people will be able to help. I do not feel qualified to provide answer to your question because you are operating new P4p+ V2 which uses Ocusync 2 and also the RE version of the Goggles. Should be easy with little research to get an answer, all part of learning and fun for this hobby or business.

      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, if you want both the Tablet and Goggles to operate at same time, the connection is limited to using both the USB and HDMI (if you have the HDMI Module on the RC) unless you have the Nvidia K1 Shield tablet or the new expensive DJI Crystalsky display. THe goggles use with the Mavic Pro is easy because one can use the USB connection to a cell phone or small tablet , but the Goggles connect wirelessly using DJI's OcuSynce .
      THanks for watching and commenting, EnJoy the goggles, they are interesting option to looking at a tablet screen.

    • @AddyOverbeeke

      USB connection for Phantom 4 series is only option if you want to fly and operate the features of the DJI Go APP (goggles version) when wearing the Goggles using the built-in touchpad on the Goggles.
      HDMI is only a camera view on the drone and you can not control the Go App from the Goggles.
      If you want to share the Goggles and fly the drone using a tablet, HDMI to goggles and USB to tablet is required.
      For Spark and Mavic Pro owners, the Goggles communicate using Ocusync, so HDMI is not needed and still can use a cell phone or tablet.
      Check out my video ruclips.net/video/3l3HfNhC2Js/видео.html to see other use options when using the Goggles

    I still dont understand. What configeration for a P4P do I use if I dont have a sheild tablet and I want to fly the drone using an ipad and some else controls the camera withthe googles. I want an "expert" to visually inspect things with the camera whilst I position the drone.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Yah.. that is not going to work. The P4 series does not have Ocusyce lithe Mavic Pro with dual controls and wireless connections to the Goggles. The P4 series can only connect from RC controller to Goggles via USB if wanting to "expert to have head-tracking gimbal control. You would give up the iPad /tablet ability to communicate with the RC Controller. You would have to be good pilot to fly line of site if someone else is using the control funtions of the Goggles (USB). Expert could view Goggles via HDMI and you could fly with iPad via USB.
      I have another Video on my channel that I show Head-Tracking functions using Goggles on P4P. Check it out.

  • @brianandrews1428

    Is there a configuration that will allow camera display with flight controls & settings on the tablet, and head tracking camera on the goggles?
    I want to let someone else wear the goggles and have control the gimbal / camera; and I will fly with a combination of LoS and the moving camera view on the tablet.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  7 лет назад

      No configuration for the Phantom 4 Pro Brian. I can only get them to have a Tablet view and Goggles view simultaneously when Goggles receive input from HDMI and Tablet from USB. The HDMI will not transmit Head Tracking. But a tablet is really not required to fly. If you are in line of sight and can see the drone to fly while the person wearing the goggles is connected via USB, they can experience the head tracking while the pilot flies around.
      There are several Head Tracking functions, one of which controls the camera within the limitations of the camera's gimbal ranges and the other where camera uses gimbal ranges along with steering the drone in the direction of head tracking position( really cool).
      The next two I am not sure of because I do not own:
      1) The Phantom 4 Pro+ maybe? because the screen is built into the controller and the Controller has a free USB connection for the Goggles.
      2) I do not own a Mavic Pro or Spark that uses Ocusynce so again maybe? because the Goggles can connect wirelessly.
      Thanks for commenting and watching

Thank you very much

    • @AddyOverbeeke

      Carlos, the 30-meter limitation was invoked DJI to force users to re-sign into their DJI accounts (username and password) thus verifying latest No-Fly Zone (NFZ) updates were installed.
      Goggles and DJI Go 4 apps and firmware must be of latest.
      After re-sign in of DJI account, the 30 m limitation should be lifted. Note, recheck all you setting and make sure geofencing limitation is invoked (Beginner mode).
      Hope my hints/knowlodge helps

    There is noch real Information if the pantom 4 Pro plus v1.2 can be conected to the DJI goggles wirless, with cables is OK but to dangerous after about 15 conections after a few fly times the conections on the goggles or the controler start making problems even though we havethe best cables.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  4 года назад

      So, the it's only in the Phantom 4 Pro V2 that gets the Ocusynce so you are stuck Like I am with wired connections. The Version 1 series is Lightbridge connection.
      I have made many mates and de-mates of the connections and no issues with USB micro or HDMI. These are industry standard on cell phones, cameras, etc... The big issue is pulling on the cables once connected and that is why I point out to "strain relief" the cable so not to pull on connectors. I see this with young people that are rough on their cell phones charging cables and wired earbuds. Wired equipment needs to be handled with care and that is why industry is moving to wireless Bluetooth or Wifi connections. Some Cell phones don't even have a place to plug in a headphone jack. I do now have Ocusync of my DJI Mavic Pro and it is nice to have no cables... Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Happy droning...

    Hi Addy, Thank you for your very clear video! I just bought a P4P and DJI Goggles. I am hesitating between buying the DJI HDMI module that is quite expensive or a tablet with an HDMI output. It seems the Shield tablet K1 is disrupted. Would you have another recommended tablet or smartphone ?
    Best regards,

    • @AddyOverbeeke

      Hi Lionel, sorry, I would have to do shopping research to find a table that has similar specs as the Nvidia K1 Shield. With its 8 inch screen (perfect for DJI controller) and1920 x 1200 resolution on a powerful gaming quad core 2.2 GHz processor, I would be careful to find something as good. I do see used ones on eBay, mine was actually a factory refurbished unit. But not to worry, the DJI Goggles work best connected with the USB. The HDMI module is the cheapest option at $99 if you want both Goggles and Table at the same time. I would keep shopping around, there must be some good deals this close to the holidays. Happy droning.

    correct me if I'm wrong... With the HDMI cable you have the camera and telemetry on the tablet and only the camera in goggles, but you can not control the camera movements/head tracking??

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  7 лет назад

      Correct for the Phantom 4 series and Inspire series, HDMI is just a video link.
      Any HDMI output from a gaming station, PC or DJI P4P etc.. will video play on the goggles.
      The goggles have their own built-in software /firmware. Goggles are controlled from the touch pad (on the right side of the goggles) and the various buttons but control is for the goggles only. A tablet or cell phone would still need to be connected via USB to the to navigate the DJI Go 4 app.
      On the other hand, USB is a data link so Head Tracking data is transmitted from Goggles to the RCvia USB cable and then the RC transmits camera movement commands to the drone. Also, DJI GO 4 App is controllable using the Goggles touch pad and buttons. No need for cell phone or Tablet. In fact, in this configuration, the USB port is taken by the goggles do not phone or tablet could be used.
      I like the HDMI and the USB combination. Although when I want to navigate the DJI Go 4 App (since the tablet is connected via USB), I have to flip the goggles up to seem my tablet screen to control the App since I only get camera feed from HDMI

    Addy, thanks for your video. I have a P4 Adv and do not have the HDMI port on my controller (Only USB and micro USB). I messaged DJI and they said to use the USB port and to be honest I didn't trust their response. After seeing your video it appears that I can use the USB port for the goggles. Do you know if a USB splitter or HUB would allow you to use the goggles and a tablet? TIA

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Trey, I had thought about that before but did not test since I did not have a USB data Hub.
      The RC controller and the Goggles are USB 2.0 configuration and the quick look I did do showed most USB data Hubs are USB 3.0. One company that sells USB data Hubs is Anker. Not sure if backward compatible with USB 2.0, I think it is? That would be a cool thing to test. Wish I had a better answer for you. In my video, I was communicating the options I had that I feel are most common.
      If you do give it a try, let us know how it worked.

    Addy, just set everything up googles etc. Ya I also would like the telemetry on the googles and on my Ipad mini but like you said I am limited to having both unless i have a device with hdmi out. Bummer. What do you think the best way to fly is if you don't have the shield device? Having the hdmi telemetry on the ipid or goggles? I tend to think using the Ipad might be better in case I get into trouble in the air or landing etc. Would be nice to have both though like you have.
    Where did you get the K1 Shield? $$?.............-26 Mt Washington Static temp without wind!

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Hi Bill Wow, -26 F that is without wind chill.
      I often do not fly using goggles and Nvidia K1 Sheild tablet as the iPad is a more stable Go4 App device than the Android versions. So I always fly using the iPad and RC controller and when I want to use goggles I just use the HDMI output module on the RC controller to get a video feed from the camera. You develop skill very easily flying the drone using the RC controller sticks without looking at the sticks as it becomes an extension of your willing the drone to fly where you want it to go without having to concentrate on stick movement. So viewing the Drone's camera feed is like you are in the cockpit of the aircraft and your stick movements are intuitive to flying and looking at the goggles. If for some reason you want to perform a Go 4 App flight maneuver like "Point of Interest" for example, just lift the goggles momentarily to look at iPad screen and then flip the goggles back down for viewing.
      I like this best and not too intrigued with controlling the drone from the goggles. Is probably great for Mavic Pro and Spark pilots because of Ocusync but for cable connections using Phantom 4 series and Inspire series USB to Tablet and HDMI to Goggles works fine.
      The Nvidia K1 Shield use to be inexpensive and popular 2 years back when I got it. It still is very popular but manufacturing of the device is limited now and tough to find a good deal because the demand is higher than the supply. Mine was a factory refurbished unit. (I but a lot of electronics factory refurbished, saving money and still getting all the warranty of new). You just have to shop on eBay, Amazon or other to find a deal and availability which come and go often.
      Almost New Year. Happy 2018 I hope for all.

    Good evening, can you tell me which adapter you use between the control and Goggle DJI, any reference.
    Is it micro USB (male) to HDMI (female)? Thank you very much

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  7 лет назад +1

      Sure, the HDMI Adapter at the RC end of the cable requires a Female HDMI A (full size) to Male HDMI C (Mini).
      The other end of the cable at the Googles end is Male HDMI D (Micro), but the included cable has this connection.
      If you were to purchase a longer cable, you can omit the adapter and get a cable that had Male HDMI D Micro on one end and Male HDMI C Mini on the other end. I am going to order a long cable so others can where the Goggles and not have to stand to close to me. Let say for search and rescue for example or someone just really would like to see in an immersive way flying above the ground. so many applications.

      Yes, I have the Fat Shark Dominator V3 and I like the internal Fan for anti-fogging, the lightweight and portability, but the video is inferior to that of the DJI Goggles. They are okay but the one image is split by the two lenses and the field of view viewing angle is less. You see a large boarder around what you are seeing in other words.
      I use the Fat sharks more for FPV flying planes and hand built DJI F550 flame wheel.

      Yes, hdmi adapter is www.amazon.com/dp/B00CJH61RI/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_tai_McbgAbXX9PKBF and the Nvidia K1 Shield Tablet is www.amazon.com/dp/B0171BS9CG/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_tai_qebgAbJX0YVHB. The Tablet is more difficult to get these days as it is a popular gaming tablet (high performance graphics) and because it is becoming more difficult to buy.
      I bought a factory refurbished unit a year ago at $199 on Amazon, it is considerably more expensive now at $340 ish. I would search around eBay, Amazon and see if you can get a better deal or not. But, it is an excellent tablet for droning and with HDMI out feature, is rare to any tablet out there.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Hi Ray, It is a micro USB at the Goggles end. The video feed is 1080p for a good distance and past a certain distance (depending on signal strength) the feed goes to 720p automatically. It is hardly noticeable because the goggles' displays are so good. I have the Fatshark V3 Goggles and no comparison, the DJI version is so much better. Although the Fatsharks are a nice size and weight. But for the money, the DJI Goggles have way more technology and options over the nearly same cost of the Fatsharks.

      Hi Richard, sorry for delayed responses to all your recent comments in the past few days, I just got back from Canada where I was "off the grid" fishing with brother and bunch of other guys for past two weeks. Actually, just a week fishing and a week visiting. It is true, the only difference is one is wireless (Mavic pro = Ocusynce and P4p version 1 =USB cable). New P4p version 2 is now Ocusynce. The Goggles are 1080p and 720p depending on distance away from the controller. If you mean not crystal clear, if you are experiencing blurriness (out of focus), like me, I need reading glasses to see crystal clear. I recently purchased Focus Fixers for the DJI Goggles ruclips.net/video/HMAkOK44wi8/видео.html and now I have the perfect solution and convenience without fooling around with glasses. Hope this helps.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Hey Bill, the Goggles only work on 2.4 GHz band. It is a really good reliable frequency, here are some technical facts: The higher the GHz the less distance in transmission for the same wattage (power), so 2.4 GHz is best for distance. 5.8 GHz offers less interference, so when in an "RF congested" area this would be a good choice like flying around buildings or structures close by. Each has there advantages at the Drone level. Nothing wrong about 2.4 GHz for the Goggles.

There is a lot you can do when inside. THe DJI Go4 App has a flight simulator to practice. I should try if that can be done using Goggles, Hmmmm I'll have to give it a try. Keep warm.

      Yes, it does, If you look at my latest video about the goggles, You will see a chart that shows compatibility with DJI Phantom 4 series. HDMI is a video feed and does not have all the flight telemetry data and DJI GO 4 or DJI GO app . USB is used for that.

    Hi Andy I have a question about broadcasting with Facebook live I have a DJI P4 with the HDMI add on my remote how can I access the DJI GO 4 app menu in the goggles I can see all of the icons at the top but i can't get to them to change them ? on my iPad mini4 I can tap the 4 dots in the upper right corner and then i can tap broadcast live to Facebook but I can't do that on the goggles. thanks for help E.J. Duvail from Texas......

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Hi EJ, WHen using the HDMI connection, you only get a video feed for P4's camera and you can not control the Go 4 App on the Goggles touchpad.
      If you use the USB connection, you can control the Go 4 App with Goggles touchpad but then you do not have a connection to the iPad.
      I would start the Live broadcast on the iPad and then fly. you will not have App control on Goggles but live stream should work.
      DJI optimised the Goggles for Mavic Pro and Spark using Ocusync, a wireless connection that does it all.
      Happy Holidays

      Thanks Andy but i also wanted to know if i connected via usb how can I access the controls with the goggles? the ones at the top of the screen in the goggles?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      To access the Go 4 App on the Goggles (connected USB), a double finger swipe down on the Goggles touchpad activates the menu screen. A double finger rearward swipe locks the touchpad and two finger forward swipe unlocks the touchpad. Single finger swipes up, down, back and forward navigate the menu and a single tap selects the option you are in. On the bottom of the Goggles is a back button and function button.
      I have a link I would like to share for Tom's Tech Time. Tom is a young German man who is very professional in his videos (A lot better than me) and in this video link goes into great detail about the controls as I would have to write a small book to explain all. Hi Jeff,
      to be honest, I never really touched the module in a way that I would have noticed since I mostly just pug in and remove cables without touching the module itself.
      It would not be too unusual for the electronics to get warm but should not get hot as the goggles have their own power source so not a lot of power should be used other than the communications via USB and or HDMI. IF I notice next I use the Goggles, I will feel the module and let you know if there is reason for concern. Thanks for watiching and commenting.

    Wa s just reading and viewing online of a couple of guys flying their drone in Golden Gate NP and got busted by the park ranger. He got it on video. What is up with that! Can't fly near airports or among many people and under 400 feet not much more than that. His citation was 275.00! Crazy!

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Bill, there are lots of places to fly, but airports, national parks, over large groups of people, certain local places deemed no fly zones, all takes a little research where to fly before going out. Takes 5 minutes. I use Google earth to see what is pf interest and then check out the legality of flying there. In some cases, I might need to contact the airport to get clearance.
      I have a video I made from presentation slides I made to teach first responders, law enforcement, general public and drone pilots. Check it out, you will have to pause on the slides to read. But it is all there. USA is still the friendliest Drone country, Canada and others are much more restrictive. I belong to several organizations that advocate for us drone pilots. Important to keep laws sensible. The industry depends on it.

      No, Two configurations for DJI Phantom 4 pro v.1: New v.2 uses Ocysync.
      1) Full-size USB (type A) on the RC controller connects to micro USB (type B) on the DJI Goggles for Goggle control assist (Goggle based Go4 App for camera control, head tracking etc.... and piloting Drone with RC Controller.
      or
      2) Full-size HDMI (type A) on the RC controller connects to mini HDMI (type C) on the DJI Goggles. HDMI only displays Video Feed from the camera that you would see on the DJI Go 4 App using cellphone or tablet ...... and piloting Drone with RC Controller.
      Hope this helps, Feel free to ask more if you need more information

      Hi Victor, I have experience with several configurations of Nvidia K1 Shield tablet used with Goggles. One configuration being not having the HDMI Module installed on the RC controller.
      In that configuration, not having module mentioned above, an HDMI cable connection between HDMI output on the Nvidia Tablet and the Goggles, the Tablet can be used to navigate the DJI Go4 App and the Goggles show the Tablet's "screen view" real-time. Any data on Tablet view is exactly shown in the Goggles. But, you cannot control the Go4 App on the Goggle's touchpad. Only on the tablet.
      I like this configuration mentioned above when sharing the Goggles with someone and I fly the drone by RC with Tablet. However, it is also best for flying when not sharing. Flying and having both goggles and tablet/RC is really good but you need a spotter ( another person) when flying and using goggles per the rules of FAA.

    Hi, I am having a little trouble with the setup using both the USB and the HDMI. When I plug in the HDMI I get a black screen on the Goggles and something in the upper left hand corner [MODE ] P-GPS but it disconnects from the drone. I am using an iPad Min. Also not sure if you know this or not but I go the DJI Goggles HDMI (Type a) F...Male adaptor for Inspire 1. I have a DJI Phantom 4 Pro, is this an issue?

      As an added note, if I hook anything up the the HDMI port on the remote, it will disconnect the aircraft, so I could have an issue with the module install in the remote. Here is what I have when I hook it up to my TV:

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  7 лет назад

      Hi Frankie G. The problem was with the DJI Go 4 running on some Android tablets with version 7.x Nougat.
      On August 21 (about a month after I mentioned the problem in several videos I made), Oreo version 8 Android operating system update came out and it solved all my problems on my Android cell phone and Nvidia Shield K1 tablet.
      Currently, both iOS and Android devices I have all work well. Every time an update happens by DJI or by Android/iOS, I cringe because I have to test DJI GO 4 App and Drone's functionality all over again to see if the system is stable. But that is technology for you. I get it why its being done, its just a pain sometimes.
      To answer your question though, the Goggles were not contributing to the problem so P4P+ should be good.

    Great video! I just installed the HDMI Module for my PH4P Obsidian but it's not working properly with or without my RE Goggles. As soon as I plug in the mini Hdmi cable thats running from the headset to the controller, the video feed disappears from my iPhone. I am never able to get a video feed even without the iPhone. When I try to enable HDMI in the headset it tells me that I am not connected and I made sure to enable simultaneous image output to app and Hdmi as well as Display OSD on HDMI Output. Any ideas? Thanks much.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      You can test that HDMI Module is working if you connect HDMI Module to a TV to see if you can see the camera Feed on P4p.
      Other wise lets see if I can help, but I need to understand more by asking specific questions that may help me to understand because there are several connection configurations and only one works.
      a) Is firmware latest on the Goggles? (DJI Assistant 2 v.1.2.3 on DJI.com RE Goggles)
      b) You updated the RC Controller after Goggles updated?
      c) Go 4 App latest update?
      d) You can connect iPhone USB to RC Controller after you installed the HDMI Module open GO 4 App, Turn on Controller then P4p and you are connected with camera view?
      e) You then connected HDMI cable between new HDMI Module and the P4p, followed by powering on the Goggles, you selected "Simultaneous Image Output to App and HDMI" (in the HD menu "image transmission" of the Go 4 App)? Followed by Goggles App selection of HMDI. Are you getting an image now for both iPhone and Goggles?
      I found the sequence order to make a difference for updating of Firmware and various connecting option sequence issues so I perform in the order on the video and above.

      I just tested and I got a 3 second glimpse of a black screen with some telemetry on the tv from Ph4p that says P.Atti top left corner 720P on top right corner with HS VS etc on the bottom like you would see on the app with phone. I found an HDMI to HDMI Mini that I just hooked up so no adapter and it did the same thing! Hmmmmm Also, As soon as I plug the Mini hdmi to the controller, the app turns off!

      I would go through the Firmware updates as I suggested and try again. I'm not familiar with RE Goggles but I can't imagine the HDMI connectivity would be different than the regular Goggles, the only difference is the wireless connection for FPV flying from what I understand.

    Addy, I order the Epson but it is in back order, I also order the DJI Google to try which one will I keep, I have one question when you connect the DJI Google to the Phantom 4, does the home point get updated and you get GPS from what? the Google? since I connect to the RC with the USB. How to do the compass calibration? Is it with the Google or with the phone? Very confuse. Please help

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Let me know how you like the Epson AR glasses, I hope to have a pair myself in a couple of months.
      The Homepoint gets updated on DJI drones regardless of the tablet, cell phone or Goggles. You actually do not need any of these devices or the GO or Go4 App to fly. The drone has its own GPS and does this automatically.
      Now talking about Compass Calibration ( yes the Go 4 is needed but about a year ago it is no longer required to Compass Calibrate before each flight unless the Go4 suggest/prompts you to. I check it by starting my RC, Then my Drone and finally my GO 4 App on Tablet or Cell Phone. If everything looks okay and further intervention is not required (like calibration), then I shut down everything. If I am going to do a Google flight where I want to see and control flight through the Goggles (USB connection), I then start RC, Drone and then start the Goggles. In this configuration, you are not using a Cell phone or Tablet. If it's going to be an HDMI flight I leave tablet or cell phone connected to RC via USB and then start RC, Drone and then Start the Go4 App on phone or Tablet. I then start the HDMI connection turning on HDMI in Go4 App and HDMI in the Goggles' App.
      Learning to do so, I practiced and experimented until I got a sequence that worked for me.
      There is no way to perform Compass Calibration on the Goggles's App.

      Hi Addy - I am noticed that the Go4 app has way more functionality on my phone than the functionally on the google menu. If you use the Shield set-up are you seeing the google menu or the Shield menu for the Go4 app?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Frankie, Yes Goggles have an abbreviated version of the Go4 App that is made to operate with DJI's drones that are OcySynce wirelessly and non-OcuSync via the USB connection.
      When using HDMI from RC Module or HDMI output from Nvidia K1 Shield, the Goggles would show the full function of the Go 4 App (video output only) from tablet after you select HDMI within the Goggle's App.
      In this case, you will see the full version of the tablet's Go 4 App display but you can not control the drone from the Goggles Touchpad ( that only works when using USB connection).
      So what does this all mean? You see in the Goggles everything you see on the tablet using HDMI. If using USB to control drone via Goggles touchpad, you get only the Goggles version of the Go 4 App which has less capability of the full Go 4 App on a tablet or cell phone but you use can use the Goggles version of the App to control the drone.
      I personally like the HDMI and using the tablet.I only use the USB if I want to head-track fly my P4 and P4p.

      Interesting, so let's try something to get more information:
      1) Power on RC, the P4P, and start the Go4 App. On the upper right of the App's start screen you will see 3 short horizontal bars, tap/hold the bars for several seconds and release. A menu should appear that will allow you to check the firmware version. Write this down for reference later.
      2) Perform the firmware upgrade using PC or Mac computer with DJI Assistant 2 from DJI.com (software on the P4P web page). After the firmware is updated reboot everything and follow any instructions on continued P4P updates if prompted to. again with reboot if further update was required.
      3) Again, on the startup screen check the firmware version again as instructed in step 1 above. Is the firmware the same version or now a later version?
      Here are some video links to perform the firmware on RC, P4P and Goggles for reference:
      P4P, RC :
      ruclips.net/video/oQ_WEtnqI7c/видео.html
      Goggles:
      ruclips.net/video/Crnjfe4ssdo/видео.html
      Note, I like to delete and reloaded the latest Go4 App before Firmware updates ( I have had better luck way)
      Let me know how you made out..... This is a good thing to learn as updates are part of the droning experience unfortunately. I think of it as a maintenance task as part of the droning experience. Actually kinda fun once the steps are learned and practiced a few times.

    I installed the HDMI module on my Phantom 4 PRO transmitter (Box says Phantom 3...purchased direct from DJI) and this is what I am getting.....once I plug the mini HDMI on transmitter, the USB connected to my Ipad Mini 4 stop working and says "disconnected".
    I only get the OSD on my separated monitor via HDMI and it is on and off, no picture.
    If I plug the DJI goggles on the HDMI...it cancels "disconnect" the USB as well and at same time the goggles also says "disconnected" and nothing is displayed.
    -Yes, I selected to simultaneous image output to app and HDMI and selected HDMI on DJI Goggles as well. DJI Goggles will only work on USB (transmitter) to micro USB (Goggles).
    -Yes, I did update the transmitter firmware after installing the module
    I wonder if I got a bad HDMI module or simply will not work on Phanton 4 PRO...any ideas? I see that the first set up you had your iPad image is on and off and have green bars...I had that problem and it went away after the firmaware update you must do after installing the Module.

      Hi Ed, My latest update did correct the green bars and everything is working well. I will be making a video this extended holiday weekend using the goggles.
      But let's talk about your set up and see if we can resolve.
      First, the DJI HDMI module you have is the same I have. The box does say P3, but before I had ordered, I contacted DJI support and they said it was the only module they have and it is compatible with the P4P. I was skeptical because the new P4P+ has a different Module containing a micro SDcard slot and full-size HDMI port. DJI stated that was only for units with built in screen and not available for separate purchase. So you are good on that.
      Reading through your comment above, You have done everything correctly.
      The big problem for you is the disconnected issue. I suggest two things 1) reconnecting each of the 3 flat cable connections one more time to ensure good connection exists and see if the problem remains. 2) this will sound silly but it resolved other issues in the past for me, delete the Go4 app off of you tablet and perform and new install. I have found the updates not to to be consistent with the full install as if it were your first install of the app. Let me know if that corrects the problem. If not, I will make the effort to retrace my install and setup and see if I can offer any further advice just to make sure you did not miss something. I will have more time on the weekend look at the possibilities for you disconnect issue.

      Sorry to hear that Ed, It's not your fault and I share your frustration. But you should know the Module and the RC are designed to work together and both are OEM, so it's not like you are trying to get some third party part to work. In my good fortune, both were good and it was an easy install and every thing worked. A later software update fixed my green bands on the tablet. You will get there and will be enjoying the Goggles soon I hope. Let me know you made out Ed.

      Hi John, Thanks, I made this video almost two years and some things have changed for sure. Can you provide me with DJI drone type and are you using Andriod or IOS device? Also, what version Go4 App are you using? And I can see if I can help you.
      There has been much improvement with P4P V2 that use Ocusynce 2.0 which builds upon wireless communication of Mavic series and now is available on Mavic 2 pro and zoom. But for the rest of us still using the P4 and P4P V1, the Lightbright communication requires the wire HDMI or USB connection. Nothing wrong with wires but more to configure making for a little more difficult for the inital setup.

      I bought a phantom for pro, but sold the controller and bought the one without the monitor because I needed to use Litchi software because it has a much better waypoint capabilities and you couldn’t use it with the built-in monitor. So I use an iPad with my P4P I don’t think there’s a difference in the helicopter itself. Do you think it is an android vs IOS issue why I don’t have that option.

      Hi John, I don't want to assume but was your P4P+ a V1 or newer V2?
      Also, doe the new RC remote controller (without built in-screen) have the HDMI module? In order to have goggles work with Ipad tablet, the tablet uses the USB cable at the same time the Googles are using another cable, the HDMI cable (two cable system)
      If you have the HDMI Module installed, make sure you update the Controller's Firmware from DJI.

    Hi again Addy. Just got my dji googles. Can't connect without an adapter (stinks) I have to Phantom 4 Pro the controller has only the mini hdmi with a standard USB port. Seems I have to go get an adapter like the one you show on this video. I wonder if they have them locally like at Walmart can see waiting for Amazon to deliver such a small item. I'm other wise excited to use them!

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      I am almost certain a Walmart would have the HDMI adapter.
      I wish it were not so cold out this week I have off from work, I want to fly and make videos. I will usually go if above 30 degree F, but the warmest it got today was 19 degrees F. Next few days are going to be even colder out here in the Berkshires. Burrrrrrrrrrr...... Congrats Bill, you can do a lot with goggles inside, wat a movie, fool around with DJI Go 4 App and learn all the touch commands ( Use the USB connection to practice.. it will develop muscle memory for the touchpad controls)
      Happy Holidays.

    • @justtruth8310
      @justtruth8310 6 лет назад

      Happy holidays to you as well. I ordered at Amazon the adapter will be here Friday. I also ordered a charging dock. Guess what. The charging dock I just got today (3 batteries for Phantom 4 Pro) did not fit into the dock at all! I couldn't believe it with all the high reviews. I returned it got another type.
      Ya it's cold...real cold I dough the phantom would fly very long...certain to get an alert warning and its too cold anyway.
      I also bought adobe editing software to edit my videos and photos. Love this hobby already sinking big bucks into to though but it I see it as a hobby that has infinite possibilities.
      Nice Mt Wash shots. I was there 3 years ago.

      Yes, really nice hobby indeed. I know a lot of friends that have a boat for fishing, or restore old cars or belong to a golf club or are into cycling, all are expensive hobbies and droning and video editing does not seem too expensive when I see how much others spend. It is all relative. Now that I have my FAA Part 107 license, I will see if I can turn my hobby into income by starting to do real-estate videos and maybe some golf clubs that I drone each hole going flying down the fairways from each tee-off to the green. The possibilities are endless.
      I also am on the SAR Drones (sardrones.org) website for volunteer Search and Rescue (using drones) where you can be in a database and can offer help in certain circumstances. All pretty cool stuff.
      too bad about the charger.

      Wow never thought of that rescuing stuff! See Ken Huron on YT. This guy is about the funniest guy. Check out the YT video where his drone has a baby!
      and he delivers it!!! funny stuff.
      Well stay warm its a long winter but i will look for the first chance to go droning again! I want to fly just above the water on a pond or lake without going into the drink.

    Do you have any idea the phantom 4 distance with the DJI goggles?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад +1

      Distance is same as if using a tablet or cell phone with a remote controller. The Phantom 4 and Inspire series drones use Lightbridge technology for connection and the Goggles communicate through the wired interface via USB. HDMI option is just a video feed from the controller or a compatible tablet via HDMI cable.
      If you were using the Mavic Pro or the Spark, the range is little less than Lightbridge because the Goggles would be using wireless built in connection known as Ocusync. I'm not sure what the Mavic Air uses for transmission but I believe to use the goggles its the USB wired connection.

      Addy Overbeeke THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!! I bought the goggles and trying like crazy to figure how to use the goggles touch pad on the side!! It’s been raining so much here, I haven’t been able to fly!! So I have been watching a lot of videos on how to work the goggles and so on!! Do you have goggles?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Yes, I have the Goggles,
      Check out DJI Tutorial for touchpad (see Link below)
      ruclips.net/video/4f7NtdXDoGQ/видео.html
      I have another video on the Goggles on my YT channel for Head tracking (see link below)
      ruclips.net/video/3l3HfNhC2Js/видео.html
      If you have any specific questions let me know. The weather here has not been good for flying as well.
      Working on some other videos,
      Goggles are great but its a pain to have to another person be there when flying (Spotter). Often I fly alone. Check out the rest of my videos if you get a chance. Thanks for watching and commenting

      Addy Overbeeke last question I’m sorry for so many... but is it possible to change to the live view in the goggles to H/D ? I watched a video from DJI and the spokesman said you cant? But I thought that a new update may fix or enable this?

      Happy to help. Live view has 1080 HD and 720 HD at different frame rates for smoothness vs quality. I have a link below (one of many I have from the research I use to do when I first got the Goggles myself), It starts @ 4.11 minutes into the goggle menu's overview. ruclips.net/video/oepKt01b7rw/видео.htmlm11s

      in the windows taskbar i saw that the CDC Serial is missing there to connect the goggles with windows, maybe thats a dll fail from dji i dont know, at the moment the battery is charging from 19pm to now 3:30 am and its not finished, after its finished i will try it with full battery to connect again. the first try was the unbox one with the retail battery charge what is 2 LED's. yet i didnt tried the HDMI cable to only watch movies or some because i unboxed, looked the connection and now loading, just first day :D bought yesterday

      @@wolfgangmerneg5277 That's been a problem for most, but it's getting better since my older version in my video. The newer OcuSync 2.0 is an improvement and it's all wireless. Expensive to try to keep up with new variations and how fast they come out for DJI. I usually upgrading only for evolutionary changes P3s going to P4p, waiting for P5 which is going to be nice long wait.

    Can you help me?
    I installed the HDMI output module on my P4P RC Controller so I could output to the HDMI for a guest to view the flight using the RE Goggles. I am getting weak connection pixilation and green screen blocking on my iPad mini. Is there a fix for this?
    I have updated the firmware on the RC controller and refreshed the firmware on the drone. When I activated the goggles, I believe there was a firmware update that was applied too.

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      I would delete the Go 4 App and reinstall fresh/new Go 4 App. you will have to sign back in and then see how it is. If still the same, download Assistant 2 from DJI website and Update the Drone, Controller, and Firmware one more time. I have had this problem several times when updates are pushed. I go through this routine and it corrects the pixelation and green bars. Good Luck.

    Can I use any tablet with hdmi out for the third option or does only the shield k1 work?

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      Yes, any tablet with HDMI output that can operate the DJI Go 4 app can stream to DJI Goggles. Just make sure in the Image Transmission Settings (HD icon), the "Simultaneous image to HDMI and app" is enabled (turned on).
      I used the K1 Shield only for an explanation because that is what I have. There seem to be more tables available now with the HDMI output. I was just using my goggles this past week with my son. They are great, but when it is hot outside, they are a sweating machine LOL.

      We have cold winters with Spring and Fall seasons, so except for the 3 months of summer, most of the year it is comfortable here to wear the goggles, but wow when it is hot out they are uncomfortable to wear. I wish DJI had incorporated a fan like my Sharkbite Goggles have. Happy droning Aarun.

      Addy Overbeeke please tell me where is the image transmission settings (hd icon) ? Thanks once again

    • @AddyOverbeeke
      @AddyOverbeeke  6 лет назад

      With the DJI Go 4 app is open/running, look to the upper right corner and you will see three dots. Open the menu that the 3 dots are associated with and the "HD" icon should be the 4th selection down from the top icon, just below the icon of the RC Controller icon. Touch/open the menu within HD icon and you should see the "Simultaneous image output to HDMI and app" option that is shown at minute mark 2:23 in my video.
      Remember, HDMI is only a video transmission showing the view you see on the tablet's screen. You will not be able to control the drone (head tracking, flight modes etc...) from the goggles, that would require you to use USB connection. See my video about that at ruclips.net/video/3l3HfNhC2Js/видео.html.
      The nice thing about the new Phantom 4 pro V2 is that it uses a different transmission call Ocysync like the Mavic Pro and no cables are required. But, not worth the cost to upgrade for me, so for now, I do not mind the cables, I am used to them.
