I think Bachman Turner Overdrive should be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
Here here and agree
The fact that they aren't is criminal
We all know by now that the Rock Hall of Fame is a Sham!👎 The amount of classic Bands being ignored and other ones not deserving getting in! is just a Joke!!
Have loved BTO since 1974.🙂🙂
maybe too much Guess Who baggage
Robbie Bachman, drummer, passed in January last year. Please show him love.
Robbie was very underrated in the history of rock.
R.I.P. Robbie. Gone too soon. 💔
RIP Robbie!
Robbie was such a solid four on the floor drummer RIP Robbie Bachman
I tried when I was younger to get his snare drum sound not sure what he played I need to look it up. Loved these guys. I had all their albums.
It’s funny how this track automatically makes your car go 10mph faster on the freeway. ✌️
Well... 10-ish miles an hour faster, HEAVY on the ish. 😊
Lol, so true!
😂😂😂
Absolutely!
Oh so true
It's easy to forget how huge these guys were. '72-'74 everything they dropped went straight to number one. Three monster albums right in a row
I have gaps in my music memories. I must have been pregnant during this song. I always got really sick and just disappeared....so I knew it was during one of those missing times. 1973.
They were huge back then.
@@user-ii4zf5iq3t I suppose you could try hypnosis to fill the gaps, or acid which seems to be experiencing a revival
Huge Jr High memories.
Yep, seemed like they just had one hit after another throughout the mid-70s
Still WAITING for "Takin' Care of Business" guys only their #1 HIT!!
Im not waiting. I'm going to listen to it after this, reaction or not.
@@richstrobel
😅 You do that too?
You want their reaction, pay up.
Jay, you will love the piano in Takin Care of Business.
That song peaked at #12 on Billboard.
At the time, we had no idea how good we had it in the 70's and 80's. Great music was all we knew.
I'm so grateful I grew up in the 70's and had a hip family that enjoyed music and concerts! I was hitchhiking to bands before I was old enough to drive! What an Amazing decade of music and musicians! BTO was the bomb!❤🎉 There was Noone else that had that cool sound. Can't believe they are not in the Hall of Fame yet!!😢
This was Fred Turner.
Randy Bachman: You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet.
Charles Frederick Turner, just one of the Winnipeg music mafia
@dalesands1857 They were a great group and Randy Bachman did have a respectable solo career after the group parted ways I'm happy someone suggested this. I don't remember this tune that well. Was overshadowed by These Eyes and You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet.
@@jonstreng7850 _These Eyes_ was a Guess Who song from 1969. BTO's _You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet (Not Fragile album) was released in Sep 74, about 8 months and one album after Let It Ride (BTO II).
As someone else here commented, Randy is an entertaining guy and in one video I saw he was talking about the early days and Neil Young (which he knew well, they were part of the same loose music circuit) had gone to California and was a part of Buffalo Springfield and singing. He called Randy and was so thrilled "I'm singing, and they like my voice! So if they like my voice you would have no problem!"
❤
This song still sounds as fresh as when I first heard it in 7th grade. I'm 63 now.😂😂😂
You were a senior when I was a freshman🎓
😊❤ LOL I'm right there with you! I turn 63 in a couple of weeks! 😂 This song absolutely takes me back!! 😊❤❤
I was in about grade 7 when this came out. I think it was the first album I ever bought with my first real stereo. ❤
Released 50 years ago as of Jan.
Where did the time go?
It's now Official, you both are HONORARY 70's Children! You may not have grown up with us, but you are ONE OF US!!!!☺😋
Fred Turner is the lead vocalist on this song. You would be really shocked to hear Blue Collar by BTO. It’s a shame that BTO and The Guess Who aren’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They probably never will be.
BTO is still touring. They are going to be in Oklahoma in this month.
They’ve already reacted to Blue Collar…and really liked it, of course.
The R&RHoF is a joke and a sham anyway, so there's really no reason anyone should care who is or isn't in it.
I'll be seeing BTO on the 16th this month....I can't wait.🤘😎
Randy Bachman and his son Tal are in the band. Fred Turner isn’t on this tour.
Steps for knowing they like the song:
1. Jay closes his eyes
2. Amber touches the headphones
She is turning UP the song when she touches them, so you got it.
Amber also tends to close her eyes whenever it starts getting good
Criminally underrated band. So talented and so much energy.
Only Fred Turner can sing and scream, in tune, like that. I've known Fred since the early 60's, he's an amazing singer, guitar player, bass player, and all round nice person.
And they should 100% be in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame.
Teenage anthem for me ...keg parties, cruising around and doing each other's hair and makeup, ten cents to call on the pay phone while walking to every destination , friends, skipping school, just memories now 😔 Treasure every moment 🌹
Indeed they are treasured memories. I was 17 in 1974.
@@mikeb.7589 I was 22 in 1974 and grew up with ALL the great bands. Miss those days for sure, but still an old hippie at heart :)
The unmistakable lead vocal of Fred Turner. What a voice!
Timeless classic. Song still rocks after 50 years
I love how Amber was into this song WITHIN SECONDS! - & that BIG smile on J's face when he stopped the song at the half-way point & said "Thank-you." 💞 J. & Amber
Randy Bachman ( founder of The Guess Who ) , also created this band! Bachman Turner Overdrive! It is said that Neil Young (also started in Winnipeg) encouraged Randy to seek out Fred Turner to complete the band.
A bunch of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada boys that created some amazing music !!
Not quite correct there, Neil encouraged Randy to hire Fred in his band Brave Belt in 1972, Fred added a harder edge to Brave Belt's country rock sound. In 1973, Brave Belt changed their name to Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
This couple would make great neighbors!
Back in the 70's we called this cruisin' music.
So many great Canadian bands from that era The Guess Who, BTO, Rush, Trooper, April Wine, The Stampeders, Chilliwack, Triumph, Red Ryder and many others, musically it was a great time to be a kid and as an old man now I still love the music of the 70's. 😊🇨🇦
Don’t forget Lighthouse and Harlequin
@@joedella-mattia2234 that was what the and many others meant. 😊
It's funny how everyone in the world makes "stank face" in a good guitar solo!
Love BTO, very popular in the 70's. This song is one of their best.
This was playing in every bar in the country in the early 70’s!
Another great Canadian band
The lead singers voice is so tough and gritty and the guitars are all awesome !
Try listening to Sledgehammer, it ain't the Peter Gabriel one. He grits to the nth power!
This band is massively slept on. They are an amazing rock band. Tons of good songs!
Such a great Canadian band!
Without a doubt, one of THE BEST songs and bands of the 70's. So lucky to have been growing up then with this fantastic music!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Apparently Fred Turner sang lead on this song. I found an interesting note on Wikipedia about the song, here's the quote: "The tune was inspired by a traffic incident. While on tour in 1973 supporting The Doobie Brothers, the band was on a highway in their tour bus and got boxed in by a couple of trucks. When the bus and the trucks reached a rest area, the musicians confronted the truck drivers, who responded by saying the band members should settle down and just let it ride ".
😁
Randy Bachman is the lead singer on most B.T.O. songs. He was also the guitarist for The Guess Who. I've seen B.T.O. without a doubt the most times than any other band. Never disappointed.
Turner sang this one though
Wiki - Although Randy Bachman was the more widely known name because of his years with The Guess Who, Robbie Bachman stated in numerous interviews that there could have been no "BTO sound" without Turner's contributions: "The first Brave Belt album was very country-rock. Everything changed when Fred joined the band. We had Fred Turner's heavy, rough voice. We evolved because of Mr. Turner." Said Turner himself, "I think I brought a hard edge to the band. It was pretty countryish when I joined."
If it has the fiery vocals, it’s Fred Turner singing, if it’s the more mellow vocals, it’s Randy Bachman. This is my fave BTO song. Fred just kills it…..I think it’s his red hair that makes him the man.
"Like gravel being shot at you from a cannon". Amber has such a way with words sometimes.
Another great band that belongs in the Hall of Fame. 👍👍
I mean...HOW could they NOT be?!?!
One of the most underrated bands of all time
It's great to see a younger generation rock out like we did! YES! 😊
GREAT STUFF RIGHT HERE Y'ALL If you haven't heard BTO TAKEN CARE OF BUSINESS or you ain't seen nothing yet !! they will rock you !!
We had it so good "back in the day" we never thought it was going to end.
SO true - but I hope that the music industry will see these young people enjoying & rocking out to "our" old music & try to bring that back - music that HAS music! (thought out instrumentation in a great variety) & singers who could REALLY sing (& sang instead of TALKING to a beat ie. rapping! Sorry, J.)
Great Job, Amber your eyes lit up when he started singing. I’m 62, so I can tell you. We all bought their Not Fragile Album.
Ty Both so much ❤
You can't go wrong with BTO. One of the best bands of the 70's for sure.
My favorite BTO song!!!!
Top five for me:
Let it ride
Lowland Fling
Shotgun Rider
Four Wheel Drive
Roll on Down the Highway
Elvis loved Taking Care Of Business by B.T.O. he adopted the monacer of T.C.B.
Great BTO song but T.C.B. was already around including in Respect which is where I first heard it in 1967. Elvis adopted it in between those two songs.
🇬🇧 I'm 60 yo, how have I never heard this song, it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! You can't not dance, (even if it's chair dancing😉)
Love it. ❤👍🎶🎼🇺🇲🇬🇧
You didn't listen to FM rock radio in the 70s if you haven't heard this at least 1000 times
Awesome band!! Saw them in ‘77!! They backed up Dobbie Brothers!🤘
..."Class of 76"...BTO is one of my all time top 5 favorite Bands of All Time!
CLASS OF '74 and one of my favorites too! 😅
78😅
80 here...yes. BTO is balls to the wall
@@jeffjones6221 It's great to see we all have such good taste in music!
'75 damn straight 🤘🏻
This reminds me of another 70"s great: ARS - Atlanta Rhythm Section - So into you, Imaginary Lovers, Spooky, Champagne jam, Doraville, Not going to let bother me tonight, etc...Yeah baby!
These guys were sooo big in the 70's. I saw them live at the Halifax Forum and the opening act was Bob Seger!
Wow! Were you lucky!!
I could listen to this '70s rock masterpiece over and over again non-stop and never get tired of it! One of my favorites from that era!
Music for cruising the country roads!!
Going to Colorado.........
I love the joy you guys express listening to BTO. ❤❤❤
You must react to Lighthouse-One Fine Morning, Canada's answer to Chicago, horns, guitar and keyboards
Crowbar - Oh, What A Feeling. Both will rock your socks off. 70's Canadian gold
I get chills thinking about "One Fine Morning"!
I was born in the 50's, grew up in the 60's and 70's and very grateful that this music is still around so future generations can enjoy the music I grew up on. Bachman Turner Overdrive was HUGE in the 70's, it was like anywhere you went to dance or listen to music, practically every single cover band out there was playing Bachman Turner Overdrive songs, it was AWESOME. Somebody invent a time machine PLEASE.
Tell me about it. My garage band in high school did this song at dances and plus Takin Care of Business, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!
@@bosuna3663 Yeah, you are spot on, the cover bands did not play A SINGLE BTO song, they played several BTO songs. Some of those cover bands were pretty good and when they started jamming down on a BTO song about 95% of the people were on the dance floor getting down and the other 5% were keeping beat with the music, it was GREAT!! Man do I EVER miss the 70's.
"Takin Care Of Business" is the next banger you need to play.
BUT (they SHOULD be warned), it is NOT as rockin' as THIS ONE! (Still, very good & they will like it IF they aren't expecting a duplicate of this.)
Just another phenomenal song that played on AM and FM radio stations in the ‘70’s. The soulfulness, the harmonies, and that unforgettable hook.
I can't believe it's been 2 years since you did "you ain't seen nothing yet"! Time flies!!!
I don't believe it. Another of my absolute favorites.
Drums, bass, vocals....perfection.
The person that mixed this recording really needs some recognition for the brilliant way the lead guitar shifts from right channel to left channel and back in the headphones,
Jay/Amber, you'll Love their "Taking Care Of Business"!!!! (or did you already, and it was blocked/taken down?)
At a family picnic, my pre-teen niece and nephew started singing along to this song. Man! How do you guys know this? They looked at me like a doofus. Dad's car. Duh. Guess I don't have to be 200 years old to like Mozart. 😊 Good music lasts and makes new fans.❤
BUT - only if they get exposed to it. I am glad that so many young people ARE getting exposed to what music USED TO be like - & are liking it (A LOT!)
Rockin song
Bachman Turner Overdrive is the greatest band of the 1970's, hands down!
Randy Bachman consistently had some of the best guitar riffs of the 70s with BTO.
WOOOOHOOOOO - SOME BTO!!! :) YEA!!! :) DO NOT DRIVE ANYWHERE with this song playing: UP for a TICKET!!! :) HUGS, YA'LL!!! :) RIP, Robbie Bachman!!
Never get tired of this one. I wore BTO II out back in the day lol Still my favorite Canadian band.
Loved, loved BTO. They were the best band. I miss this kind of rock so bad.
I never get tired of hearing this song and their other absolute banger, Taking Care Of Business. Much love 💕
I grew up in the best times for music 🎶 🎵!! ❤
Fred Turner on the gravelly vocals, my Favorite BTO song by a mile !!!!! Thanks for the awesome reaction !!!!
Oh crap...in a great way! Brought me back youngsters...but remember this son well as an 18 to 20 year old. ....Love this neighbors! And as a youngster I had my head phones on! Rock on!
Back when I was a much younger man I went to an outdoor concert at Portland International Raceway in Portland Oregon and let me tell you it was the hottest day of the year in temperature and the music was even hotter . First band on stage was Journey, followed by Aerosmith and last but certainly not least BTO . It was just so amazing!!!!!
💕👍🏻
Oh that was so fun! Great reaction! This song brings back a million memories for me in my senior year of high school. Loved this band so much! Such a killer song!❤
My favorite BTO song; it's still fresh 50 years later!
IMO. Their best song ever. I have the vinyl. This song of course on my car blue tooth. Never tire of it. Takes me right back to 1973.
Fred Turner's vocals and Robbie's drum work BLEW US AWAY when I was in high school in the early 70s ... EPIC !!! 🤟😎👍👍
Jay mentioned this is Lake music, which is so true. My dad listened to BTO and The Doobie Brothers at the lake. Good memories.
Total BANGER-TRIP-DOWN-MEMORY-LANE!
I remember when this came out it was a "Huge" Radio play hit on every AM & FM station it was a good 3 or 4 years for BTO ! 👍🎼🎶✌
Yes it was called Roll on down the Highway. Randy Bachman had a great voice.
Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Let It Ride peaked at #23 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on April 27, 1974.
In their native Canada the song peaked at #3.
what two songs beat it here in an Canada?
It was on the radio a LOT up here.
In Canada on the RPM chart on May 25, 1974
1) The Entertainer - Marvin Hamlisch
2) Dancing Machine - Jackson Five
3) Let It Ride - Bachman- Turner Overdrive
Does that mean Canadians have better taste? 😜
@@Carrie-so3ro nah, just never got the same airplay south of the border. We got hammered with the Canadian Content (aka CanCon) there was a certain percentage of CanCon that HAD to played if you wanted a radio licence up here. I think the policy actually served it's purpose (unlike almost everything else government sticks it's nose in)
This has always been my favorite from BTO. A serious classic, back from when I was in 8th grade. HUGE hit at the time.
The first time I heard this was on the jukebox when I was a junior in high school and working at Monical's Pizza. I have loved it ever since.
50 years old and its still rockin .
Turners gravelly voice is incredible..
🔥
He's the caterpillar diesel of graveltude.
Oh man, LOVE that you young folks (hey, I'm 66 so anyone under 45 is a young'un!) are reacting to some of the best rock from the '70s! Grew up with BTO since 1973 when I first heard them on the radio. Was fortunate enough to see them a couple of times in the late '70s. Heard all their hits which was fantastic, but one song they did the second time around for an encore had the audience going nuts: Shotgun Rider off the Freeways album. From a proud Canadian 🇨🇦 keep up the great work and rock on!!!
Love your reactions you two!
Feel that BASS!!!!!!
Whenever I think of the perfect rock😮 song this is it. Start to finish
The first concert I ever attended was in 1975. I saw BTO in the Lake Charles, La. Civic Center. This was their opening song😊
BTO was one of the great rock groups of the mid 1970's - great tunes to party to, especially in the summertime!
BRO - another good old Canadian rock band!!! Thanks for this reaction!
My favorite song by BTO and one of my all-time favorite rockin' songs ever.
Fred Turner had some amazing vocal chops. Great band!
Love love love Let It Ride! Thank you Jay and Amber! Next up, please listen to BTO’s Takin’ Care If Business! It’s another banger!
Love this song ,I danced many times to it 👍♥️🙏✝️✌️😎 LoL I love watching you two listening and enjoying the music I enjoyed throughout My lifetime 👍♥️♥️♥️
I grew up listening to these songs, but you guys bring them back to life. I love seeing a new perspective from you both. Keep rocking!
As a kid. I always love to hear this song on the fringe of a radio stations signal, riding in my dad's car.
This is their best song IMO 👌
Saw these guys way back in 1986 when they opened for Van Halen at the Hampton Coliseum. Both of my parents went with me and we loved the show.
I saw that tour as well. Great show!
This is Fred Turner on vocals. He has quite a voice!
That was Fred Turner on the gritty lead vocals with Randy Bachman on the harmony. Since you like "grit" in your vocals, I suggest your listen to Gregg Allman, who some consider to be the greatest white blues singer of all time. His work with the Allman Brothers Band is legendary but I think his voice got better with age. It has grit and a smoky, road worn edge like an aged bourbon whiskey. Maybe something like the track Rendezvous With The Blues from his later album called Searching For Simplicity would be a good example of what I mean about what a great singer he was. Keep enjoying all these classic tracks that I grew up with... so nice to see a younger generation discover why I think the older music is still the best music!
“BTO, they’re Canada’s answer to ELO. Their big hit was TCB”
They are nothing alike. BTO's biggest hit was "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" number 1 in Canada and US
